/cyc/ - Giro d'Italia - stage 10 - Foligno to Montefalco (39.8km) Time Trial

*DUMOULIN MEME TRIAL TIME*

Tuesday, 16 May 2017 - Stage 10 in the Giro d'Italia is a hilly time trial on a route between Folignio and Montefalco.
At 39.8 kilometres, the riders cover an undulating route with the last 4.5 kilometres going slightly uphill.

Stage 10 is the first of two individual time trials in edition 100 of the Giro d’Italia.
The riders leave from Foligno, where André Greipel took the 7th stage in last year’s Giro.

The ITT commences with a flat 9.8 kilometres section leading to the first intermediate time check in Bevagna.
Legend has it, Franciscus van Assisi has been preaching to the birds here.

At kilometre 12.7 the route starts to climb for 5.2 kilometres at an average gradient of 3.1% to Madonna delle Grazie.
The route rolls on to San Marco before a gentle descent runs to the second intermediate time check in Bastardo (at kilometre 28.2).

A false flat of almost 5 kilometres, a short descent, before the last 5.7 kilometres takes the riders home to Montafalco at an average gradient of approximately 2%.
The first rider, Matteo Pelucchi, leaves the ramp at 12:45 and the expected arrival of Quintana is around 17:15 – both local times (CEST)

>Eurosport broadcast starts at 13:17, local time. (GMT+1)

god I hate TT stages

Go Rui Costa! I hope he can do a good time trial.

Wait, so Kelderman was the only one that left after the crash? Guess the Sky machine just needed some lube.

Comfiest stages.

press F to pay respects

Yeah, that was fucking brutal. Poor guy couldn't even finish and was obviously disoriented as fuck after the fall, so here's hoping for no brain damage or some other nasty shit like that.

Checks flag, don't be mad Quintana boy can't into TT.
I see him do okay, maybe top 10 if he does well.
Broken his finger in a manner that requires surgery.
Also Geraint is pretty much a bio-engineerd android made from rare nano-tubes and chromoly steel.
Remember this crash in the TdF '15? he rode on:

Is that helper actively trying to kill him buy urging him on the bike?

Top tier scenary if you ask me desu

Madman

...

I do indeed, but theoretically he was half slowed down there. This was a lot faster in both the speed he was traveling at and of the event itself.

2agan's at least that much of a madman on descends he really wants to win. Can't remember if it was last year or two years ago, but he tried to catch up with... whoever the guy was in the break and rode like a madman downhill. Still not enough to catch up but did get his second place since he pulled ahead quite a bit on that descent.

that toms skujins thing is as scary a thing as i've seen in a while. stumbling all over the road, putting his head into oncoming traffic to get his glasses, then stumbling straight into other descenders....and then neutral service lets him back on his fucking bike

>moto causes accident
>people get mad
>moto helps rider from accident
>people get mad

not to excuse the neutral service rider since the man was clearly concussed, but in the heat of the moment on a technical and dangerous descent (and with no inherent medical training), you cannot blame the support guy for going full retard in retrospect

>moto helps rider from accident
Putting a quite obviously seriously concussed rider back on his bike is not helping him.

It doesn't take medical training to spot concussion in someone stumbling all the way across the road, then stumbling all the way back into oncoming traffic.

especially after the Giro flack every moto rider treads on thin ice for anything they do, so he was in that very moment thinking he;d be damned if he did anything at all.

Lombardia was quite special, probably one of the most insane descents ever.

The thing is that 2agan always looks more in control during descending, Nibali wiggles and wobbles and straddles the cord of death in every corner if he goes mental.

Remember Nibali getting blown out by Ion Izagirre on a tour descent last year?

fuck man. stop, just stop

Izagirre hit a little over 110 kmph in an ITT earlier this year

That road looks amazing

Come on Dumoulin. Put a couple of minutes into him.

>sean the bee

Our dreamboat will shine today.

STOP eating your snot Pieter

RIP Brutt

F

>russians in charge of riding responsibly

>Tratnik actually re-overtaking Kiriyenka

kek

Tratnik clearly going for the strava

Oh Kiry. Sky getting no luck this race.

Well doping doesn't help preventing crashes.

>Eastern Europe in charge of staying on their bikes.

nice one, mate

Who do you guys have for today?

For me, I want to believe it's Big Tom.

What kind of fence even is this?

