Something I noticed during the race, and was waiting for a torrent to check. >was also waiting for the race thread shitposters to fuck off so we can be aspys
According to Sky, Hamilton made up ~8 seconds by "pitting under the VSC".
But he didn't. Look at the graphic. The VSC ends as he is entering the pits.
The "pitting under VSC" advantage is that when you're stationary, your opponent is going 80km/h instead of 200-300km/h, so you lose less time. But when Hamilton was stationary, Vettel should have been at race speed.

For me it will always be anime

I MISSED THE RACE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
brb watching the rerun on sky go
Benjamin Roberts
clever lad desu
Connor Thomas
how did hamilton make up the time then i dont get it
Cameron Miller
HAAS have a future WDC on their hands
Juan Cox
Vettel still had to drive a considerable amount of the main straight during VSC which lost him the time
Leo Wright
as you said the vsc ends when he enters the pits, so Vettel has still to complete one lap at full speed.
mercedes strategy was good, on the other hand ferrari watched to much and acted accordingly, they got fooled easily
Jose Gomez
can i get a replay stream lads
Jackson Jackson
nah mate jog on
Landon Hughes
>not watching it on RAI2
Justin Foster
cmon m8 be a good lad
I was asleep -_-
Gabriel Ortiz
Ferrari had no chance today strategy-wise, they did NOT fuck up.
I was thinking about that. Same thing that happened in Monaco GP2 last year.
But I thought the F1 system (different to GP2's) with it's "sector arrival times" was meant to avoid that.
Nolan Wright
Set your alarm next time to bloody baka
Jason Thomas
I think you'll all just have to admit that Vettel wasn't as good as Lewis today.
Don't speak German. Post a link in English.
Adam Morris
Like said, Vettel was 3/4 of the way down the main straight when the VSC ended. Mercedes timed their pitstop perfectly—right as the tractor was almost off the circuit, because Hamilton's pit stop delta was effectively only 13 or 14 seconds rather than the usual 21 or 22.

Jonathan Rogers
why the fuck didn't ferarri pit on the VSC when they saw the merc team set up on the lap that they didn't pit on?
it was a fucking slow motion pitch for them to fucking hit out of the park if they then hustled outside to pit also
Nathan Watson
>Vettel being a lesser driver than Hamilnigger Nah, has never happened and will never.
Christopher Gomez
I did that once. That's it, once.
Josiah Davis
>abloo abloo shut up >Sup Forums correct >don't speak German not my fault m8 The article basically covers all "what ifs" concerning alternative Ferrari decisions and basically Mercedes victory was set in stone

Hush cheeky asylum seeker who fell off the lorry
Jeremiah Ramirez
Its unironically true
Daniel Mitchell
I disagree it's a well known fact that after 40 laps tyres pretty much cover the asphalt increasing the performance of soft compounds. Foolishly Ferrari hoped in the degradation of the Hamilton's tyres in favor of Vettel hard ones.
Connor Martinez
Well shit you left an impression on them. Had few of them complaining over here about you. Cheeky well job done lad

So let's assume Ferrari go on Medium after first stop. Mercedes chose Soft, Hamilton goes past Vettel. Last stint is Medium Hamilton in the lead with Vettel catching up on Softs and then what?
Joshua Diaz
>Like said, Vettel was 3/4 of the way down the main straight when the VSC ended
Yeah I think he's right. The sector arrival time system won't compensate for the KM/H loss when accelerating from mid-straight.
If he had have been almost anywhere else on track, it wouldn't have been as bad.
Charles Jackson
Woah nice repeating digits friend. make a wish
Sebastian Robinson
Haha. Awesome. Maybe they're so salty because they were forced to confront the fact that F1 is a superior motorsport.

Daily reminder that your professional sports are DOMINATED by black people
Is this why you're so insecure about their existence?
Christopher Ward
>be a top team >hire Finns
why do they do this
Tyler Perez
Ham was 4s ahead of Vettel in the last stint because he had the best tyres, simple if Vettel had soft tyres at the end he would easily have reached Hamilton right after his first overtake at lap 40 I think
Cooper Price
Because Finns are good.
Alexander Lopez

Ferrari have for once practically an unbeatable car both in quali and races, yet they keep giving wins away to fucking Mercedes who are in all honesty not even on the same level right now.
Vettel choked half a second in the last sector in quali, Ferrari choked the strategy so fucking hard in the race yet again. Won't comment on the Finns because they are both Barrichello tier right now.
If Ferrari chokes this easy championship I honestly wouldn't even be surprised at this point. And then they probably will forget to develop for 2018 and have another 2016-tier season. I honestly don't know if they even deserve support from fans at this point
Jonathan Hill
Lad lad lad you tried the mass reports in the past & that only got you ignored by mods & warnings from the janitors lads at best. You are welcome to try but you will not win my cheeky friend

Bottas is much better than what people seem to give him credit for. Hamilton is a massive benchmark and it's not like he is choking ultra hard.

