Being aware of your surroundings is one of the best ways to keep trouble at bay, as a case involving an armed citizen shows. An Ortonville, Mich., man noticed that the windows on his car were fogged up one morning, tipping him off that something was awry. Then he noticed that someone was under a blanket in the backseat. The resident, who was armed, pulled out his gun, opened the door and ordered the stranger to lie on the ground. He called 9-1-1 and held the bad guy at gunpoint until the police arrived. Police arrested the trespasser and charged him in connection with the earlier shooting of his estranged wife and her friend. (Detroit Free Press, Detroit, MI, 11/16/17)

When a would-be thief was stood up to twice by armed homeowners in broad daylight, he knew his luck had run out. In the first incident, the armed burglar attempted to steal a motorcycle, pointing a handgun at the homeowner when he tried to intervene. However, the homeowner responded in kind by drawing his own pistol, causing the criminal to flee. At the second residence, he again aimed his firearm at the homeowner and demanded the keys to their car. He was once again met with the homeowner's gun pointed in his direction. Police later found the thug and charged him with armed burglary, grand theft and home invasion. (Venice Gondolier Sun, Sarasota, FL, 12/23/17)

Four would-be kidnappers’ plans were thwarted when a father fired three rounds to scare off the troublemakers before they snatched his daughter. The father was alerted by dogs barking and motion-detector lights going on. He noticed a gang of males lurking near the garage, trying to get inside the home. As the bullets flew, the suspects fled. When they were arrested later, the police found guns, knives, gloves, dark clothes and a roll of tape in the vehicle. Apparently, the man’s 17-year-old daughter was the kidnappers’ target. When the homeowner opened the front door, the burglar rushed at him with a framing hammer whereupon the homeowner shot him. The intruder ran a short distance, collapsed and died of his wounds. Police determined the shooting was justified. (newsok.com, Midwest City, OK, 7/21/17)

Great examples. However, this required someone with the wherewithal to know what to do and how to respond in stressful situations involving a deadly weapon. Not everyone can do that.
NOR has this mindset stopped mass shootings and other bullshit. You call for mental health checks, yet let Trump repeal that ruling with one of his unnecessary EOs. No real fight for keeping that, instead you don't give a shit about how to stop gun violence, because "muh rights!" is always gonna be the rallying call, despite the party as a whole taking away, or restricting OTHER important rights that mean FAR more than the 2nd Amendment to a Democracy.

I have more self defense webms but they are too large to post here. fuck you hiroshimoot.

Women stick together, especially in defense of a friend. That’s one takeaway from a Nebraska shooting that followed an alleged domestic assault. The victim’s ex-boyfriend had reportedly been engaging in “stalking” behavior before things came to a head in early August. That day, a district attorney said, the former lover showed up at the house and physically attacked his ex, throwing her to the ground and putting his hands around her neck. When she escaped from his clutches, he struck her with a piece of pipe, verbally threatening to kill her. One of the victim’s friends then pulled her gun and told him to stop. When he sneered, “Go ahead and shoot me” and raised the pipe to strike again, the armed citizen fired, hitting him in the abdomen. Don’t get between a mother and her child—the mother’s love will win out almost every time. That’s one of the takeaways a burglar in Indianapolis learned. A 19-year-old male was forcing his way into an apartment. The adult female resident, who has several children, responded with lethal gunfire, and the suspect died in the doorway of her home. Witnesses not only defended the woman’s right to shoot, but also provided information about two alleged accomplices in the burglary. “It is disheartening that we see burglaries resulting in death, but we live in Indiana and it’s legal for people to have guns to protect themselves,” said Indianapolis Metro Police Department officer Aaron Hamer. The mother and children were not hurt. (fox59.com, Indianapolis, IN, 6/7/17)

>complaining about someone putting words in your mouth when you yourself put words in others' mouths
No one said people are always in mortal danger. The point is that mortal danger can occur when you're not expecting it, and at those times, you might only be able to rely on yourself or your family, meaning it would be best to be armed with a firearm to maximize your chances of survival. This entire thread is proof of the defensive value of firearms. What would have happened to that girl if those 4 abductors hadn't been shot at by her father? What would have happened to the 80 year old woman if she hadn't shot the home invader? When seconds count the police are just minutes away, and a firearm in the hands of a defender can be the difference between life and death. And it's not about thinking you're Rambo, it's about taking steps to ensure the protection of your family, friends, and property.

