Isn't solar power a huge inefficient waste of energy?

Depends on many factors you fucking ignorant nigger

Is Solar only keeps 20% of energy it earns?

Oh hey you're back to spam again

More people to pay for less energy output.
Sound good.

Only reason that's true is because dems have killed off so many of those jobs.

Nope, on every level it's a huge waste.

>Celebrating energy source so inefficient it actually requires MORE people to run it.
>Lefties everyone.

Point at them, point and laugh.

What next the "no metallurgy, nap flint for your blades full employment act"?

Makes me wonder why China builds tons of photovoltaics per year and India too where solar power is already cheaper than coal.

>jobs entirely subsidized by the american tax payer and cannot survive alone in the private market
wew lad

really makes you think

Tax and spend doesnt work because youre spending on something that doesnt work with my money

Maybe cause they don't have power lines in rural areas?

they voted against it because hundreds of thousands if not millions of people are employed by coal alone.
>libtard

Less waste products, more jobs, cleaner environment. When one of the widest concerns in the US is the loss of good jobs due to automation and offshoring why wouldn't you like an industry that takes more people and requires those people to be here?

Yeah I'm sure that must be it.

>solar power
Don't make the same mistake we did!
If you subsidize the technology, set a limit first!
When the sun shines we produce more current than can be used or sold. Energy prices regularly go negative.

This Coal is dead, meaning WV is even more shitty. The only thing they brought in were the god awful wind turbines over on Storm Mountain, which hey let's kill off tourism too.

>cheaper than coal
Maybe in the sense that you don't actively pay the sun for its light but I really doubt long term it's cheaper, especially China and India where environmental concerns with coal aren't brought up nearly as much. I'm going to need a source

> mountain niggers everyone

Daily reminder that at sunny days in Germany, Germany needs to basically give away energy for free to neighboring countries or else the solar plants would overload the network.

Pick one of the first google search results, nigger

yeah OPs a fag

test

faggot

Distance to the equator is one thing that matters

>Too much energy
>Crisis of the fucking century

>by 2020
Pure speculation by someone who's making money off of this, entirely trustworthy

>More jobs than all the others combined
>Produces negligible amounts of power compared to others

If only jobs correlated with production, eh cuck?
Maybe if they hire a million more solar workers, solar will work.

Meanwhile the 2 largest solar firms in the world are mid bankruptcy because their solar plants are physically incapable of producing power at a profit.

Energy production isn't really a problem, energy storage and distribution is the problem.

>Solar energy prices hit a new record low in January with the auction of 420 megawatts in Rajasthan at 4.34 rupees a kilowatt-hour.
>In comparison coal tariffs range between 3-5 rupees/kWh.

Do you need everything spoonfed?

For anyone curious,
Abengoa is the largest european solar power company, they are going bankrupt because their plants couldn't produce nearly the quota required to stay profitable, even with massive subsidies.
SunEdison is a massive US solar production company that couldn't meet quotas and is going out of business.
Honorable mention to US company Solyndra for getting almost a billion dollar grant before declaring bankruptcy, I'm sure the CEO is laughing all the way to the bank, then back to his multimillion dollar yacht.

20 year pay back on the panels. This is without government subsidies. That is how long it takes to get back you lr investment.

The average life of a solar panel is 15-20 years, after that, you have to replace it.

This needs to stop.
What are we going to do when we run out of sun?
These stupid people will ruin everything.

Sort of, 15-20 year before performance begins to degrade.

That's just the price sold on an energy auction and it's breakdown by kilowatt hour. Nothing is said about how much that energy cost to produce

>We've killed oil, gas, and coal and unemployed millions and millions of people!
>But look! There are a hundred thousand jobs in solar power, which cannot survive on it's own and requires government subsidization!
>Republishits BTFO!!!!!!

Fuck off.

Don't forget about the failure of Ivanapah
>2 billions spent, mostly from the public money
>produces 40% of previously estimated amount of electricity
>literally paid to not declare bankruptcy

topkek

SunEdison needed to fill bankruptcy because their stock fell massively after announcing major expansion plans and plans to acquire other solar companies.

Where did you get the information that SunEidson is one of the two largets solar power companies? Their annual output isn't even that big.

Grids are still designed around coal sadly. Honestly, the coal industry worldwide is increasingly looking down the barrel. In terms of solar wind and tidal, as well as grid level battery storage we are still at very early stages of development.

If OP wasn't such an obvious shill, he'd realize that green power provides the ability to completely fuck off all the fucking retarded but oil rich states the west perpetually dances around.

I want alternative power in the hope that I will see the Saudis destitute within my lifetime.

The Americans obviously took a shine to King Salman's dick

Actually, it does, considering energy companies break down the cost by maintenance, fuel (not in this case) and amortisation costs...

This is not taking in account subsidies, though.

> more jobs
> still only produces maybe 5% of nations electricity
Sounds like it's very inneficient and a waste of taxpayer money

Oil is a Boom/Bust industry, and the price of Oil is going back up. Oilfield Service companies are slowly beginning to hire again. Once it hits between $60-$80 per barrel theres going to be the beginning of another boom again and millions of high paying jobs for the average man and woman to work will be created.

Solar will NEVER fill the void of the Oil and Gas Industry. Never.

Well then, it's a good thing I'm not a Conservative and instead I'm a National Socialist then. Huh?

But seriously...what are Conservatives trying to "conserve"?

Everyone says this. Realistically, expansion will likely continue in renewable especially if the price of fossil fuels goes up again.

The issue here is not capacity form solar or wind but the lack of grid level storage.

>including oil to pad your stats

Pretty hilarious desu

They produce energy, sure. The issue is that theyre expensive, and not cost effective.

>he actually believed that

Oh yes, lets talk about half energy like wind farms, otherwise known as bird blenders.

Dis you know bird blenders can't run during storms, you know the best time you'd think to run them. Instead of they go to fast they have to stop them to avoid breaking yay inefficiency!

Have you also driven near them? I have it is sooo heavy on noise pollution, can be in a car with the windows up and still hear the swoosh swoosh swoosh.

But don't get me started on solar panels :^)

This thread is about solar energy you dipshit

Does anyone know anyone that has solar panels?

I see them on maybe 1 out of every 100 homes, I live in the desert though, it's 114 today.

>1 post

Every time

>solar
>jobs

Top kek no

I have a 5.8KW array on my house

ask me anything

everybody out here in Hawaii has them. Great to be living offgrid. Thing is they are a major target for thefts. Just have to hope nobody is crazy enough to climb onto your roof. Can't booby trap them sadly.

I've seen it in a small desert shack as the primary source of power. One panel is good if you only plan to run a fridge and maybe plug in your phone during the day.

For anything else you would need more energy.

>Be government
>Regulate heavily oil, gas, and coal industries
>Force them to shutdown facilities and make thousands of peole lose their jobs
>Meanwhile solar energy is being funded by the same government.
>Less jobs but the solar gets the bigger share
>Somehow solar energy is now considered to produce more jobs than other sources of energy.

How is this even a valid argument? By that logic we should abolish automation because then we'll have more jobs.

Of course solar is going to create more jobs, since there need to be people to install and maintain them, and it being a fairly recent technology and one that can be implemented on an individual basis means plenty of jobs, compared to managing a large oil, gas, or coal energy company.
