weebshit.

I dunno, getting a little tired seeing her "IM ACTING IN AN ACTION FILM" determined face and stride, might prefer a no-name actress in the role.

top looks like it takes place in china
pretty accurate besides the no visor

weebshit, will bomb in the box office, no one asked for this movie

One of the main draws in the original, at least for me, was the animation and backgrounds. Obviously the live-action remake isn't going to be as good, and I have zero expectations for the story/themes being as well told as they were in the original.

There's no point to this, except to make executives a few more bucks. There's literally nothing in the new movie that you wouldn't get better in the original.

shit no one wanted or needed
I bet batou was casted as a nigger

moar pic comparisons

Holy fuck anime does not translate well to real life

Im not that invested. Besides the animation of the original, I prefer the Manga, 2 and Stand Alone Complex.

is anyone here good enough to do webm comparison?

Weebshit...

stand alone complex's main season thread plots and the first film are both god-tier in comparison to the rest, but it's all good shit on it's own

It stinks and I don't like it/

Can anyone really picture short and stocky Scarlett Johansson kicking ass the way Matoko does?

>shit no one wanted
HAHAHAH

She's only 3 inches shorter than the Major, and the Major is a cyborg so her ass kicking isn't a result of any kind of physical fitness, just the specs of her chassis

Gantz looks fine

Iam really interested in how they will adapt the boat scene.
youtube.com/watch?v=w6FjcIq2Pw4
I already hear kanye west in the background.

You're not talking about the movie that just came out are you? Cuz that's CG.

And Gantz is awful in any medium

bad, shit. I dont like this

Dont make this i do not enjpoy this or condone the way it looks

I have low expectations for poo and it will be a bomb cause sjw are shit for brains and it dumb

made me think of this

Considering major is actually a man then maybe the sequel have meme reeves

First time I saw that scene as a kid I just silently wept.

she has derp eyes

You know what?

Im not even a weebo. I like the best anime, just like I enjoy the best Ghibli.

Aslong as they dont try to make "Akira" into a Hollywood monster, I dont care.

Scarjo proved she can act in "Under the skin".

Ill give her a shot, on DVD.

Does she ever do any work for a role besides reading her lines, She can't even be bothered to work out so they stuff her in a skin tight suit like they did in the Avengers

>Considering major is actually a man

That seems kind of improbably judging from specific events laid down in the comics but feel free to prove me wrong.

looks like an SNL sketch

>blue filter
what did hollywood mean by this?

The suit is not skin tight enough
Scarjo needs to lose more weight
Needs visor
Where are muh nipples
Background looks like youtube-tier greenscreen

God bless the creators for sticking with the original vision and not bowing to prude misandristic sjws & modern feminist and covering her up like the later anime adaptions tried to do.
True it has been altered just enough to work under the pg-13 constraint, but it still invokes the imagery of the original and shows plenty of Scar Jo's sexiness.

A fat. Chubby. Dwarf.

It's fucking shit.

So true. user

Fucking this.

Haven't seen the anime. Is it supposed to look like she's wearing a cheap 1 dollar bodysuit or is that like her "robot" body they just fucked up?

>what i expected
>slender, athletic, asian

>what I got
>short, fat, caucasian

People seem to get confused by the last few lines in the original movie, where she says this is a male body after batou replaced her cyborg shell with some thugs.

I cannot think of any reason why people thing she was a male.

Yeah, she's supposed to be naked.

>female protagonist
dropped.

Oh, wow. They didn't even try did they?

So long as Hollywood keep their kikey hands away from Psycho Pass I'm good

Emily Blunt would have been a superior choice.

God you're triggering my autism. She's not supposed to be naked, she's supposed to wearing a translucent body suit that allows her to stealth.

I need to rethink my life.

> Thoughts?
>png 1.95 MB

>Where are muh nipples
This is an American production

No she isn't

Why is she wearing a rubber suit?

She looks like some porn actress in a bodysuit

>One of the most iconic scenes from the Ghost in the Shell anime film sees its main character, Major Motoko Kusanagi, stripping off her clothes and dropping from the top of a massive skyscraper to assassinate a target, all while seemingly fully nude. After her assassination attempt is successful, it's revealed she's not actually naked, but rather wearing a thermoptic suit that allows her to become invisible, getting away without a trace.

>The thermoptic suit is a staple of the Ghost in the Shell franchise, but anime has an easier time getting away with having its lead character move around seemingly unclothed and invisible than a live action movie starring Scarlett Johansson does. The filmmakers of 2017's Ghost in the Shell adaptation knew from the start that they wanted to include the thermoptic suit in their movie, but it was just a matter of adapting it for the big screen in a way that stayed true to the source material while also working with MPAA regulations.

