looks like your nail is growing into your skin causing some swelling and irritation. also the yellowing of your nails is due to some fungal issues.

Ingrown with a fungal infection. Doctor or pull it out yourself.

cancer. you've been on Sup Forums too long

yucky

A lot

This and stream it

just get it removed. past point of saving

Ingrown

ingrown toenail. I had one just like that when i was younger. Soak in anti bacterial, and place something under the nail to pull it back away from your skin so that its not digging in and cutting your skin open any further.

Ingrown toenail. Stuff a tiny wad of cotton undeneath it everyday for a month,

called Paronychia

get well, kiss your kids goodbye for me

Physician here. It's toe herpes. It can only be caused in homosexual intercourse, though.

Just throw away the whole foot

idk how people let it get this bad. I always cut mine out once it hurts a little and it always fixes it

Checked. Also, what do I do if it's so fucking swollen and painful I can't wedge anything under it?

You're a cuck fag

You see a fucking doctor.

this; the nail has grown in, rubbed up against your flesh causing a cut then because your feet are gross the cut got infected. The same thing happened to me the doctor prescribed some antibiotics to stop the infection then cut a sliver of the nail that was ingrown. They also shot some silver nitrate or something into the nail bed to stop it growing back but some weird thin nail now grows along side the nail vertically so idk.

how have ingrown toenails been selected for all this time? why didn't natural selection make it go away?

Broke, or I would have.

I've had this thing to varying degrees for well over a year.

After you treat your ingrown, fix the fungus too... it'll sometimes weaken the nail and make it more prone to doing this. Make sure you're eating right too so your nails are strong.

This is either masterful trolling, or you need to learn about how natural selection works.

What do you mean "broke"? Do you have to pay to see a doctor? What about a public hospital? Or, don't you have a private healthcare plan? What kind of shitty place do you live in?

my same nail became ingrown 3 times. The third time the doc cut it out he killed a small portion of the root so that a tiny sliver of my nail doesnt grow. You cant notice it and no more ingrown nail. Regardless, go to a foot doctor and get it cut out, the actual cutting of the nail wont hurt a bit. The needles they stick all the into ur toe to numb it however..will fucking suck. Just be thankful you probably wont have to do it more than once

I'm an amerifag dude. Yes, I have to pay. Urgent care won't deal with this, which means a podiatrist, which means I'm looking at about $300-400 out of pocket.

more or less painful than stubbing the toe in this condition?

Never had an ingrown nail, how do I prevent this from happening?

Ohhhh boy here we go

OP here - I got this because I trimmed down the nail too close to the edge. If you're digging the clipper into the corner, don't. Straighten it out and leave it alone.

Pain's not worth it.

Super simple as someone else stated... soak nightly in warm water and a little Hydrogen peroxide... try to put a little cotton underneat to relieve the pressure. It will go away easily within a month for like.... $3 in supplies and $1,000 in patience and $1,000,000 in not picking at it and following the treatment plan...

Persistent wounds for scab pickers are impossible... I had one of these for ages because I love picking scabs. Don’t be me.

>politicizes ingrown toenail thread
What a faggot

it happens or it doesn't. Just wear the right sized shoes and cut your nails regularly and cleanly

the needles suck massive dick bro. It diesnt really hurt going in, its just how fucking far they push that fucker in. Almost to the bone and it burns like hell. Once done however you will be so relieved to get that thing cut out. And like I said the actual cutting wont be felt a bit

Thanks

I think it might be too late for that. The fucking nail is growing in a U shape. See that "plate" on the bottom of OPs big toe? His nail has grown down, causing the pain, turned upwards, and then over the outside. I'd bet anything that area is hard.

There's a fucking faggot attached to it.

2 things: Most importantly, cut your nails straight across, DO NOT curve down at the edges.
The last thing is to just avoid wearing tight socks and shoes

Nothin. Looks fine to me. I wouldn't bother looking into it

absolutely nothing can hurt worse than stubbing this fucker.. but thanks. Really at this point i'm judging between being out 400 bucks out of pocket and having the pain gone, or saving my money and just dealing with it.

This fucking nail has been fucked up for well over a year now, it's not gonna kill me. It just hurts.

I, huh. I didn't know that hospitals in the US were like that. Sorry about that, man, but that's messed up. Would it really cost $300? It's just a nail that needs to be cut, for fuck's sake.

I once had this. I simply cut away the nail and scrape off the inflammated tissue, then desinfect and bandage. I repeated that every couple of days until it finally was just a normal, non-infected wound. Healed off without a scar and never came back. I'm paying attention to how I cut my toenails, though, and sometimes have to force the nail not to grow in.

Also, this procedure is painful and not for the weak minded. I would recommend getting a scalpel, but that'll risk cutting away too much and you're left with a chunk missing. I used a reasonably sharp pocket knife.

listen bro, I know that sucks, but you need a doctor at this point. Bathroom surgery with tweezers and a nail clipper will make it many times worse and more infected. Yes it will cost a good chunk of money, yes the numbing needles are going to suck, but the sheer relief afterwards will have you wishing you did it sooner

Abscess due to ingrown nail.

