Kinoko Teikoku - Uzu Ni Naru

In my humble opinion one of the best Japanese Shoegaze mini albums I have ever heard.
Still brings tears to my eyes sometimes.

What's some gaze/dream pop I should listen to over shitty speakers at medium volume

Ether Feels - Red Dress Girl EP

Huge underrated Japanese shoegaze EP. Strikes good balance between melody and noise.
>Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

do ride have the best rhythm section in all of shugazi?

just listen to the bass and drums in this

youtube.com/watch?v=xcyfPXF770U

Just edges out Lush's, but it's a close one.

Any shoegaze recs for a Talk Talk fan? Laughing Stock's the only non-Eno album I've heard where the textures are as detailed and otherworldly sounding as Loveless.

2nd track in and my dick already fell off

Try Slowdive's Pygmalion. Some of the tracks (Rutti, Blue Skied An Clear) sound like a love letter to SoE/LS.
Then listen to Cocteau Twins - Victorialand and Windy & Carl - Drawing of Sound for similar sound but less Talk Talk

I've heard all those except Windy & Carl. I wish Pygmalion did textures as good as Laughing Stock does, but it falls short.
Doesn't conjure up visuals in my head the way Loveless and Laughing Stock do.

Well your mileage may vary I suppose but Drawing of Sound is probably the most beautiful sounding album I know

pic related and swirlies have the best

Two great findings today

JAPANESE BREAKFAST A SHIT

beach house

If we make another shoegaze will you guys buy it

So MBV and Slowdive are apparently going to release new albums, what you cunts think of them?

infinitygirl.bandcamp.com/album/somewhere-nice-someday

Probably my AOTY when it comes to straight shoegaze (as in not dream pop).

Anything else like this, besides Loveless?

Does this count
youtube.com/watch?v=ksjL9nkLhkY

I just hope they tour before they get too old.

youtube.com/watch?v=QNXUQ1mOrV4

Kevin Shields confirmed they plan to tour with the next album

youtube.com/watch?v=TIlfSvJmYvA&list=PLwB02Si0w5pzKujt5sI8fpuwA-EMdwgxX

youtube.com/watch?v=8JitbvK6hpA

Slowdive is my AOTY so another album will probably not disappoint. MBV is always MBV. As long as the new album has lot of ethereal melodies I will be happy.
It counts as boring Indie Folk, if that's what you mean?

I forsee new MBV being something like Bowery Electric s/t.. Very ambient and droney, some bleep influence. I secretly hope they have at least some upbeat pop tunes in there (and make it work with whatever sound they're going for), that's when I like them best.
I feel like Slowdive's last album was a bit of them playing it safe. Wasn't a fan of their sparser tracks (Sugar for the Pill, Falling Ashes, No Longer Making Time) but really liked their fast-yet-dense sounding ones (Everybody Knows, Don't Know Why). I actually prefer their faster tracks in previous albums too. Waves is a massively underrated song.

consider that the next Slowdive album may not be as gazey as many would expect
in fact,I think they are going to be experimental or follow the Pygmalion route

Really amazing album. I especially love this track: infinitygirl.bandcamp.com/track/the-color-of-wine

You're definitlely right about Waves. One of my favorites from Just for a Day, next to Celia's Dream and Brighter

Where did you hear that about a new Slowdive album?

Man, just listen to this silky guitar
youtube.com/watch?v=NnWQWHLlrpI

it was good until he started singing

Hmm, I don't have any problem with his singing

SULK are great
We need more madchester/shoegaze acts
youtube.com/watch?v=ANVfRDJtrVU

it's not bad, but it doesn't fit to the instrumentals

I think it's pretty inevitable honestly

On Avery Island is noise rock.

Thoughts?

Love this, but I love pic related even more. Is there a known reason for Uzu being a mini album? Its like 43 minutes long. Not complaining, just wondering.

pretty ok i guess, not memorable though. i wished they stuck with the other cover and went with more of a stratosphere feel

More like this?
m.youtube.com/watch?v=fLKhBRluHio

Maybe Starflyer 59 - Silver?
youtube.com/watch?v=FAYq74Kh5Rc

similar pounding guitars and wistful feeling
youtube.com/watch?v=-Hx72I0dTOI

I know this isn't related but I need help with the name of a song....what's the name of the song in the background of that teacher doing a cartwheel in oklahoma if anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated

at least post the link d00d

thank you /shugazi/ general for introducing me to this genre. it really fits my daily midnight commute.

yeah I really like shoegaze/dream pop for commuting
used to exclusively listen to Mazzy Star and Mojave 3 when I took the bus to campus in the morning

Are there more songs/albums that sound like the beginning of this one?
m.youtube.com/watch?v=f95GoEYkkOE

uh kinda
youtube.com/watch?v=CU8IleUx5mk
youtube.com/watch?v=7Tlk8cu8wxw (not really /shugazi/ but what the heck)

did they ever post a link for the finished version?

Here's something good
m.youtube.com/?reload=7&rdm=2vwc8t5es#/watch?v=v4rH2faXHjA

starflyer is underrated

shoegaze is a drug and I'm addicted to it

I agree.
I also always felt that the cover is a great depiction of what shoegaze is 'a whirlpool of sound'.
Although I must also say that I doubt it being a 'pure' shoegaze album.

It only contains 7 songs. And i think it's that long mainly because 退屈しのぎ is 8 minutes long.
This performance youtu.be/9cIogcSCl7o is one of my favourite live recordings ever. The intensity of her singing is almost unmatched. Some strong emotions associated with this.

I honestly don't know why I never got into eureka.

Recommend to check out this homebred EP of theirs. Sounds very raw and shows where they came from.

This record is pretty awesome. The guitar on You've Been Had is smooth like the finest velvet

Forgot the fucking link
youtube.com/watch?v=rOWGGDsydAY

Kevin said that he had a couple tracks that were more melody based like most of loveless rather than the longer atmospheric tracks on their latest album.
He also said that these tracks were good enough to be released someday and that he wanted to make an EP out of them. In the latest Pitchfork interview he said that the upcoming album was originally going to be an EP but ended up longer than 40 minutes and therefore a full album.
So it might be moving back to a more melodic direction which I would really enjoy.

This sounds really really great. I really hope this is true

give me the dreamiest shit you got, thinking like Dagger from Souvlaki but more droney, anyone got me?

here's the link for the shugazi discord if anyone's interested: discord.gg/mwamnCs

not spacegazey enough

Any bets as to long how it'll take them? I'm saying we'll have it by September

this is a 10/10 for me
have a download for this one?
didn't know this existed
