The metric system is based, prove me wrong

The metric system is based, prove me wrong

Every country should use US customary because every country in the world belongs to America.

Auschwitz was a fabrication for the jews... Just like the metric system.

...

Metric is easier to use, but that doesn't mean we're all going to start speaking esperanto.

>tell an american theres something a meter behind him
>WHATS THAT IN AMERICAN?
>tell him it's a yard behind him
>WHATS THAT?

Israel uses the metric system, so it's the opposite of based.

>Using units based entirely around the decimal system
>Not using base-12 master race

Israel breathes air

Metric is shit, SI is based.

Oh and no edit will ever be as good as the original edit. So chalk one up for imperial.

Highly underrated. Almost made me amused at the extremely gay US system

then why don't you use metric time?

Only because it's free.

>Highly underrated.
No everyone has just seen it a thousand times already because it isn't their first week here

>base-12
tell me, how many yards in a mile?

Month can take values of 1-12
Day can take values of 1-31
Year can take values of 1-infinity
The American way makes the most sense

ROMANS N BABYLON N SHEEEET

1,760.

Unlike metric fags, Americans can remember numbers that aren't divisible by 100.

1760, you can do it in your head unless you're retarded

Just realized the US system is preferred because the words sounds cooler.

Inches sounds cooler than centimeters. Miles sounds cooler than kilometers.
The temperature thing is worse by far however. They should at least use metric temp

Because basing time on 10 is stupid. The earth is a globe that has 360 degrees so we make our time unit divisible into it

I was on /d/ sorry

retard
1 mile = 8 furlongs
1 furlong = 10 chains
1 chain = 22 yards
=>1760 yards to a mile

...

0F is cold
100F is hot
0C is kind of cold
100C is dead

America is actually better than the entire rest of the world in this regard. All science, research and medicine has used exclusively the metric system ever since we lost a mars orbiter because NASA used metric and Lockheed-Martin used imperial. The metric system is superior for any serious pursuit because it follows a simple logic. It's designed with the universe in mind.

Meanwhile, for everyday pursuits like the weather, driving and calculating distance and describing the size and weight of everyday objects, we use metric, which was designed with humans in mind.

a person can walk a mile in 15 minutes and drive a mile at 60 miles an hour in a minute. a person's knuckle is an inch, a foot is a foot and a leg is roughly a yard. a cup is a serving of water. 100 degrees is obviously hot as balls and 32 degrees is obviously cold but not deathly cold. 0 degrees versus 40 degrees does not express that concept in a way that is as readily understandable. 100 miles per hour is the speed at which driving becomes significantly dangerous, this is reflected readily by the change from a 2 digit number to a three digit number.

False equivalence

Kek, are there any others? Or just these 3 in the thread?

don't use words you don't understand

>pic related
/thread

Wow that'd be great if I was doing a science experiment in which case I would use the metric. But if I'm making spaghetti, I don't give a fuck.

Impossible to prove wrong.

Decimal is literally based. Base 10.

"It's like being raised with a harness on your brain" - some retard who thinks unit conversion is a difficult task

>not measuring 125 centiliters of water
>not turning your stove on to 100C
>not adding 45 decagrams of spag to water
>not straining it through your 35 micrometer strainer
yuropoors will defend this

Based

Sounds like arbitrary bullshit to me

Metric system is better, there is really no discussion to be had.

>our system is okay when it doesn't matter how good it is

then why doesn't the earth have 100 degrees

It's not difficult, but it is time consuming and completely unnecessary in the 21st century.. or any century AD.

1183 BTU.
Its dumb though, people Don't do this, people Don't think about energy and such. Also mole is SI, not metric

Underrated tbqh.

You're a godamn retard.

360 degrees or 100 degrees, it doesn't matter. It's arbitrary.

The degree is an arbitrary unit; basically any division of a circle would work as a system of measurement. The degree has the advantage that 360 divides evenly by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 & 10 making it easy to mentally calculate an angle; indeed this is the major advantage of all old imperial units.

[COMMENT HIDDEN IN RESPONSE TO THE EUROPEAN HATE SPEECH CENSORSHIP ACT]

Base 10 sucks ass. Not highly divisible, nor granular. Different scales for different units does require more than 2 brain cells to convert, but it's more useful than a decimal shift. Imperial/Fahrenheit is not arbitrary, but has a logical history. Metric/Celsius is the arbitrary one, useful for easy math problems. Dates are filters, not stackable items. Logically, all time should be filtered to a range of a year, then down to a month, then a day. MM/DD/YY compromise between natural speech and by assuming the current year, filtering down to a day, then shifting the year if necessary. DD/MM/YY, is again arbitrarily picked to put things in order, but doesn't follow speech, nor logically filter into a subrange, but a collection of disjointed instances.

SI uses a lot of metric though

why would any sane person use imperial?