The white spot left side of your nail is a pocket of puss, the abscess.

It is caused by damage to your cutaneous tissues due to ingrown nail.

OP, get a needle or a sharp nail clipper, burn the tip till it is red hot. Let it cool and cut open the white spot, the abscess. Drain it.

While you are doing that, pry out the ingrown nail as well.

After you drain the abscess, disinfect the area, and wrap it in dressing, change every 4 to 8 hours depending on drainage.

It should go away in a few days after the procedure.

cont,

dont worry about the pain, the abscess is literally a pocket of puss and yhou should've feel anything while cutting it open. Make sure to drain it well, by pressing hard on the abscess from the bottom to the top, like getting the last bit of tooth paste out of the tube.

You have HIV, faggot.

You know what hollywood accounting is? Medical billing in burgerland is really similar to that. Every little fucking thing is charged.

So it's a medical procedure, so there's gonna be a nurse that takes your vitals. Yes, even for something this small. $.

Then you see a licensed doctor who charges for their time. $.

Diagnosis under the ICD, probably S91.102A - Unspecified open wound of left great toe without damage to nail, initial encounter. $.

The actual procedure involving needles and cutting tools ($) and any anaesthetic used ($)

Scrip for antibiotics $

It will hurt about the same, Im just cringing thinking of stubbing my toe, putting on pants / socks / shoes with how bad my toe was, and it was a little better than yours. Please do what I said in this other post, you will be so happy afterwards

Use a tourniquet on it until it goes numb then pull the nail out of the skin it has dug into

Now seriously considering taking out a payday loan to get this fucker removed.

I wonder if they'd let me film the procedure. I'd post it.

>be American
>survive shootings
>stub toe
>neglect ingrown nail from stub toe
>infected
>to poor to afford doctor
>die

I do speak english, but I lack a lot of knowledge about american culture (brazilian here). What you just said is fucking scary. I hope it changes.
Didn't want to cause a political discussion here, but yeah, see a doctor, whatever the cost. This thing could get really ugly really fast. If the infection spreads and the tissue dies, you'll be through necrosis, and necrosis is a very morbid word.
Go see a doctor.

Do it man, please. Litterally some of the worst months of my life with that shit, and immediately better afterwards. And you will probably be able to film it, you wont be in pain, as long as you dont care about how nasty it will look.

This is genuinely the case.

>don't worry about the pain

Bitch, do I look like the Buddha to you?

ingrown toenails fucking suck op, get that shit taken out as soon as possible

You grow a sack, stab it with a pocket knife, pry it off.

Schedule an appointment, and ask about a payment plant overtime! You need to see a doctor, that looks like it could be a staphylococcus infection!!!!! AHHHHHH. Buck up, or lose the foot.>

If you have a job, you pretty much have health insurance

Jonathan thats gross

My toe nails aren't that deep in the toe, but they seem to curve down. I think it might be the reason one of them hasn't fallen off despite being half dead. Should I start putting cotton under the sides now to avoid a bad future?

It's also shit-tier insurance. It doesn't pay a goddamn thing before I've paid a $1500 deductible. I'm out of pocket either way.

Yes. Fuck yes, God yes. You don't want to deal with this shit. Tear up a cotton ball and use something like a tiny flat screwdriver to push it under there. You don't need a lot, just before the point where it gets uncomfortable.

Put it this way, I stub this toe and I want to literally cut my foot off to get the pain to stop. Anything you can do to avoid this, do it.

No shit, lmao if you aren't spending more than that, then you should probably just get emergency care you fucking retard. Game is broken but you still have to know how to play it.

You really might want to cut it off. It's going to get to the point where it becomes gangrenous and infects your bloodstream, isn't it?

jesus christ user your toe only serves to prove that god ain't real

kek

Yeah, it's retarded but I spent like 5years with some shit like that, until I finally decided to take the nail off.

My toe never got back on its normal shape again. But it's no big deal.

Emergency room shit takes the already insane costs and tacks an extra zero on the end.

It's been in this state for at least two years now. I'm not that worried about it.

Get it checked or this can happen to you.

it shouldnt hurt. drying the toenail will but draining the abcess should be instant relief of pain

See a podiatrist. You will need antibiotics and several visits. Otherwise it will cost much more if you have to have your toe removed.

>toe remove
>cost
You can do that at home.

Out of pocket or no foot. Still out of pocket for surgery to remove foot.

You can also remove you foot at home, but I would not recommend it.

Well what other choice is there for user? With the right tools, he should be able to amputate in one clean cut and then cauterize and be done with that shitty toe.

You need to get this fixed. If you let it go the infection could go to the bone. I have seen toes amputated before.

If you want to try to do it yourself you can pull the nail out and cut it off. You can try the cotton thing but make sure you regularly change the cotton. If not it will just hold germs. Its going to hurt like fuck. medication or the tourniquet idea can help with the pain but otherwise youre just going to have to man up.
If you go to doc he will numb it first. Depends on whether you can handle the pain and whether you think the pain is worth the money or not.

