You have thirty seconds to name one legitimately 8/10 horror movie from the last decade

You have thirty seconds to name one legitimately 8/10 horror movie from the last decade

I don't mean '8/10 for horror', I mean an 8/10 movie

Beyond the Black Rainbow

>last decade
fuck you for thinking something like would even exist.

The Wailing

Trick r Treat

horrific waste of time

Mediocre

Mediocre

This was alright but I wouldn't be confident holding it up as a solid 8, BARELY scraping into the decade too

Haven't seen

It Follows
The Witch

\/\/itch

>Trick 'r Treat
>alright
It's at least a 9/10, pleb

>It Follows
I suppose

>The Witch
Haven't seen, quite possibly

It's a 9/10 horror movie for sure, I'm just trying to compare them to other movies as a whole

Hard to say because the only 10/10 movie in the history of the horror genre is The Exorcist

The VVitch
The Wailing
The Lords Of Salem

...

>was gonna say Jacob's Ladder
>realize it's 26 years old

...

Ooh, forgot. I don't think it's as brilliant as The Exorcist but that's merely a preference for the source novel. Wish Kubrick accepted the offer to direct The Exorcist.

everyone saying witch and babadook have awful taste

there hasn't been any scary movies since exorcist and that is the ONLY good horror movie

everything else is shit
ouija is shit
babadook is shit
witch is shit

countless others are shit
horror is a shit genre

>2006 was a decade ago
>2007 was nearly a decade ago
>halo 3 came out in 2007
>halo (1) came out 15 years ago
>playstation 2 came out 16 years ago
>ape escape (ps1) came out 17 years ago
>smash bros came out the same year
>mario, the star character of the series was unveiled 18 years before that
>all this was 35 years ago
>i remember all of it

Inland Empire

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil

SORRY user THAT WAS OVER A DECADE AGO, BY TWO MONTHS

TRY AGAIN

The Orphanage

The Wailing
Train to Busan
I Saw the Devil

>tfw gooks are saving horror

i rly liked [rec] but i probably have shit taste

just kidding

i know i have shit taste

>train to busan

oh please

And 'I saw the devil' is very-borderline a horror movie

Fucking hell, 2006 was a decade ago.

Father's Day

>there hasn't been any scary movies since exorcist
Maybe you just grew up. Horror is mostly a genre for young people who just want to switch their brains off, that's why the plots are so lazy.

The vvitch

Unless by horror you mean 'lel jumpscares, omgz gorefest or what!'

>that's why the plots are so lazy.

Oh yeah? Well what about boo

The Shining is excellent you pleb.

Horror movies aren't solely about being scary though, I watch them more for a sense of uneasiness and dread.
And while The Exorcist is a great movie it wasn't "scary" either.
Horror just isn't for you, no need to shitpost and be bitter about stuff for no reason.

Also.

Trick 'r Treat

I forgot about that one
it has a handful of good to decent movies
the thing is also good
but I'm not sure if thats horror

>uneasiness and dread
nothing uneasy or dreadful about young girls or teenagers being "possessed" and doing jump scenes that are predictable

maybe I just got exposed to much better horror early on
video games do horror on a much better level

6/10

6/10

7/10

>It Follows
7.5/10

>Witch

5/10

Pretty much the most objective ratings

Not sure if counts as horror but both Let The right one in/Let me in were pretty good movies.

It Follows was great

Creep is a good meme movie

Hush (2016) was a pretty damn solid one

I GOT ONE

vhs 2

probably the best horror movie in the past decade

Under the Shadow
Stoker
Maniac
[REC]
The Orphanage

suspiria

>Under the Shadow

Is this legit or just a meme? It's playing in SF should I go see it?

>all these people liking It Follows

I don't understand how people thought this was good. It was some pretentious bullshit about the dangers of premarital sex. There wasn't anything scary about it. Just some old fart following around some kids because they played with their tallywackers.

thats a passable horror movie? It's a kids bedtime story at best

I liked it because feminist hated it.

It's not about dangers of premarital sex but about growing up, dying and the decline of white American middle-class.

>dying and the decline of white American middle-class.

lol no

so you're trying to make it seem like even more pretentious garbage?

>When there is torture, there is pain and wounds, physical agony, and all this distracts the mind from mental suffering, so that one is tormented by the wounds until the moment of death. And the most terrible agony may not be in the wounds themselves but in knowing for certain that within an hour, then within 10 minutes, then within half a minute, now at this very instant—your soul will leave your body and you will no longer be a person, and that this is certain. The worst thing is that it is certain.
Literally from the film.

you disgusting cunt redditor

Under the Skin is 10/10.

Låt den rätte komma in

>inconsistencies in plot or universe building make it a good movie
>having glaringly obvious continuity problems makes you spooked!

No it just makes it a bad film

...

STOP! YOU ARE TRIGGERING NU NU Sup Forums!

Damn you beat me to it

dick and sale vs evil, jeepers creepers 2

Under the Skin
Let the Right One In
Antichrist

Most correct answer in this thread. Has a perfect build-up, an amazing exorcism scene and the ending had me literally at the edge of my seat.

It is not higher than 8/10 though. The zombie scene didn't fit at all and could be taken out, plus the plot was way too ambiguous and almost impossible to understand if you don't know about korean folklore. There should have been more clues as to what was happening.

Jagten

House of the Devil

>Saw the Exocist a few days ago.
>Now realize what everyone mean when they say the horror genre is almost 100% complete garbage.

I never thought I'd be one of them, but I guess my dad is almost always right in the end.

How incredibly vapid almost everything else seems by comparison. I didn't even find it very scary, but the great thing is that even if you don't, what's left is still a very clever and disturbing movie.

Suspiria is great you asshole

>Antichrist
Damn I forgot about that movie

I wouldn't really call Antichrist a horror movie.
great movie though
