It's not actually a horror movie. It's an R-rated fantasy with very dark and adult themes. Treat it like that, and you'll enjoy it much more.

It's gore porn. But better that your usual slasher flick. Watch them all but stop after Hellseeker. It gets worse from there

It is not a horror movie like you expect with all the hub bub abput it beong so good. It is good in a psycological weird kinda way, just dont go in to it hoping for vlood and guts and killing

Just watched this last night. So good for its time. Actually had the balls to try some out there shit.

I like it being described as a dark fantasy but if you really pay attention there are some pretty creepy scenes. If you have a sharp eye you might see some crew pushing some of the props around heh

It's pretty neat for its relatively low budget.
Making pinhead the star in the sequels was a mistake.

It is definitely not a horror movie as you'd expect.
It is more like a mystery novel with BDSM shit and, like an user said up there, dark and adult themes.

But only the first one and the fifth one are good. The rest are really fucking trash.

This.

Kind of like how Alien is sci-fi horror, but really the xenomorphs are more cool and intriguing than they are frightening.
You wouldn't want to meet one in real life, but you want to know more about their mystery.

Outdated effects and all the gore will seem silly now though it was pretty intense back then. Barker's themes are still interesting. Also, top notch soundtrack.

Hellseeker is the 4th one if I recall correctly?

Watch the first two and then leave it the hell alone.

Watch the third movie if you're desperate, but know that the moment it goes from American-British produced to 100% American produced, it drops dramatically in quality and remains shit.

The fuck? It's definitely a horror movie. It's just not that scary. Not all horror movies have to be scary you know. A movie can be a drama and still remain a horror film to some degree. Hellraiser is filled to the brim with horror imagery.

best scene is in the 3rd one when that one guy has the blonde handcuffed to the bed is fuckin her good

> not that scary
> we will come through the walls, sink hooks into your skin and then tear you to shreds
> then we will put you back together again
> and do it over and over forever

either you are entirely fearless or you lack imagination. i'm going with the latter.

i think he means it isnt a formulaic slasher like its contemporaries that it often gets lumped in with, e.g. Friday the 13th and the Nightmare on Elm Street movies.

it's definitely a horror movie, but it puts its own unique spin on the genre and really breaks new ground with its themes and makeup effects

No that's the six one, Hell on Earth is the 4th.

>insulting someone because they respectfully disagreed with you

a decent horror film.

it's an average low-budget film with very good horror effects but those cheesy yellow tracer fx at the end always make me cringe. the director also wrote the superb novella the hellbound heart which this film is based on. it's remarkable how good the book is versus the movie. maybe the fugly casting had something to do with it. needed better looking actors

Nice music

> respectfully
> the fuck?

i understand why you're putting it down; it's much safer to trash something than it is to defend something you like.
