Reminder than Chelsea just have to beat Sunderland at home and they break Mouyes record for most wins in a season

It's still short of the 95 point record that Mouyes got in 2004-05.

With a much weaker team

That's what next season is for
Also Chelsea finished 2nd in 2003-04
Conte took them from 10th to 1st

If you think that this current Chelsea team holds a candle to the 04-05 team then you're a fucking idiot.

>Simultaneously holding records for most goals scored in a single season, fewest goals conceded in a single season, most wins and most points in a single season
Is the rest of the league even trying?

That's not what I'm saying
I'm saying took the 2nd place team that made the semi's of the CL to first and Conte took 10th place to 1st

He's talking about the points record. No way in hell the current Chelsea break that.

They're 3 points off, 1 win. Had they played with 3-4-3 from the start they probably would have done it

That "10th place" team was a title-winning team that was just playing like shit so they could throw their manager under the bus. Obviously Conte deserves credit for deciding to switch to 3 at the back but it's not like he lead a team of underdogs to an impossible achievement, he didn't even have to worry about European football (which is why he managed to get away with making a third of the changes that title-winning managers usually have to make to their starting XI every season).

>Throw their manager under the bus
You have no evidence of this
>Didn't have to worry about European competiton
Neither did Liverpool and Tottenham. If someone like Jose honestly thought he could win the EPL why not drop out of the fucking Europa league and focus on the league?

Reminder that he wont break the points record
Sad!

United had some pretty big injury problems and they were out of the title race pretty early on,so they decided to put all their eggs in the Europa League basket. Liverpool have a shit squad so they were never going to win the league. Tottenham were the only PL team to even attempt to catch Chelsea but their poor run of form came from when they were still in the Champions League/Europa League and they were struggling with fixture congestion.

If you look at the stats, a title-winning team usually makes over 100 changes to their starting line-up throughout a season. Chelsea (and Leicester the previous season) only had to make around 40. No European football really does make the league a lot easier to win, it's why Liverpool came so close in 2014 when no-one expected them too and it's why Leicester and Chelsea have managed to comfortably win the league last season and this season.

Tottenham choose to compete in the Europa league. If they didn't think they could win both then they shouldn't have tried, it's no excuse

I'm not making excuses for Tottenham not winning the league. I'm saying that European football does make it much harder for teams to concentrate on the league. If you think that Chelsea will walk the league while doing well in the CL next season, you're deluded.

Don't act as if no one has won the double before, even in England

just give them the championship already

It's not impossible, but every team that has won the double or treble has better squad depth than this Chelsea side. We've just seen today how much the team struggled when they changed some key players, that's how they're going to play when they have to play twice a week.

The players they played today were the b team. Chances are Roman knows this is the time to go for the CL and will be Conte a nice splash of money

Chelsea will be competing with United and City in the transfer market, both of whom will (probably) be in the CL as well, will be able to match whatever Chelsea offers and will probably be more likely to offer first-team football over Chelsea's team of already established players. Top players don't want to spend half their season on the bench and play second fiddle to others, so it's difficult to convince them to come if you can't guarantee them regular football (which makes it difficult to build depth in the squad). That's why winning a treble is greater than the sum of its parts. It shows that you have not only a great team, but a great squad.

United and City will have similar issues. And this break looks like it will have plenty of people looking to leave their clubs and so there will be a lot of talent going around. In forwards Madrids bench alone could supply the EPL

United and City are in a rebuilding phase, there are very few players in their squads that are certain of keeping their position. You can't say the same for Chelsea. Plus the two Milan clubs are also bankrolled by chinks now and will be spending big.

>and will probably be more likely to offer first-team football over Chelsea's team of already established players

I don't think Nainggolan would be afraid of being benched by Matic given the endless long shot opportunities made for Matic. I don't think Belotti would think he couldn't improve Chelsea's counterattacks with his speed, which is far superior to that of Costa's.

Conte's management this season has shown he can get the best out of his players. That's a massive advantage he has over managers when it comes to rising stars.

But that's an advantage of Chelsea. Right now they have something established rather than needing to build. When it comes to the spending the need depth. The only real "replacement" that needs to be made is Costa. They don't need star wingbacks to replace Alonso and Moses, just some 5-7/10 guys that can play Middles borough and Swansea.
