The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.
: You know the drill lads. Post qt monstergirls, discuss qt monstergirls, write about qt monstergirls. Especially qt cow girls. No futa, no traps. If you're into that kind of thing, please make your own thread instead.

triangle: Grace Slick ...and friends - Conspicuous Only in Its Absence >Psych Rock I was never huge on Jefferson Airplane and its sister bands (especially Starship and its horrible AOR singles). Their songwriting never struck me as being as interesting as many of their other contemporaries. I did, however, enjoy Grace Slick's vocals, so I did have some expectation of enjoying this.
This album starts off with the stunning "Sally Go 'Round the Roses", a six and a half minute track that is about as mind bending as you'd expect for 1968. It then gets progressively cornier, bottoming out at "Outlaw Blues" before picking up again with another jam in the form of "White Rabbit." The middle of this album would honestly be pretty terrible if anyone other than Grace Slick were singing, her voice is powerful enough that it almost redeems that AOR atrocities she helped unleash upon the world in the 80s.
3.0
(If there were a single where Sally Go Round the Roses were one side and White Rabbit, it'd be an easy 4.0 though.)
Fish: Ground-Zero - Plays Standards >Avant-Prog, Experimental Rock, Turntable Music, Poseurcore Not as good as RPO. I think the unstoppable motion of RPO suits this band better, every track suddenly cutting out hurts it in my opinion. A lot of these tracks end up getting stuck in a loop of skronky-noise, which is fun the first time but is annoying on relistens - their more subtle tracks like Yume No Hansyu end up leaving a much stronger impression, as the usage of sampling has a fuller presence. The beginning and ending are some of the greatest chaos I've heard, and the cover of Those Were the Days is pretty hilarious. The very good outweighs the mediocre/bad here, so...
3.5

I wanted to write something about another album today so I listened to that new Weezer thing. It's too sad, I don't want to write about it, I don't want to think about it, I want to forget it exists and go on my merry way. I'll listen to another Pike to chase the memory away

been giving nothing but high scores lately, wew don't know how to feel. also the chart with recs from feelist is ready, yay!
>Mariah - うたかたの日々 Well done synthpop, albums like this one tend to struggle with as time passes, this one doesn't. Its length helps it when it starts to run out of ideas. 8+
>Siouxsie and the Banshees - Kaleidoscope It has some variety for a post-punk album, lots of catchy melodies, good instrumentation where the bass stand out like it should, overall the sound is dark, and etheral at times thanks to Siouxsie voice and the guitars. Red light was annoying. 7.5

FISH vs STICK
>The Upsetters - Super Ape >dub + reggae It's alright. Honestly boring and one-note for some tracks.
I know someone made that meme post about Fishmans being dub for plebs, but at least they were able to produce something less predictable before they died.
6-/10
>Fishmans - Uchu Nippon Setagaya >Dream/Ambient Pop The clearest and cleanest I've heard this group, production-wise. This has the sweeter overtones of Long Season, but cut into more conventional tracks. It's still just as consistent as Long Season, too, though sometimes long-winded on the opening tracks. The slow burns for tracks 7 and 8 actually work well, in contrast. Interesting, that this would be their last studio album.
7/10
