ITT well written female character

ITT well written female character

THE TERMS "WELL WRITTEN MALE CHARACTER", AND "WELL WRITTEN FEMALE CHARACTER", ARE OXYMORONIC; IF THE CHARACTER'S GENDER IS EMPHASIZED, ESPECIALLY IF TO THE DEGREE AT WHICH IT DETERMINES THEIR PERSONALITY, IT IS NOT A CHARACTER THAT IS WELL WRITTEN.

She's an awful person and huge slut. True to her gender.

Are you saying there isn't a difference between men and women?

not even true from a certain point of view. there are plenty of real people who make their gender or other superficial characteristic the basis of their identity

It might be a meme answer, but the only female character I've really liked and respected in a film was Ripley from Alien/Aliens.

...

NO, I AM NOT; IMPROVE YOUR "READING COMPREHENSION".

HOW IS THE FACT THAT SOME PERSONS IDENTIFY THEMSELVES WITH THEIR GENDER CONTRADICTORY TO MY STATEMENT, ACCORDING TO YOU?

>IF THE CHARACTER'S GENDER IS EMPHASIZED, ESPECIALLY IF TO THE DEGREE AT WHICH IT DETERMINES THEIR PERSONALITY, IT IS NOT A CHARACTER THAT IS WELL WRITTEN.
(you) as the viewer can clearly tell if the actor is a man or a woman, so the character's gender doesn't need to be emphasized in the actual story but you can still tell

a manipulative, hysterical, self-absorbed, airhead

You know, if Don wore a cape we might actually have mad men threads on Sup Forums once in a while

that doesn't contradict OP though

/thread

Pathetic faggot, go back to /r9k/.

pic related.

>motivated by a strong maternal instinct
>goes into the den of the beast to rescue Newt
>"dont look sweetheart"

Aliens has one of the greatest female characters of all time.

And even that couldn't save it from being trash.

>said no cinephile ever

Who're you quoting?

Every man with taste will tell you that Aliens is inferior in every way. Run of the mill action film, compared to cult sci-fi film with horror elements that was Alien.

Fuck off you worthless slut. Back to

Roro memes aside, she was a well written strong female character.

Blunt's character in Sicario, portrays women realistically, getting her ass saved by a man every time she attempts something

>said no cinephile ever

fuck off.

Dredd's villain was also solid.

What does /peggy/ think of Edith?

This is exactly why Sicario was hated by feminists including (((her))).

Well written... possibly. Realistic? Fuck no.

What, strong female characters are unrealistic now?

Delusional cunt with penis envy detected.
Tumblr is that way

First post, best post.

you are such a pseudointellectual

Not if theyre well written like Ripley/Scully.

Are you mentally challenged?
it's rehtorical, don't answer it

Considering both of them are my favorites, what's so unrealistic about Rookie and Salander?

You are both mentally and physically inferior. You are also nothing more than a glorified hole.

...

I'm a male, and I'm against SJW/PC bullshit that's been shoving down our throats as of late, but I don't see how females always need male characters to save 'em. Go back to your echo chamber known as /r9k/.

Great pick.

Salander is unrealistic, because a woman with her levels of trauma and childhood would literally cry all day/drug herself/ kill herself.

Furthermore she has alot of unrealistic plot driving skills like:

>perfect hacker
>deus ex golfclub
>tattooist
.
.
.

Rookie is unrealistic, because she is psychic. That alone is enough to make it unrealistic.

Dont get me wrong I consider Salander comfy-core and Rookie waifu material, but theyre not realistic characters.

Thanks for elborating, good to see you're not like that /r9k/ retard. I still disagree with you, but you at least provided good reasoning.

...

...

Well to be fair, there are very few written characters generally speaking.

Im not going to pretend to be a Pulitzer-prize-winning writer, but alot of characters in cinema or even prose are simply lacking in motivation.

>Why does he do that?
>Why would he care?
.
.
.

Once you can understand or even emphasize the character's motivation, things become clearer and make more sense.

Ill use Ripley as an example of why shes so well written.

>Alien
>Everyone dies
>Shes smart and despite shitting her pants masters the creature
>goes into cryo with her cat
>Aliens
>has recurring nightmares
>has PTSD
>becomes asocial and abrasive
>doesnt care about anything other than not being a pilot anymore
>gets offered a chance to redeem herself if she goes back
>makes the active choice to confront her fears
>shes scared and quiet
>is good at what she is trained to do like using the robot forklift mecha
>has a healthy fear of the xenomorphs
>lets others run the operation
>when shit goes down she starts voicing her concerns to Gorman
>takes Newt under her wing
>starts making more calls when Burke goes psycho
>takes charge, but allows Hicks to make all the decisions
>finally they escape, but Newt gets left behind
>despite all her fears and all her PTSD, she makes the conscious choice to go save Newt alone against the xenomorphs, because her mother instinct is so strong
>using her intelligence and technology she masters her fears and foes to save the one thing she is biologically programmed to love (Newt)
>risks her own life and only at the very end makes it out alive
>uses her skills to fight the queen and barely wins

Thats a well written female strong character, because she isnt magically good at anything.

Her motivations go from "pilot-license" to "mother-instinct".

Its perfect kino.

I'm quite aware of what a well written character is, but thanks for the effort.

Ok, so now compare that to the motivations and backgrounds of Rookie and Salander.

Notice the difference?

Yes, I realize that I was in the wrong here.

> MUH SOGGY KNEES HOW DARE THEY

I'm serious, why do you choose to come here when reddit's in existence?

He actually argues like an adult.

Back to your containment board.

Samefagging's low, simp.

Back to your safe space

>samefagging

...

Just ignore him.

You need to go back to your safe space buddy, it's clear that all these differing opinions are too much for you and you're beginning to be overwhelmed.

What was the point of that screencap? All you did was prove me right

I'm going to watch X Files now, so I'll do that.

> YOU'RE SEXIST, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY

Are you sure I'm the one who requires the safe space?

Don't forget to downvote him too, with enough downvotes his hateful misogynistic comment will be hidden. Like come on, it's 2016, can you believe this bigot?

Where did you get that from my post exactly? Who are you quoting?

Peggy could be the best written female character of all time and I wouldn't know it because all I can think when she's on screen is how fucking ugly she is.

I'm not going to spoonfeed you. Reread the thread.

Noone has said that or anything close to that. You're getting unbelievably upset to the point where you're just greentexting random shit in all caps to assault this imaginary giga SJW who is supposedly arguing with you. Go retreat to your safe space and count to ten, I can see that your first venture into the world outside of your hugbox has not gone too well.

Came into the thread to post this

I've been on here for longer than you, that's for sure.

>tripfag
Unlikely. Go back to r/the_donald, reddit immigrant.

Google the trip. There are archived posts with my trip from almost a decade ago, Sup Forums tourist

HAHA le epic plebbit may may xDDDD

>He actually created a trip just so he could put it on years later in case anyone accused him of being new

Reddit really does seem more your speed my dude.

As a person with 4chanx installed, I have to say that the samefagging in this thread is outrageous. Are sjws trying to take this board over or something?

> 9 year old trip
> created a year ago

hahaha faggot

shut up, tripfags are the fucking worst, you come to an explicitly anonymous site and create an account and now you do this? just go somewhere else please

Watch more films friend.

Awkward. only had 3 seasons and there is nothing you can say to change this fact. NOTHING.

You're quite right, user, there were only ever three (3) seasons of Awkward.
(And thank fuck for that.)