>blaming Bottas for "being slow" during this race
He had an engine that was down on power before it blew up anyway, damaged suspension (left wheel wasn't quite straight meaning increased tyre wear, less straight line speed, less grip and having to hold the wheel not quite straight either which hampers you in the corners) and the team put him on a one-stop strategy so that he'd hold Vettel up after the first pitstop phase. He might've had more damage too, Toto wasn't clear.
Samuel Sanchez
Daryl?
I'm not black.
I like Bottas. He seems to be doing a solid job. Whether or not he's as good as Lewis remains to be seen.
Couldn't agree with you more on Kimi though - he's just a waste of a seat at this time, sadly.
It just seems as if he's as frustrated as last year. Lewis must be getting to him.
Brayden Jenkins
>Sochi literally impossible to follow or overtake a car at despite having a fuck off long straight and generally a pretty easy layout >Barcelona is completely fine even with harder tires despite being a highly technical circuit with long sweeping corners and a slow mechanical grip section along with a notoriously non-driver friendly final corner
Someone please explain this meme to me. How can "difficult to overtake" Barcelona be more friendly for these cars than carpark Sochi on ultrasofts? I actually don't understand it. I get that Barcelona sees more racing so the track is more rubbered in but still.
Blake Carter
Did not see the race, could someone green text please?

Ultrasofts = overheat when you try to push and get close to another car
Softs/Mediums = don't overheat as easily, harder so last longer = drivers can push without much deg
Angel Kelly
This is true. T1 was fully his fault though, surprised he didn't get a penalty for effectively ruining 2 drivers' races. Then again the stewards seem to have a "fuck it" approach this year as long as it's not related to ignoring bollards when rejoining a track.
Just a bit too greedy overall. I wouldn't relegate him into a total Massa/Barrichello role just yet
Noah Brown

>T1 was fully his fault though t. Kimi literally driving into him was fully okay and Bottas should have just driven off the track and stopped to let everyone else go by Valtteri had his right wheels completely on the kerbs, just like Mexico 2015. Kimi's fault if you want to apportion blame.
Andrew Green
I guess living in a council estate does terrible things to you.
Most of the overtakes seemed to take place on the pit straight. I would put down to a greater understanding of the track, and the longer DRS zones.
>Implying I'm trolling >Implying I'm autistic
A fine ad hominem you have there.
Joseph Bailey
I read once that tyres consume themselves more easily in slower curves. So Pirelli decided to use ultrasoft ones to give enough grip but less durability in Sochi and soft and medium ones in Barcelona. Technically soft ones are way more durable and work well especially in a track after 40 laps
Bentley Ortiz
Everyone deserves (you)s though friend
Evan Young
why are brit bongers the most autistic posters in these threads?
Zachary Martinez
Try harder at at least getting dubs my friend. You just have to believe the big trips & quads & maybe, just maybe quints will come to you. Yes they will come to you

Replying in an articulate manner, attempting to hold reasoned discussion, and calling out racists and animefags is not generally a sign of autism.

Issues caused by the large-scale inbreeding within both the immigrant and native population
British people are honestly so fucking retarded unless they are in a weird upper-middleclass category that they have enough money to not be retarded but not so much money that they end up retarded Supersoft-Soft-Medium for all tracks then. Hard is practically useless and Ultra is a meme aside from maybe Monaco
Michael Reyes
it's only the blacks and the asians that are inbred

Carson Phillips
>All these ABH's trying to work out why Vettel lost ITT
Hammy is just ELITE lads face it
Christian Sullivan
No, the opposite is true. Long, high speed corners like Curva Grande or Sochi turn 3 cause more degradation because the tyre is slipping more, generating more friction and more heat, both increasing the tyre temperature and grating rubber off like cheese.
Of course, in 40km/h hairpins, where downforce is non-existent, you have plenty of tyre slip too, but it's at a lower speed and travelling less distance so there's not as much in total.
Isaac Evans
>Supersoft-Soft-Medium for all tracks then. Hard is practically useless and Ultra is a meme aside from maybe Monaco I think at Baku teams will be free to choose their own set of tyres, but anyway Ultrasoft are not a meme. Take for example that piece of shit of track of Abudabi: since you have low downforce you must use this set to achieve higher grip, or Monaco even if probably they'll go with supersoft and ultrasoft
Daniel Adams
Agreed.
He had one race off, now he's going to win. Vettel won't be able to keep up.
Yet more racism.
Am I going to have to remind you of the >>>/rules/ , or just that you need to go back to ?
Carson Morris

Jace Baker
Shit you nearly got HAM trips there lad
If you would watch any anime what woudl it be friend?
Noah Nguyen
I mean tangential stresses degrade more the tyres than longitudinal ones. Obviously is the tyres slips more on the side this will affect the durability of it as you said. This happens generally in slower curves or in those where you have lower downforce. Sochi is full of those kind of curves as well as Monaco or Abudabi
Ayden Howard
im still waiting for someone to tell me WHY ferarri didn't fucking pit under VSC once they saw merc show their hand by bringing out the crew to do a change a full lap early?
Ayden Sullivan
guys, can we not feed the fucking multi-reply hamilton autist?

Nathaniel Gray
Not really
I mean it's ok but the AI is fucking terrible (really aggressive and forceful in the overtakes, will spin you out when you block them etc), tire deg is a meme, slipstream is insanely powerful, career mode is not particularly fun. There's endless menus and shit and if you want to make your car competitive you have to do these insanely boring resource point gaining things where you essentially just drive the track with various different objectives. The career mode honestly has so little racing its almost like real F1
The cars are also not particularly fun to drive IMO
Benjamin Reyes
he needs to just fucking retire
Gabriel Ramirez
This.
Senna literally killed the spirit of that country for good.
>puncture on lap 1 >gazillion seconds behind everyone else >ends up finishing 3 positions ahead of teammate who had trouble-free race aside from self-inflicted problems
Granted Stroll is not a high benchmark but he is actually severely ripping this kid a new asshole, which isn't too bad he was supposed to be memeing it in Formula E this year
