Say one positive thing and two negative things about Breaking Bad

The science man uses science to MacGyver a solution gimmick did not continue after the second season.
The black comedy didn't last either, and all supporting character arcs turned to shit by the fourth season.
+ The show was perfect in the sense that it was shot beautifully, acted superbly at times, and written decently, yet was accessible to more casual audiences thanks to some hokey plot points and easily digestible themes. Never tried too hard, never dropped the ball.
- Because of that, it had its fair share of cheese
- It also suffered from trying to keep secondary characters around on screen, for no real reason. Quite a bit of "filler" that, while adding to the characters, could have been done in a far more efficient way. Most side-plots could have been condensed.
They did run out of using chemistry to win ideas, but I also don't mind him planning ahead/thinking faster things. Though with that comes Gus being the final obstacle rather than some "neo-nazis"
negative:
>white
>male
positive:
>dead
Fucking this, Hank was so based
>should have ended after the Gus arc, or prolonged Gus as the villain
>Jesse is insufferable
>Hank is based
>Hanks wife was more annoying than Skylar
Marie was hot, be quiet, she got told off enough, it's Sky who never got her comeuppance and whose actress IRL thinks if you don't like Skyler you're sexist
>that pic
Except Walt was a drug dealer endangering his family, as proven by Gus' threat to kill them.
Positive:
- Ground-breaking series unlike anything before or after.
Negative:
- Lackadaisical character development for non-starring people (Schrader's wife, Betsy, or whatever her name was, several others)
- Should have gone another season or so but they ended it about as gracefully as one could
>muh rocks
how was Breaking Bad groudbreaking?
They're geodes, dude. Pick up a book
Skylar was a cunt long before she found out he was involved in the drug trade
>Pinkman is a little bitch
>First season is bland and boring as fuck
>Hank was based until the very end.
+ Skyler
- Lack of black comedy later on
- Skyler
Went on for too long; the outcome of any of the actions started in Season 1 is clearly visible to anyone and while some of the scenes (especially those that take our characters on a pause like 'The Fly') are great to watch the whole process seems more tedious than it needs to be. Characters go in circles spinning faster and faster which might be a nice touch for some but I have never found them so interesting to be engrossed by it.
I have currently started Season 4 and since the end of S1 the show is, for me, on life support to ensure more bucks for AMC and more wacky hijinks to show.
Should have been condensed into a glorious and contained 3 season story arc.
And I like The Wire and Mad Men. Character development is great but BB doesn't really do that. It's characters are already at 100% from the end of Season 1. The rest is a retreading of the same ground to establish a realistic 'downfall' of a good person.
tl;dr it's too long causing it to be overly boring
Fuck, I thought that's Vic Mackey and that this is a thread about a show that's actually good.
Literally proto-BB
Skyler
>came up with the idea of Walt having a gambling problem and lied to everybody in order to protect him
>came up with the plan to buy the car wash because it actually made sense
>laundered Walt's money and was looking out for him
>knew that Ted not paying the IRS was a problem that could bring them down and instantly took care of it, even became a criminal herself to protect Walt
Why has no one in the history of Sup Forums ever called Walter a cuck or photoshopped the JUST hair on him?
Someone cucks the wife, you think it's not him? HE is the cucker.
>Why has no one in the history of Sup Forums ever called Walter a cuck
Exhibit A:
>SUCH A POWEFUL BADASS KINGPIN OMG XD
>Has all his money stolen by a bunch of small time hicks who also kill his brother-in-law in front of him
Has there ever been a bigger cuck than Walter White?
Can you imagine those Nazis trying to pull that shit with Tony Soprano or Avon Barksdale or even Gus Fring? They'd be dead in no time.
Exhibit B:
Whoah, it's almost as if Walter White being a wimpy cuck who was emasculated by his domineering wife was part of the reason he turned to the meth business
Exhibit C:
A cuckold, by the very definition of the word an not the bastardized version it has become on Sup Forums, is simply a man who has been cheated on. So yes. Walter White is a cuck.
