YOU SEE THAT?

That's a GODDAMN AMERICAN FLAG IN THE BACKGROUND

>AMERICAN TECHNOLOGOY

> Werner von Braun was American

>"there's no way SpaceX could ever beat NASA"
>"a private corporation will never be able to outdo a professional government institution"
>"we will never get into space without government funding"
>mfw

He was. That's how our system works.

LOOOK AT ITTTT

ITS BEAUTIFUL

SEE THE ANT SIZED PEOPLE?
SEE THE HUEG AMERICAN FLAG ON THE VAB IN THE BACKGROUND?

YEHAW

>MFW Leddit Europeans cried for literally days that SpaceX chanted "USA USA USA" after their successful landing

>"we will never get into space without government funding"
SpaceX had massive government funding. Their first payload was DARPA. NASA payed for the development of Falcon 9.

>Beat NASA
lol

HE ENTERED LEGALLY

Can't wait for china to steal one of these rockets off the drone barge and reverse engineer it

>implying he did anything in Germany that wasn't a colossal failure

WE WUZ ROCKET SINETITS AND SHEEIT

>implying china can into quality control
Bill Clinton literally gave China space rocket technology for free. Look it up.

NASA doesn't build rockets

WE LOVE OUR LEGAL IMMIGRANTS DON'T WE FOLKS?

We are from the same civilisation, faggot. Thanks our nazis who gave you the mastery of rockets

>Doens't even go into orbit

I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE SOUND OF THE FREE MARKET WINNING

Good job.

Sometimes you forget how FUCKING HUEG the Falcon 9 is.

he's a canadian, bro
he doesn't know anything that isn't weed related

>China
>quality
Pick one.
They will steal it the idea and replicate it only worse kek

because that's the first stage dumbass
unless you have magic space dwarf technology, first stages rarely go into orbit

Thank Werner von Braun.

JEH IT WAS ALL OF MERICA EVEN YOU WITH YO SHIITY 30k in a year and that debt that you owe

fuking pleb it was the accomplishment of many different ppl from around the world
probable more indians than us citizens

but what ever im lucky that space x is successful

>pic related, its OP

The point remains that it is still fucking useless, with the aditional question if it will ever be able to compete with traditional rockets in terms of cost and reliability

Technically they do. They just don't usually build the first or second stage boosters. But they sometimes custom build the orbital rockets or other small rockets.

OP is disgusting

yeah that was pretty pathetic

reusing rocket parts cuts down on launch costs considerably when you don't have the production lines to just keep making shit like the russians do with soyuz

Buttblasted euros ITT

Then why did europoors cry for days about the USA USA chanting?

what the fuck you even talking about wage slave ?

I don't understand why you trashed all your cheap and solid space shuttles to pay the Russians for sending your satellites into space and then try to redevelop the whole wheel to have a private space travel sector. That's totally moronic but maybe that's what you Americans are.

I didnt. I'm proud of you, USA. You exist because of us. Your victories are ours too, and vice et versa.

Just like we killed a lot of Indians for our land, we killed a lot of Nazis for our rocket technology.

lol at least try with your bait posts

Go choke on sauerkraut
Check out this pic - the stage moved like 40 feet

Government contracts are still the free market nigger. That shit happens on every level in every industry.

They still haven't sent someone to the moon.

Also NASA did it in the 60s, before anyone in history had ever done it.

beautiful flag on the falcon 9 as well user, god bless america

>government contracts are free market
top fucking kek

NASA got spooked when they lost 2 shuttles to mistakes
they were insanely expensive for launching sattelites, but for moving humans to and from space they're pretty good

The shuttle was primarily built to put together the space station, which it did. Meanwhile the russian space station is still in pieces in the atmosphere. Besides from what a majority of scientists say the ISS is meme science, I care more about our drones exploring then Ivan being a space taxi.

The shuttles had to be rebuilt bolt by bolt every fucking time and kept blowing up. It was really inefficient.

NASA is running SLS now and SpaceX looks awesome.

Well you live in a socialist country so I could care less about your opinion on the free market. Whether the government needs vehicle parts for a fleet or a sattelite in space the labor and funds go to a company to get it done. Government contracts are common practice in every industry. It's hardly Space Xs fault they had no competition.

No they weren't

The shuttles were shitty in every aspect
Safety
Cost
Capabilities

We could have literally 500% the pressurized volume of the ISS for the same cost if we kept the Saturn V around.

Fifteen skylabs. For the same cost as the ISS.

