OK Computer

I sort of made a thread about this a few days ago. I unironically think Hospice shares a lot of elements with this album. They've both got some clear roots in emo music, and they both utilise a lot of noise/dynamic shifts to tell stories about loss and existential crises.

There are some obvious differences (Hospice is closer to shoegazing/dream pop, whereas Devil and God is more like conventional hard rock production wise), but yeah I compare the two a lot.

If you've only ever heard Giles Corey's s/t, check Hinterkaifeck out. It's just a 3 track EP and whether you liked his other work or not, this is worth a look. It's excellent.

Daily reminder that Brand New has never been emo.

yes
and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. pop punk can be good too

is it the same house?

ooohh this is nice. Thanks for the rec.

Only first two albums were pop punk

These guys put out a new album this month, haven't given a listen yet though

Far more straight emo and less nuanced, but the lyrics are pretty gut wrenching and plays to the genre well. Would recommend.

>OPEN UP THE CURTAINS

>I felt the noose tighten up on your collar bone
>I felt the gun in the small of your back
>Engraved in the stone
>By request and recurse of friends dead is
>“Tell me again that it’s all in my head.”

I was in a far too vulnerable of a place to have listened to this album. The opening and closer especially both bite fuckin hard.