>poweful badass kingpin
He's always in over his head except a couple of "satisfying" scenes like where he tells the junkie/his boss "stay out of my territory. The rest of the time he's flying by the seat of his balls and getting lucky
+ Acting all around was pretty good, especially from Bryan Cranston
+ Well shot with interesting use of POV shots
+ Good build up of suspense throughout the series
+ Great black comedy tone in the earlier seasons
- The show felt like it was phoning it in after S4
- Due to the show being predicated on "twists and turns" and suspense generation its a bore to rewatch when you know what's around the corner
- Most of Walt's family is unlikeable
- Jesse was a really weak character for the amount of screen time he was given
- Forgettable finale after what was a good few episodes before it.
1 character done well is enough to sustain a show if he's in most scenes, and Walt was good. It just drags the show down a little when you have Gus backstory or Marie stealing/lying plots.
Walt being able to out-think everybody but getting fucked by the skinheads is ridiculous. They left you with that barrel of cash. Use it to hire 20 gangbanger fucking thugs to storm their hideout, and kill everybody afterwards. There, you got the rest of your barrels of cash.
Positive: It's literally perfect
Negative: It's over
Negative: I can't re-experience it for the first time
Leave redditor
I won't leave. I'll post more than ever.
Then stay.
I will.
I still have no idea what the fuck the whole minerals thing was about
Why does everyone hate Season 5? Walt and Mike's feud was great.
daily reminder that LITERALLY every actor in this show is below 5'11
+ Hank
- Boring, can't get into it.
- Can't say I don't enjoy it without people losing their shit and telling me "that it really picks off after 24 more hours of watching"
Is Walt the most badass main character in mainstream TV show?
+it's an accessible entry level cable drama that served as a stepping stone to more artful television for a lot of people
-the last season was completely unnecessary and got dragged out over 2 years
-jesse is fucking awful
the science was really not a great part of the show
>genius chemist almost dies before realizing how to make a voltaic cell battery
Jesse is the plebfilter character.
>implying the episode where he confronts Spooge wasn't kino
>the last season was completely unnecessary
Right, should've ended with Hank on the shitter.
+ it was good
- it was bad
- it wasnt good
+Hal
+Watley
-His wife
-I couldnt watch more then the first episode, it's that bad
I don't understand Jesse liking kids. He didn't even try to diddle them so why was he so protective? He was so upset he cried over his girlfriends son. He almost got killed over his friends murderer because he was 10-11
+It's a nice intro to better television. Like a lot of people, Breaking Bad was my first real "high tier" show, allowing me to find other shows, such as The Wire and Mad Men.
+It gave us Better Call Saul, which has been great so far, possibly better than Breaking Bad
-Certain character/arcs weren't that great/well developed, such as Marie and her kleptomania, the Mexican twins, Nazis, etc.
-Jessie constantly wavering between decisions, such as liking to hating Walt, like a complete retard.
Breaking Bad had two good moments. (When Gus kills the rival cartel by poisoning them all, and Gus's death)
Those two moments aren't good enough to sit through this mediocre show though.
There is a lot of bullshit that happens in the show that just serves as padding, it makes watching the show tedious.
6/10
Good to watch if you have nothing better.
Not really worth recommending.
Not worth rewatching.
Season 4 is the best.
The final season and finale are mediocre (more so than the show overall).
>implying this isn't kino
+ Skyler was an excellent character, only filthy plebeians fail to understand her role in the overarching structure
- Too many subplots that were never relevant in the end
- Walt Jr aging like milk
He felt neglected and misunderstood by his own parents. Is BB really too deep for you?
>it's a guy is involved with big time drug dealers and murderers and doesn't constantly watch his back or set up contingency plans and arm himself and doesn't prevent himself from being vulnerable by letting his family and loved ones be connected to him in any way character
At least half of it is in the title.
Why would he feel that way? He knew he was a junkie and is the problem