Don't believe anyone when they say the shuttle was good at ANYTHING but wasting money, killing astronauts, and holding back space travel 40 years

I don't get why they have to be reusable. Simply crash them into London when the fuel is out.

because they could
it'd be nice if they were reusable in the sense of a car being reusable after drive to work and back, and not reusable in needing a complete rebuild every time they went to space

Or strap some parachutes on them instead of wasting more weight on fuel for re-entry.
But hey, at least it looks cool

The idea was that they would be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper if they had a few shuttles on rotation that they reused but because they had to be refit, rebuilt, inspected for launch each time it made it way more expensive.

The same idea behind spacex landing rockets but it seems like spacex is on a better path.

Reminder that Musk was born in south africa, americans take merit for something they did not do once again

Incompetence and failure are memes designed to hide black budget programs, MHD powered air and spacecraft
The Military Industrial-Complex is already flying in the solar system

#1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could care less? I think you mean 'couldn't care less'.

>socialist country
not any more socialist than yours, other than more extensive benefits systems. America is way more socialistic when it comes to military, government contracts etc... It is a huuuuge fucking bureaucracy even compared to Norway.

Government subsidies does not count as free market capitalism.

In Sweden in the 1930s when it was a free market, could I just ask the government to pay for my space shuttle business or whatever it may be? No, of course not. That is a socialistic subsidy that doesn't exist in a true free market.

Sure, government contracts mean the government outsources the work to companies that are not directly government founded. But they are however government funded. Which means they are literally subidized.

you made my day

>Tfw go to NASA and take a tour with a based bus driver
>Mocks mexicans and foreigners by calling alligators "Ahligatore"

>take merit for something they did not do once again

>take merit

Also, elon musk doesn't build the rockets, retard.

What is this europoor shit? Pretty much everyone here is richer/more healthy than the average burger?...

Born SA, raised mostly Canadian, is US Citizen.

>tfw you make english more italian again

Retard, musk is planning and making all of this and he is not american

get rekt faggot

Born in Sa and raised in canada, Us passport means nothing

Rockets are cool

>elon musk doesn't build the rockets
That's true, but he designed reusable rockets and fully autonomous infrastructure for them. He created something that NASA and Roscosmos coudn't design for over 40 years.

Not in general no. ULA also has a government contract, that involves direct subsidy. Not free market. Space procurement in the US also requires mostly domestic production, again not free market. Same goes for paying for development, you offer one company massive upfront investment which means other competitors can't bid at the same level in the future.

Claims US is greatest country in the world, claims he came to the US as quickly as possible, sets up operations within US.

Holy shit I didn't realize just how massive that thing is.

>The shuttle was primarily built to put together the space station

No. The Shuttle predates the ISS by almost 20 years. It was even before Mir.

>Meanwhile the russian space station is still in pieces in the atmosphere.
Mir was destroyed because it was beyond repair. Skylab on the other hand was destroyed because the Shuttle was late.

I didnt see that, what did they say?

checked quints

ULA buys old, moldy Soviet rocket engines. And ULA bases its business only (90%) on government contracts.

claps americanlike

Musk is not the engineering brains behind SpaceX. Tom Mueller on the other hand is a very smart man but none of this would be possible if it weren't for the army of aerospace engineers they are burning though.

Britbong sucking dicks of the amerifats?

Not surprised, enjoy being fucked by jamal you son of a whore.

Musk = not american

>he designed reusable rockets and fully autonomous infrastructure for them
Just because he's the boss doesn't mean he does everything himself.

> He created something that NASA and Roscosmos didn't build* for over 40 years.
FTFY. There have been shit loads of designs for RLVs, boostback isn't even a new concept. In most cases the concepts were never funded or but in some they were lucky enough to be culled in budget cuts (e.g. X-33).

Why can't we all just get along?

I think the main problem with boostback before now is guidance systems couldn't handle the trajectory or the suicide burn

Some (Finnish) Redditcuck got triggered by the second Falcon 9 landing: reddit.com/r/videos/comments/4i3u9j/spacex_just_landed_their_falcon_9_rocket_on_a/d2uvq7k

I hope the launch a used rocket this year. It seems like they improve after each landing.

What's even better is they are launching a Dragon 2 capsule to land on Mars in 2018 and will launch a mission every 2 years afterwards. Hopefully, Congress will hand over all of that money the SLS Rocket is sucking up and give it to Spacex.

I want to see all three first stages safetly landing after Falcon Heavy launch. That's gonna be fucking orgasmic.

Yeah, that time lapse photo is going to look really sweet. Between this and the inflatable habitat on the ISS, space travel is looking pretty good right now.