>The solution was to design a look that made it clear Major was wearing a suit while also giving off the effect of her being nude. Costume designers Kurt Swanson and Bart Mueller worked with Weta's Richard Taylor and his team to design a skin-toned suit modeled after Scarlett Johansson's body that wouldn't force her to run around naked in the film, but also would visually convey the idea of Major's thermoptic suit from the anime.

>"We’re not actually trying to pretend she’s naked," explained producer Avi Arad on a visit to Ghost in the Shell's New Zealand set. "The suit emulates some of the ideas of the panel lines. When you see it the movie you’re not meant to think that that she’s naked."

>While other movies might have turned the suit into a digital effect by putting Johansson's face on a digital character or digital doubles, Weta and the costume designers used prosthetics to keep things practical. Using Swanson and Mueller's design, Weta built a full-silicon suit for Johansson by taking digital scans of her body and creating a design for an outfit that would mirror her silhouette.

>The struggle was to find a material that would "try to create a skin that moves like human skin but isn’t is incredibly challenging," said Taylor. Weta needed to find something that wouldn't buckle and fold when you move around, so the team ended up deciding to use silicone. The body suit had to be manufactured off a core, which got around the problem of the fabric not lying flush on the human body, and then the limbs were built and poured separately.

>Overall, the process of creating the suit took about six to eight weeks to finish, and Taylor reflected that Johansson "appeared to be very comfortable in it and was very complimentary of it and performed in it beautifully." But even with the suit looking great, it still needed to make sense in the context of the live action movie.

>"In the original, it’s like one minute she’s wearing clothes and the next minute you turn around and you’re like, 'OK, there she is. Is it the thermoptic? Is she naked? What’s going on?' That one took a long time and a lot of concepting, and then they came up with some really ingenious ways to achieve it," said Mueller.

>Added Swanson, "It’s weird, those are the things that on paper really work or in an anime really work, but in reality… I don’t know. That became another conversation with Scarlett and Rupert too, because it’s a very sexualized image. It’s great, but when you’re really doing it, you’re kind of like, 'Why would she do that? Does she even have any sort of reference for that?' 'Why would she wear that?' was always a question."

Scarjo can be a shitty or good actress depending on the director
Good - see: Sofia Coppola
Shitty - see: Marvel
you said it well

The original movie focused on the actual idea of a ghost in the shell, a consciousness born from a computer that starts to sort of transcend the physical plane, making the lead indifferent to her own physical perfection

Now this is just what I got from the trailer, but they used the gay ass line "what are you?" as if it was supposed to be some mindblowing shit, when in the film cyborgs are the most commonplace objects ever. I doubt they'll even touch on the actual ideas explored in the anime. Mark my words, I can already tell just from the shitty action-oriented style and the pathetic Nolan-level philosophy feel of the pictures and the trailer that it's going to be shit-tier, which is a shame because the story has so much potential.

Not to mention the director did Snow White and the Huntsman
Q: Who the fuck thought he would be at all capable of directing a real, provocative, more rhetorical than action-y movie?
A: Money grubbing jews who don't care about screwing over the actual fanbase because they know "adapted from the greatest anime movie of all time" will draw normie casual viewers into the theater to slurp up their defecations.

>The solution was to design a look that made it clear Major was wearing a suit while also giving off the effect of her being nude.
or the solution was not to make the movie

dropped

KINO

>That led the costume designers into more existential questions, like why would a cyborg with a "completely stylized, perfect form" wear a bra, and why would she wear any sort of provocative clothing like Major is sometimes seen wearing in the anime film? Because of that, Johansson's depiction and director Rupert Sanders' direction of Major wearing the thermoptic suit focuses on it being a purely practical outfit that's "very military and functional."

>"I think she’s very removed from her sexuality," Johansson said on set. "She’s in the midst of an identity crisis which I think, I guess perhaps some people’s sexuality or an abundance of it or whatever, comes at that time. ... She has such a murky idea of who she was that how would she even know what she likes or who she likes. She also has no heart -- human heart, anyway. So if you would imagine if that could be related to sensuality or sexuality, that part is also missing for her."

>Arad clarified that the decision to avoid nudity wasn't due to the fact it would give Ghost in the Shell a more mature rating.

>"The nudity wasn’t going to break us rating wise. We’re not faking it. It’s her thermoptic suit. Her skin doesn’t have thermoptic properties. When you’re watching the anime, she has the hood. Without a suit on, she can’t become invisible so I think we’re sticking with those rules," he said. "The rating and the choices we are making dovetail, but not necessarily driving each other. If it were R-rated she wouldn’t be running around naked."

JUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUST

At least eva is safe, r-r-right?