Dont do this, I have treated people in the hospital that tried this. H2o2 is fine for cleaning something and sterilizing but it will also kill viable tissue and your body's immune cells. That's why we don't use it in the hospital.

I get that little extra nail piece too, but never had ingrown toenail problems.

MUTHERFUCKER ITS SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST EUROTRASH!!!

Okay heres some advice OP, my dad had the same issue.

>cut a small 'v' in the middle of your toe-nail as shown in picture
>clean toe often, best way is by soaking it in a foot bath with salt, bleach or detol in it to dis-infect it.
>get anti-biotics
> you can also buy a device to treat the nail by pulling the ingown parts out of the skin, link below
youtube.com/watch?v=MriLcl0TP_Q

When trimming your toes don't put curved edges on them, cut them completely straight and them file them down a tiny bit if they're catching on your socks. Wear loose socks and footware.

Goodluck OP

What should I do about this? I thought it would just fall off, but it's been about 9 months and it hasn't moved beyond what I tore off myself out of boredom. Is the new nail unable to grow until I remove it by force?

>actual, useful advice from Sup Forums
Thanks, didn’t know about this
I’d just cut the nail away every month or so

That nail looks like it has a fungus or a skin condition like psoriasis. Maybe an anti-fungal medication might work.

The nail is obviously dead, I'm thinking I'll just remove it in the shower.

at least clean the wound, put some fresh water that you boilled for 30 mins in a bowl with a few table spoons of bleach. Let the water cool down before proceeding. Rest your infected toe in the water mixed with bleach to disinfect it and than go see a doctor. I've had too do it myself before, inserted the lower half of small scissors under my nail than cut it to remove the ingrown nail, painful, and doing it yourself makes it harder.

rekt

not this shitty thread again

OP, I sometimes get ingrown nails similar to this because I am on my feet all day at work and I'm a fatty. Nothing is better than the feeling of getting the nail above the skin (basically prying it up) after the pressure is released by this much of the skin on the side will start to die and grow back to normal. Trust me OP, as long as you are sterile about it, prying it up feels great once it is done... Don't know what to do about your infection tho since I never get that part

I am a nurse not a fucking podiatrist.

But, first you need to shave your toes you fucking hobbit.
Otherwise If the nail isnt growing it could be that the nailbed is diseased. The peeling layers/yellow usually means a fungal infection. If it ever gets red/swollen/painful/pus like OP then its bacterial and that will spread eventually and needs to be taken care of. Yours doesnt look like that. After it gets under/in the nail it can be really hard to get rid of though.

Also just as a public service announcement for anyone reading if youre having a lot of problems with toes/feet with shit like this and youre overweight or inactive you should get your hgb a1c checked, you might be going diabetic. Poor circulation and neuropathy from high sugar causes your feet to get infected easily.

The layers aren't peeling, that line is from be cutting it with a knife. It's pretty strong for a dead toe nail, but it doesn't grow.

ingrown toenail, ive had 3 of these. Go to a doctor and get it cauterized

I got charged $700

>300 dollars

LOL WTF

Argentinean here, I think it's less expensive to travel here and go checked in a public hospital than see your shit in your shitty country

Well, first and foremost, it's white.

Why is it all the sudacas flee to US and not Argentina?

I'm not a doctor but it looks like its attached to a flaming faggot.

Got myself removed nails on both toes 2 times didnt help. Its better to see a specialist, Look for a Medicinal Pedicure in my country i paid about 60€ for multiple sitings and its a lot better then having it removed completely which hurts like hell and there is possibility it would come back

lol free in Europe i paid only 1€ for the paperwork

first symptom of geyism

That sucks. OK, uh, you can try to take care of this yourself.

You need to stop the infection and soften the nail, so the skin around the toe can heal.

Hot water foot baths, at least twice a day, ideally 4 or 5 for 15 mins. Even one a day is better than nothing. Consider some Epsom salts.

After your bath dry your feet well, use a hair-dyer if possible. Then, take a cotton ball with neosporin on, and try to push the skin away from the nail with a bit of cotton and neosporin. Get that neosporin in there good, and then keep the cotton ball on with a (fairly loose) band-aid. Replace the neosporin after the foot baths.

You should see improvements within 3 weeks. If not, you'll probably need to see a doctor. But that toe is really fucking bad, dude. If you can't afford a doctor, you can't afford to let things go on that long.

When did you cut it? Recently or 9 months ago?

All nails are "dead" (avascular, which is why fungus can grow in them), and shouldnt weaken. The peeling during a fungal infection is from teh fungus working between the layers of dead keratin.

Anyway the advice is pretty much the same. You can let it go as long as its not bothering you if you cant afford it or dont care. The nail may be paused due to trauma/infection. It could spontaneously start. If there is a fungal infection (or even a bacterial one trying to form) and tht gets cleared up then it may start after that. Or it might be permanently damaged and just not grow anymore. If it ever becomes symptomatic you will definitely want to get it checked out, or if you are worried about the aesthetics and want it to grow back normally then go get it looked at.
