Alright Sup Forumsros, I'm sick of America and I'd like to move to Iceland. I have no idea how to do this.
>here's some green text
I speak English, obviously, and also German, having studied 3 years in high school and CLEPed into German 3 in college for a year, but never finished a degree. I've also got a working knowledge of Swedish and, for what it's worth, Anglo-Saxon just from personal studies. So with this, even though I don't yet speak Icelandic, I feel I could pick the language up pretty quickly ad easily. Already from the few web pages I've looked over after searching for articles on making the move and employment opportunities I could make out more than I had expected to be able to going in.
>here's some more green text >probably seemed more interesting when you thought it was going to be a story
The main issue I foresee standing in the way of my emigration is my lack of formal education and vicariously my employability. I have worked in an office environment for the past several years and have been gainfully employed for my entire adult life, and am entirely self-sufficient. I have typical clerical skills; I type well, I'm good on the phone/conference calls, or in person. I'm organized, dress professionally, and am generally clean-cut. However, everything I've seen so far has either been for temporary employees coming over with an outsourced company, or individuals with specialised educations to work in certain fields. Neither condition do I meet.
>this bit is going to have >to have several lines >to make it look like I had something real to say at this point >but >they're >just >filler >lines >to catch your eye while you're scrolling cuz c'mon guiz plz just read this I spent so much time typing and I went home from work early today because I'm legit starting to hate my job >like the Michael Douglas 'Falling Down' kind of hate my job
tl;dr - 26/w/m, hate where I am and what I do. I hope I'm as smart as I think I am, and I don't know how to move to Iceland.
Jack Sanchez
tl;dr: I want to move to Iceland but I'm too lazy to look at Iceland's immigration website
Caleb Torres
I did that's the second paragraph where I talk about temporary employees with outsources companies and specialised professionals. I am neither and would ideas on how to circumvent that problem.
Carter Long
>never finished a degree
yeah good luck buddy not gonna happen
Jordan Cooper
I realize that's an obvious drawback. That's why I put it in the narrative. I've thought about going back, but the secondary education system in the US appalls me. My fiancé went through almost 5 years to be a middle school teacher and she barely makes more than I do now. Her first job was essentially a tard wrangler. Diapers and screaming and bullshit. Nothing she needed environmental science or forensic biology for. She's got so much debt and not a lot extra to show for it. I love her but from what I feel is an objective point of view, she looks like she got duped by the system. I suppose I could go through the motions to get credentialed on paper, but in the interest of being constructive, for the now I'd just like to find out if and how there might be another way.
Jace Butler
iceland is fucking overrated it's a nasty country
Easton Smith
there is no mcdonnalds on iceland.
Mason Evans
Deutschland über Alles! Mein Bruder
James Hernandez
Can you relate some experiences?
Justin Campbell
nobody wants you there amerigarbage
Matthew Nelson
I don't eat it so I won't miss it, if that's what you mean.
Isaiah Diaz
I'm prepared for sentiments of that nature.
Angel Cook
>I've also got a working knowledge of Swedish and, for what it's worth, Anglo-Saxon just from personal studies WTF does this even mean. >I feel I could pick the language up pretty quickly ad easily. no.
Parker Ross
Maybe once. I'm not so sure given the current state of things under Merkel.
Jason Williams
Fuck makes you think you're welcome in Iceland? Also lol learning old norse/Icelandic "easily" fucking swedes, norwegians and danes struggle to learn it.
Nicholas Reyes
I've bought and studied my own textbooks for swedish and Anglo-Saxon i.e. Old English. As northern and western germanic languages I'm already familiar with the grammar, pronunciation, and special characters. I don't speak either like I do English or German, but it definitely helps me at least partially comprehend what I've already tried to read.
Josiah Ross
Hi, Icelander here.
No chance of you coming here if you are not a refugee and even so we've already taken more than enough of those. No education = Not welcome. You literally don't have a single skill and if you don't speak Icelandic you can expect nothing more than burger flipping or sandwich artistry.
Aaron Stewart
Why don't you simply move to Canada or Mexico?
Ayden Baker
look buddy your opinion of american universities doesn't matter.
if you don't have a college degree, why would any foreign company want to have you working for them when they can just find one of their own citizens w/o a degree who will work for 1/10th of the price?
there isn't another way to move there unless you marry an icelandic girl or go back to school and get a degree in a specialized field
Parker Perez
see
Ian Ross
>hurr i can learn icelandic because i know english, can read german and have heard of swedish kek
Angel Taylor
Canada has the same social problems that I'm trying to get away from in the US and I would get kidnapped and ransomed in Mexico. I've been a couple times on vacation and I even speak spanish too, but it's not somewhere I'd feel safe on the day to day.
Nathaniel Gutierrez
We most definitely do not want or need you here. Literally nothing worse than americuck immigrants who never learned to use their inside voice
Carson Jackson
I see, what a great time to live.:))
Samuel Williams
Sure cousin fucker. When you going to pay back that money Icebank stole from account holders?
Brandon Nguyen
Why would a foreign company pay a local 1/10th that of an american?
Camden Rodriguez
We voted to keep it.
Matthew Green
So what would you suggest? I understand the necessity to be a contributing member of society. I feel I do that here. I want to do it there. I don't want any government subsidies or welfare. I plan to work and earn income and spend that income in the Icelandic economy. My family here doesn't need money, so I won't be sending it home. I want to add not detract.
