I'm in love with space and celestial bodies in general. What's some interesting albums revolving around this theme, outside of NASA recordings and Tangerine Dream's work?

Darkspace III

OP I'll get a list together for you, I've got some recs you might like.

thanks I'm waiting
thanks

"Stellar Wales" is an album that combines the amplified electromagnetic fields and charged particle interactions of planets with field recordings of whales.

A lot of Aleks Michalski's work is space themed
axen.bandcamp.com/

Some of Mathias Grassow's huge catalog is space themed
mathiasgrassow.bandcamp.com/album/2016-interstellar-gravity

I'm actually struggling more than I thought I would. I could recommend a heap of ambient, psybient, psytrance, downtempo and bocuma that are either referential in titles of space, but not that evocative, or not that referential of space at all but kinda evocative if you set your mind to it.

eno apollo

2112 obviously, the grandaddy of Space Prog

Cygnus X1 Books I and II are full space prog but the rest of their albums aren't

IONOSPHERE - Nightscape

Trampique - Opscope
store.darkclover.ro/album/opscope

Helicalin - Space Dope

Please do, I'm really interested in spacey/space-themed psytrance (sounds kind of cool) even if that's not what i was originally looking for.

Cold Womb Descent - Rise of Ldaovh
coldwombdescent.bandcamp.com/album/rise-of-ldaovh

Am doing. Are you familiar with Ultimae's roster, Solar Fields, H.U.V.A Network, Carbon Based Lifeforms etc?

Or Altar Records, who do a lot of psytrance, eg AURORAX?

I don't feel like linking absolutely everything, I'd rather spend time digging deeper for new stuff. Honestly, I've had NASA Voyager Space Sounds for the longest time, as well as the Symphonies of the Planets volumes, and there's nothing quite like that.

The Planets by Gustav Holst.

Lunar Navigational Systems - Aural Portraits of Triton vol 1 & 2
lunarnavigationalsystems.bandcamp.com/music

sorry, should've recommended the Ldaovh trilogy earlier
coldwombdescent.bandcamp.com/album/ldaovh-trilogy

Moss - [brb need to take a dump]
oldmossechoes.bandcamp.com/album/in-the-great-empty-kingdom-split-with-amusia

>IONOSPHERE - Nightscape
I'm not sure if this reminds me of space but I'm loving this either way and i normally don't like drone.
I will check out this sweet psytrance then friend. I'm looking into Solar Fields right know and it sounds trippy as fuck.
I don't have any experience into this kind of music you recommended above, so believe me you did more than enough.

Sun ra obviously

sun ra - space is the place
sun ra - angels and demons at play
sun ra - concert for the comet kouhoutek

Icarus - Cosmos
icarvsfell.bandcamp.com/album/cosmos

here's one I should've rec'd earlier, but it slipped my mind

Sabled Sun (basically everything by them)
cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/signals-i-iii
cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/signals-iv-v-vi
cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/2145
cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/2146
cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/2147
cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/2148

I've been meaning to get into Sabled Sun myself for ages, and just never got round to it. I might now though.

>Sabled Sun
Really solid space music from what i'm hearing now. Gonna save them for later.

Lunar Testing Lab - Signalling the Stars
lunartestinglab.bandcamp.com/album/signalling-the-stars

Cepheus - I (& II)
cepheus00.bandcamp.com/album/i

THOLEN - Sternklang
cycliclaw.bandcamp.com/album/sternklang

Zalys - Fragments of Life
zalys.bandcamp.com/album/fragments-of-life

Jaja - Stellaris
cyannetlabel.bandcamp.com/album/stellaris

That's about it for now. I know it's a bit hit and miss but hopefully some of them work for you.

thank you based user

this is a great thread

Hey OP, me again.

Look, a fresh release!
cosmicleaf.bandcamp.com/album/action-reaction

This is the best one you have posted yet, i'm imagining superhuman defenders of the earth protecting the planet against weirdly-shaped galactic overloards. The action takes place just above earth's atmosphere just like the album cover suggests.

haha, crazy. it released half an hour ago and I linked to it here the moment I picked the e-mail up.

There's one more bandcamp page I can think off the top of my head it might be worth you following

plexusmusic.bandcamp.com/album/anima

don't have time to find a good rec on it though, i need to shower.

Ison - Cosmic Drone
Alpha du Centaure - La couleur de mes rĂªves

Vinyl Williams.

Planet-core:

Holst

(ignore the stupid picture, song is dope):

Also this. Nurse With Wound often do(es) cheeky, dada, surreal, but for this release they (he) made a straightforward ambient album which both sounds nice and does sound (mostly) like you'd expect it to sound just by looking at the cover.

I interpret the loud opening part as the big bang or similar, while the large majority of the track is just the cosmos drifting along slowly, as is its wont.

*upon closer review, this album (which consists entirely of the one hour-long selection), or material, was commissioned by a planetarium for some media presentation, TV show or similar. NWW accepted the project and this was the result, so that backstory explains why they "played it straight" a bit more than they usually would.

the actual ambience, bleah

You want a lw and sw receiver and pick up satellites all night , get a tube radio from 1940 it's ghosts

>Ison - Cosmic Drone
This is magical.
I'm familiar with NWW but i have never listened to this. I'm liking it much better than anything by him.

Swedish rock band Yuri Gagarin
