How come any average athlete can become pro at baseball if they want? Would it mean playing baseball at the top level is extremely easy?

>any average athlete can become pro at baseball if they want?

Like who?

Any athlete who wished to play in MLB. Like Tebow and Jordan, they came and despite not knowing how to play, became first team.

>Like Tebow and Jordan, they came and despite not knowing how to play, became first team.

Tebow and Jordan were both very good high school baseball players.

And Jordan did not make it anywhere near the "first team." He was a terrible AA player with a 500ish OPS. To put that into perspective, it's like a basketball player shooting 30% from the field.

Tebow is basically playing college level baseball and he's well below average.

In American sports, it's usually the opposite. More failed baseball players have made it in the NBA and NFL than the other way around.

What an idiot

because its a child's version of cricket

Cricket:

No baserunning,

No elite throwing required,

No need to tag runners,

Played on a field with boundaries that little league baseball players play on here

Not penalized for swinging and missing

Much slower exit velocities

Boat oar for a bat

"No"

You sound like a guy who tries to show the advantages of a small dick.

>You sound like a guy who tries to show the advantages of a small dick.

Baseball is the big dick, cricket is the small one to the point where cricket teams hire baseball people to teach them how to have sex.

You'll never see a 5'3" Paki cricket player on a baseball coaching staff.

The only thing bigger dick in cricket is that they don't use gloves.

"That will really show him", thought the big American as he clicked the "send" button.

Tell me again, what is most watched of the 2, cricket or baseball?

And it's not even that big of a dick.

Cricket players don't have to receive 90-100mph throws from other players in the field.

They don't have to guard bases by putting their hand in front of it to prevent a baserunner sliding spikes up from reaching the base.

Much, much lower exit velocities to contend with. There's no Stanton nor Judge hitting 120 mph lasers at you. No Paki is fielding that shit barehanded and not coming away with shattered hands.

gay

>pro baseball

Tebow makes like $20,000/year in the shit league he's in.

>Frenchie defending cricket.

>And he's using the "popularity" argument now.

Hi, Mohammad

People who don't follow baseball fail to understand that minor league and independent teams will sometimes stoop to this shit to sell tickets.

It was even revealed that Tebow was grooved pitches in his workout to look good for the scouts.

ftw.usatoday.com/2017/05/pitcher-chad-smith-grooved-fastballs-showcase-tim-tebow-mets-tryout-mlb-minor-league-stats-new-york

And the Mets GM flatly stated he signed Tebow because he was a name.

No, they can't. Baseball requires an odd set of skills that take a while to develop. The average man would never be able to get on any minor league team. Tebow (and I guess Jordan) were both extremelt athletic who played baseball before football/basketball and were absolutely legendary names. Neither were very good and they were signed because of their names and absolutely nothing else.

I fail to see what specific set of skills is needed for baseball. 2bh tennismen swing at balls way faster than baseball with nearly 100% hit success. So they would be pretty good at baseball, but they don't play the sport, because there is more money in tennis.
I see Tebow is a starter in his team, and he barely practiced baseball, and 2bh I don't think Tebow is a great athlete, only average. That shows it's pretty easy to become pro at baseball.

terrible bait

>haha oh wow look how big and strong our athletes are haha big haha STRONG
>this is every american sports thread

Thanks for the gold kind user :)

what a shitty thread

>first team
>top level

You're retarded, he's playing in the minor leagues. Basically the 4th division. And he didn't just pick up baseball out of nowhere, he was a very good player in high school, he just chose football instead.

>started by a euroshit

>despite not knowing how to play

retard detected

there's actually quite a few people who still think Jordan played in the MLB. i wonder how many americans are aware of minor league baseball.

Stop responding you fucking retards

>2bh tennismen swing at balls way faster than baseball

No they don't.

A tennis ball is soft and hollow and is much more affected by drag than a baseball. A 130mph serve drops to about 58mph by the time it reaches the other player on a bounce.

And of course they're going to make contact more. A racket's sweetspot is 20 times the size of a baseball bat's.

Yuropoors, man.

i don't mind it actually

Getting to AA is still pretty respectable. I doubt a baseball pro like Miguel Cabrera would even sniff D-League.

Don't know why you'd bring up a Venezuelan who never heard about basketball until he got called up to miami

Amir garret was a high level prospect for the NBA and joined baseball instead because longer career and much more money , he had a good start until teams figured him out and is rocking between triple a and majors

Because Michael and Miguel are the same name, and Miguel is the best RHH in the game much like MJ was the best scorer. Who the fuck is Amir Garret anyway.
Danny Ainge played baseball as well.

>Not penalized for swinging and missing

Bowlers know exactly what they're doing m8. If they're not aiming at the stumps the ball is intended for you to either swing and miss or edge and be caught out by the wicketkeeper/slips. And you'll get instantly bowled out if you miss a spun ball. Batting is in no way about fearlessly trying to slog everything out the ground.

>Miguel is the best RHH
It's not 2013 anymore, dickhead

He's a shitty player in low A ball.

>Michael and Miguel are the same name
Not at all
A superstar in baseball is not the same as a superstar in basketball

You have one kobe, mj, lebron per 10 years
Folks you can point and say they're the absolute best

In baseball the best pitcher goes down by stats and league they play in , Kershaw is the best in the NL while sale and kuechel are tied imo for the AL

It's more numbers , more thinking involved for all positions in baseball than basketball , not even memeing it's fact

>Getting to AA

He didn't "get" to AA. He was promoted there on name alone and was well below a league average player.

Someone like Kenny Lofton would certainly sniff the D-League if he took up basketball at 31.

Shit, Master P at 31 was signed to a 10 day contract by the Grizzlies and scored 8 points in a preseason game.

This frog has literally made 3 threads about baseball this week.
Obsessed

He's in Single A which is one of the lowest tiers in baseball and he's not doing particularly well either. He has a background in baseball too being All-State in high school

Did you check the pic? He's playing for the METS my dude. Next you'll tell me that Mets aren't top division?

no, he's playing for the columbia fireflies.

just make sure to understand everyone here is taking you serious because you're french and all

he was wearing that for spring training

spring training is where you have every player in the majors under your team , good to okay players from the main minors(double A and triple A) and then the prospects from the lower levels

he was invited to spring training on name alone and quickly left

Plus a lot of minor league teams share a name with their major league affiliates, especially at very low levels of the minors.

You've seen nothing.

Kevin Costner and Billy Crystal played Spring Training games.

It means nothing. It's literally the baseball season where players go less than half speed to warm up for the real thing.