Funny enough, marry an Icelandic girl is the first bit of advice that actually falls remotely close to what i was looking for with the post.
Daniel Baker
You can also marry a guy. I'll be that guy if you promise to support my NEET lifestyle
Carter Sanders
>NEET Lifestyle That's not a lifestyle, it's simply pathetic
Leo Ross
Offer is on the table. If you don't wanna be a statistic any given days mass shooting you hit me up
Jacob Hughes
Lol, OP here that wasn't me. I do have a concealed carry permit, though, so I'm not super worried about that.
Also thank you, no.
Jason Cook
Isaiah Lopez
It wasn't ment to address OP by this: But the guy who offered you to marry him
Christopher Fisher
America its acontinent not a country stupid niger slave.
Mason Carter
>horbjóður Chuckled
Wyatt Sanchez
MuriKKKans are just stupid. Iceland won't take him.
Joshua Moore
No, he can't because he has never lived there.
Matthew Hall
When did I make that reference?
John Brown
Directly in your first sentence >Alright Sup Forumsros, I'm sick of America
Camden Gomez
Did a coding bootcamp, learnt to code in mother fucking 12 weeks, moved to Sweden, got 3 job offers paying almost twice what I was earning.
Now work from home drinking coffee all day in a nice flat in Stockholm with hot Swedish girlfriend.
Dreams can come true if you literally put your lazy ass on hold for a few weeks.
Jacob Russell
Man, I'm white, as stated in the original post. Dark blonde and blue eyes. As for just living there for nothing, see... also check em cuz that was my post
Connor Hernandez
And that is me stating it is a country?
Lincoln Gonzalez
ah, nvm I see your point.
Jaxon Green
i don't know how it is in iceland but i'm sure it costs more to import foreign workers than to hire local ones. i know in specialized fields that some companies will pay for moving, housing, etc when hiring foreign workers.
i suggest saving the money, time and effort and just move to the opposite side of the country or something. save some money up and go back to school if you are really adamant about emigrating.
Adrian Clark
you habe no degree you fucking burgerflipper, from what you wrote you habe no Value to Island or any other Nation for that matter
Connor Parker
thank you. first bit of real advice i can do something with. can you point me in the direction of a resource? where do i start with that?
Caleb Rivera
And now in english pls
Jordan Richardson
You have no degree, you have little to nothing that makes you interesting for an employer, your nice picture does make me think that you have extremist views, and people with extremist views usually practise or at least endorse violence.
How are you different from any Sharia-hungry islamist? You might be better educated, but you'd still pollute society. Maybe in a different way, yes. You want to get out of your country because you don't like it there, same as a lot of refugees from Arab countries or Eastern Europe. You bitch about Germany's border policies, yet youself are hoping to take advantage of lash immigration laws. I hope you see the irony.
Evan Gray
Start here.
coursereport dot com
Try and find something full stack javascript if you want an easy time finding work. Fuck the ones that are full stack ruby.
Bentley Wilson
Or move to Slovenia. Free university even for Yanks, taught in English too.
Charles King
You raise valid points and the juxtaposition is not lost on me. I don't, in fact, endorse violence, have never actually been in a fight in real life. I believe it's necessary sometimes as a last resort, unique to every circumstance individually. I don't consider myself extremist, but that's what you'd expect me to say. I do hold with a fair few right wing ideologies but I like to think my opinions are grounded. My fiancé is asian, and one of my long-time best friends and roommates was from el salvador. My intention isnt to flaunt my multicultural lifestyle with that information I only feel it might add to your understanding. I'm open to other cultures. I do believe the concept of blut und boden holds truth, though.
Jayden Allen
You the real MVP
OP here, gotta go get a haircut, I'll leave the window open and check in when i get back.
Ryder Phillips
Roll up your sleeves boys, it's time to post some gay pr0n.
Jason Reed
Lol OP again Found the thread on my phone in the car.
I guess every thread devolves into something similar eventually. I suppose it could just have easily been Spider-Man or bananas.
Jaxon Murphy
don't go...iceland is expensive as fuck
Daniel Turner
I’ve considered this. I’ve been to the Bahamas a couple times and have seen what an island economy is like, if only for short periods of time.
Adam Morris
Not sure if this has been covered already, but Icelandic is fucking hard. It’s one of the most ancient languages still spoken today. You are not going to be able to pick it up easily with a working knowledge of Swedish. I have a pretty solid understanding of Danish and Icelandic is almost incomprehensible.
But like 95% of the population of Iceland speaks English fluently, so it’s kind of a moot point.
Tyler Taylor
Also just glancing at the original picture you posted there, if you’re anything close to fascist, that’s generally not going to go over well in that country.
Jack Green
It’s been touched upon but yeah I understand how difficult it’s supposed to be. As long as it’s not tonal I should be able to pick it up fundamentally in a year or so. Tonal languages fuck me up. I’ve started to learn vietnamese passively to speak with my fiancé’s family and I know I just sound retarded when I try.
Ian Gray
Something close in principle. Pragmatically, though, it’s probably a lot less threatening and controversial than you believe it to be.
Nathan Adams
They also know Danish, so you can pick that up instead