I wasn't intentionally putting words in your mouth, I was imitating a typical anti-gun liberal. I have heard many liberals say that people don't need guns, that only police should have them, that you don't need guns to be safe, and you couldn't protect yourself even if you had them because "lul ur not Rambo"

And as for your remark about good and bad guys, I will say that I don't think most liberals/leftists are evil, but they are misguided, and to use a cliche: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"

Justifiable self-defense. That’s how Oklahoma officials have described a triple shooting by a 22-year-old who used an AR-15-style rifle to kill three intruders who broke into his home. The young man was asleep when three strangers, all clad in black, broke into the house. After being awakened by noises made during the break-in, the resident grabbed his semi-automatic rifle. Seeing the intruders, whose faces were covered with masks, the armed citizen fired, killing two suspects on the spot; the third ran away, but died in the driveway. After the young man shot the home invaders, he barricaded himself in his room and called 9-1-1. When the police arrived, they discovered that one of the troublemakers was armed with a knife, while a second had a pair of brass knuckles. A weeklong investigation led officials to determine that the shooter apparently was in fear for his life when he shot, thus he was protected under Oklahoma’s “Stand Your Ground” law. A woman has since been arrested and charged in connection with planning the burglary. (Tulsa World, Tulsa, OK, 4/4/17)

Authorities stated that the homeowner appears to have acted within the law. (Courier Press, Evansville, IN, 5/21/17)

Early one morning, two hooded and armed thugs barged into an apartment by kicking in the front door. One of the residents, a Marine veteran, jumped up off the couch in his living room when he heard the loud noises. (The Onlooker, Foley, AL, 3/8/17)

Miami officials hope that footage from a home security camera will help identify a would-be burglar. The video shows a mother of two using a firearm to chase off the man who gained unlawful entry into her home. Shortly after he broke in, the intruder found himself staring down the barrel of a shotgun, which made him decide to run off. “He was running for his life and kept looking back, making sure I wasn’t going to shoot him in the back,” said the mother, who was home with her 10-year-old and toddler at the time of the home intrusion. The woman told local reporters that she didn’t want to shoot for a couple of reasons: one was that the threat had dissipated when he ran off; the other is that she didn’t want to traumatize her children more than they already had been. Police found the abandoned getaway car, and they passed the video to media outlets to help track down the suspect. (local10.com, Miami, FL, 3/21/17)

A criminal was taken by surprise when he knocked on the door of a house late one night. When one of the resident’s answered, the robber pointed a gun at him and tried to force his way inside. Luckily, she had her own firearm and was able to retrieve it and fire it at her abductor, hitting him with multiple shots. The criminal was taken to a hospital and charged with armed robbery, abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and wearing a mask in public. The store clerk was not harmed. (The Winchester Star, Winchester, VA, 1/27/17)

The rate of successful self-defense with a gun is far, far lower than the rate of crimes that use a gun. I'll be generous and say it's 50 to 1 against, even though the ratio is probably in the hundreds.

Therefore, we'll be safer if we ban them nationwide, than if we don't. Even if you cut the number of self defense stories to 0, the amount of gun violence goes down far more sharply ... when there aren't guns around.

The veteran drew his own firearm and fired at both men, killing one. “Not only did he save himself, his friend and protect everyone around them, he may have saved another individual’s life if these people had continued to do this,” said Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons. (Belleville News-Democrat, Venice, IL, 2/4/17)

A man committed what police said was a violent home invasion when he used a pick axe to break through three doors of the home of a man who lives and works at his boat dealership. When the intruder gained entry through the third door, the owner, according to the police captain, “had no choice but to defend himself,” and fired two shots, killing the trespasser. In Indiana, a state conservation officer owes his life to an armed citizen. After receiving a call about a suspicious person, the officer approached a vehicle parked on the roadside. The vehicle’s owner began to resist and fight the officer as he tried to arrest the loiterer. Noticing the disturbance, a nearby resident came to the officer’s aid. She fired one shot, and hit the assailant in the torso. The officer, who suffered assault injuries, and the attacker were taken to the hospital, where the bad guy later died. The woman will not be charged. (The Enquirer, Rising Sun, IN, 2/22/17)

>The rate of successful self-defense with a gun is far, far lower than the rate of crimes that use a gun
[citation needed]

>Therefore, we'll be safer if we ban them nationwide, than if we don't. Even if you cut the number of self defense stories to 0, the amount of gun violence goes down far more sharply ... when there aren't guns around.
>Implying criminals won't be able to get guns
Kinda like how it's difficult to buy marijuana because it's illegal?

Dub dubs checked

Did any of these examples involve assault rifles used in self-defense? Any at all?

No. That's because assault rifles are mass murder machines, designed to kill as many people out of crowd as possible. They are completely unnecessary except as an instrument of death.

Ban assault rifles and all other automatic and/or high-caliber weapons. They have no place in society.

You dont read gud lol

Hey stupid!
These actions most definitely stop mass shootings... they were successful at thwarting the crime therefore the good guys win.....when only police and criminals have guns, what will you do when you’re home invaded and have to watch your family get raped while waiting for a 20min police response?

>No
Wrong. RTFT

If everyone had a gun we wouldn't know who the shooter was.

If everyone had a gun a car backfire would cause a domino shooting with hundreds dead.

