But I have to agree with South Park about its message. I think Mel's heart was in the right place, but trying to gather the faith of mankind by showing a guy getting tortured is a tad weird. In post 9/11 world I think people needed to be remember of the good things, not the brutal side. On the other end, maybe seeing Christ getting rekt was cathartic.

It was the aftermath, the next challenge. Christianity is about being forgiven for your sins AND receiving eternal life.