Did they skip the opening, They probably crammed her in a skin tight suit because she didn't want to work out for the role

Thoughts?

>tfw animeshit will be the next capeshit

There's a fan made scene that looks beter than the Hollywood version

Probably not.

Total misunderstanding of the source material.

...

trash, retards couldnt even rip off a Hooper painting.

>Avi Arad is producing this

This is going to be a disaster.

This. Definitely.

But the entire point of her being naked and killing the target naked was to display how inhuman and ghost-like she was. That's why it's iconic, because it establishes who the Major is and what the movie's themes are without Basil Exposition going on for minutes at a time.

>doesn't even have the pillow
>completely robotic bed
Good directors rely on the idea of expressing emotions/themes/motifs using as little resources as possible. The right shot only displays the cold, mechanical corporate outside, Motoko posed in contemplation and the bed. Motoko's bed looks spartan, but still a somewhat comfortable bed, signfying some humanity is in her. The left arm on her knee shows contemplation, as with her lowered head. You get feelings of isolation, that Motoko is stuck between humanity and transcending it. She's isolated from her fellow man, both in terms of physiology and mentality. There's a lot going on in that shot.

The left shot is a mess. It lacks the warmth of the outside vs the cold inside. There's supposed to be a large difference from the outside to the inside, signifying Motoko's isolation. Here, it looks like inside is the same as outside. The apartment shows too much, if they're really gunning for the copying of iconic scenes stuff, they've failed. Look at left motoko's bed vs right motoko's bed. The left is cold and sterile, with no pillow. We didn't need to see into Motoko's apartment in the right shot, only her, the bed and the outside. Motoko's position in the left still shows no contemplation.

This movie is a big fat mistake.

3DPD was a mistake

The real reason is that the author is a pervert.

Man I fucking hate jews. At least this will flop dreadfully like pretty much every Hollywood adaptation of an acclaimed manga or anime. It only sort of worked with All You Need Is Kill because that was a novel and there was nothing else to take from. Taking a beautifully animated movie that's been loved for decades and removing EVERYTHING GOOD ABOUT IT is not a smart move. Seriously, would anyone care about GITS if it wasn't an anime/manga?
>Whoa some ugly jew wearing a wig walking across CG Neo-Tokyo vs hand-drawn animation frames of an attractive character, which one do I pick??

Fairest comment in this thread. Didn't know about the changes made to the later animes.

Oh my.

terrible choice
has no boobs and is quite manly in attitude
+BRITISH ACCENT

This

>lezbo sex
>pervert

Please tell me you aren't serious.

Which of the anime movies should I watch. I've read there are about 5 or 6 but that some of them are different continuations than others or something like that. Which ones follow the story from the original '95 movie, and do I have to watch the series to understand the movies?

1 and 2 are in one timeline,
SAC is another timeline.
I haven't watched anymore other than that.
It used to just be the TV show was one and the movies were separate

>has no boobs and is quite manly in attitude

She does have boobs and they're the perfect size for Motoko, and Motoko is rather manly in the film. She could put on whatever accent they want her to do, plus a straight English accent would be better than an American one.

>Which of the anime movies should I watch
If you are over 12 then none of them.

“We’re doing a new process with LED lighting for the movie. Our cinematographer went through Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell: Innocence and picked out 28 color keys and those are programmed into our LED lighting board so that every lighting set up we have is an amalgamation of those 28 colors. So hopefully the palettes feel like the anime.”
collider.com/ghost-in-the-shell-movie-everything-you-need-to-know/

This looks bad. Like a bad sign for the movie. It's such a literal interpretation of the anime's imagery and it's such a boring, point the camera at scarjo, flat lighting, soulless image. That this is the marketing material they're putting out I'm predicting RoboCop remake levels of shittyness for this.

That scene is so good

The background is totally not a green screen.

>this is what user prefers

Looks alright but remaking scenes is boring. The original is already perfect.

looks like it's going to be so bad it's good. I'm ready for the ridiculousness.

That is a horrible picture of her.

They don't know what else to do.

they completely miss the point of the character, she isn't supposed to be so robotic looking

>At least this will flop dreadfully
I bet the Chinese will fucking love this movie. They made this movie for them, not us.

I could literally transition into a female full-body prosthesis AND play a better Major than her before she could get the cultivate the acting skills to do this role justice.

>Hillary Clinton clone

Hope it bombs

Would keep Hollywood from ruining more chinese cartoons

This will be a massive flop.

this she looks like a fucking doofus

Don't worry, no one cares about your shitty anime.

I agree with this, although I am still hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Literally black widow you dork

I'm an ass man through and through, but she should have kept her tits as well.