>tfw I live in Foligno

I don't even have another option.

Can you answer this question ?

Lads, I had a good go on Strava yesterday.

Michael "Rusty" Woods, a domestique on Canondale Drapac in the Giro is from my hometown and I beat his time on two segments. I'm certain he wasn't applying himself because I'm very amateur, but it was a good feel all the same.

What question?

Uhh I mean this one

Probably it is still being built, and will be covered in concrete

Good thing for Pavel that it's not finished.

Has anyone ever rode a proper TT bike? Are they as uncomfortable as they look?

jurgen van den broeck is still a pro cyclist! who knew?

Shit, am late to the actual broadcast. Did I miss anything lads?

>ITT, ITT.

Depends on your setup.
They're not at all designed for comfort, properly setup they're designed to put you into a position where your body will disturb the air as minimally as possible.
When one of my bikes got stolen I rode my TT bike for several months without discomfort.
>Brutt kill
>Kiry kills himself 400m before the finish
>GC contenders still to start.

so is quintana on the hot sauce ?

>no veneer in 'ere

>PUCCIO

The Colnago TT bikes are beautiful

Yeah, noticed they just barely broke 50th place, was mostly interested in anything that happened until now. What was Kiryienka's time before he fell? Did he have a shot at the stage? And what exactly happened to the other guy?

The commentators seem so believe Kiry had a legitimate crack at the stage win if he didn't spill. Lost about thirty seconds to his time.

Brutt took a bad line into a chicane corner at a high speed and crashed into the fencing. Didn't look terribly hurt, but he got tangled up pretty badly.

Any stream links?

Should work mate

Fuck lads, I get really tense and nervous when I see people flying around corners in the ITT. I fell off my bike really hard a little while ago and lost heaps of skin, now a clench my ass when I watch this.

whats up DR

tiz-cycling.racing/live-stream/

How much longer until Dumoulin?

about 50 minutes

sexiest TT bike hands down

Alright, thanks. Saw the screens posted earlier, but that was it.

Alright, there goes Geraint. Landa seems to be far behind already so let's see if he managed to recover. Oh and Kiryienka just got dethroned. So basically anyone that comes in at 52 minutes or less would've beaten him regardless.

That Colombian who thinks Nairo will lose only 10(TEN) seconds today

>geraint thomas fell and is all bruised last stage
>pushing 56kmh on the flats
>i shit myself to push 40kmh

These guys are fucking machines

>These guys are using machines

ftfy

Can't wait to see Pinot on this today

I'm a fucking machine ;)

nothing he does will surprise me after he rode the entire Tour with a fractured pelvis

What is everyone's top speed? I did 85km/h once on steep descent. Rarely go above 70 though

jesus fuck
>those wheels
>that integrated headtube geometry
>that xbox hueg BB
>that paint scheme

Look at that subtle off red coloring, the tasteful thickness of the wheels, oh my God it even has a FDJ watermark

Zakarin WILL crash.

I did 77kmh on a descent, 53kmh flat out sprint on the flats

>tfw casul

>Zakarin has a problem staying upright

savage commentary

>not talking top power

Nibbles' gold aero helmet is dumb as hell in a very likeable way

Man, these roads are a fucking mess. Remind me of the roads over here.

>Pinot

Pinot in national champ colours. Muh dick

nice moto-tow for our-tom there

Pinot is a beautiful man, wow.

Do riders get to select their own launch song?

>TJ

TJ needs a hug, a new team, and to set very different goals. He's a broken man.

No more excuses!

Graphics and info are terrible. Giro I am disappoint

No more excuses

I dunno how to ride in the extensions on really shitty roads. I've tried and get bounced out of them on really rough tarmac. I guess going faster and having a rear disc for stability helps a bit.

ZE PINOSHOW !!!

>all these national champions

too beautiful lads

Checkpoint 2 (28.2km)

1. Geraint Thomas (Team Sky): 34:00
2. Bob Jungels (Quick-Step Floors): 34:03
3. Vasil Kiryienka (Team Sky): 34:21
4. Luis Leon Sanchez (Astana) 34:41
17. Tejay Van Garderen (BMC): 35:34

kek, nairo will lose the maglia rosa today
not saying he won't have it in a week tho :^)

TomD killing it

Aww shit, Geraint came even better than expected. Let's see if Tom does now.