Anyone pointing it at me.... that’s the simplest of rules!
>are you a cop ?
>no!
>ok, if you’re not a cop and point your weapon at me I’m only gonna wait one second before I defend myself

This is why you must be educated with guns before you even pick one up, now if people are stupid and think they know what they are doing then they should be charged with negligence if an accident occurs

>I’m only gonna wait one second before I defend myself

>gun pointed at user
>user asks "Are you a cop?"
>"No"
>Gun stays pointed at user for 1 sec
>user moves for own weapon
>Trigger on pointed gun squeezed
>user's hand never makes it to waistband for CC

Dosnt know you can move your feet and hands at the same time.

>Dosnt know you can move your feet and hands at the same time.
>Doesn't know a pointed gun can follow faster than you can move from a standing start.
The Flash is fictional, you know

Dosnt know im a firearms instructor and have had 2 student involved in fatal alterations where they lived by moving there feet faster than the gunman could track. One of whom was an officer of the law.

why hasn't anyone used all of those american rifleman arm citizen blurbs to filibuster the shit out of proposed gun control?

Don't need to filibuster what can't pass. Democrats don't have the numbers.

cool story bro. how many confirmed kills do u have? 300+?

Bullshit. Maximum acceleration for anyone, including a sprinter is g = 9.81 m/s^2

Human reaction time = 0.1 sec. (time to pull the trigger)
Maximum distance a human can move from a standing start can be calculated from
s = ut + 0.5at^2
s = distance
a = acceleration
t = time
u = initial speed = 0 (standing still)

So distance is 0.5*9.81*0.1*0.1 = 0.049 meters, or about 2 inches.

he wouldn't even have to move, just squeeze. Physics
wired.com/2012/08/maximum-acceleration-in-the-100-m-dash/

Confirmed kills are for pilots tough guy.

(cont)
I didn't add lock time, but even if that was another 0.1 sec, (which would be a flintlock pistol), you'd only have moved about 8"

Tell that to all the people in the articles posted who confronted a man with a gun and lived. Also shot dose not mean dead. We teach "fight until the lights go out".

so u have 0.

I was answering this macho fuckwit
If you have a guy holding on you, who is prepared to kill you and is just waiting for you to move before he blows you away, then move and you're dead. Physics.

If any of the above does not apply then maybe you're not dead. And lucky. But the escape is not because you moved your feet faster than the gunman can track and shoot you; there was another factor acting in your favour.

As a civilian, yes and im thankful for that.
I served my country and did my part thats all you need to know.

Because for every one of these fluffed up scenarios there are hundreds of dead wives, kids, church goers, movie theater patrons, school children, and on and on and on. Defensive use of a firearm is statistically as microscopically small as OP's penis.

Gun-fags are the lowest form of sub-human.

They are almost never "prepared to kill" or you would be dead already. But asking if he a cop is a poor idea i agree.

>Also shot dose not mean dead.
>Move feet
>First bullet hits centre mass, 2" off centre
>Second bullet probably 10" higher and 8" to one side, because recoil (I'm assuming your assailant isn't Jerry Miculek)
You now have two bullets in the torso, one in the solar plexus and one in a lung

holy fuck. my sides.
>dat silhouette of "fuck this shit" @ :12
>fucking glocks a moose
>buzzes off on snow mobile

Uhmm....Hitler.

Then i guess im dead, but atleast i didn't suck his dick first then get shot in a ditch like you.

holy fuck! it's still twitching when he cruises by too. lol. it's good to be atop the food chain

fuck you
Hello "Sup Forums", my son is currently grounded for calling our neighbors the nword during a dinner party then proceeding to scream "tits or get the fuck out" to my coworkers wife. I confiscated his phone upon returning home and started looking at his bookmarks and internet history. I found this disgusting place and after 3 seconds of being on here I can tell you that this is where my son learned these nasty influences. What is this place you fucking loosers? Have you nothing to do but ruin a young kids life? I bet most of you aren't real and are those bot chat things. There's no way real sane people act like this. This photo was also on his phone along with a slew of porn. Whoever is doing this to my son understand that I will find you and teach you a lesson mano El mano.

Just don't make bullshit claims like
>they lived by moving there feet faster than the gunman could track
And I won't tear you a spare one

Moving kept them alive, and you havent torn anything senc you fell out of your mama

the role ar15s play in US gun deaths is statistically negligible too, but you faggots don't seem to mind.
you're claiming to care about dead innocents, but you're insisting that they shouldn't have the same defensive capabilities as the average gun-toting criminal?
hah. yeah. you're someone to listen to.

I've been gone for a while.
Is this copypasta or shit b8 or just some autistic faggot raging and blaming Sup Forums for his own shitty parenting?
Actually want to know. Thanks.

got sources or are you just talking out of your ass?
do you really believe that writing a law guarantees compliance?
you do?
awww.
how cute.
now fuck off, sunshine.
the grownups are talking.
