Muscle is lost 5 x faster than it is gained, so put in at least one extra shift at the gym and make sure to get plenty of good food down you, within the 'golden hour' after exercising and you'll be good. You can do the bulking thing too - smash the calories and then turn it into muscle, but you're the boss. Protein obviously helps, but just spending more time at the gym helps more.

The biggest key to getting swole is consistency. Don't expect to get anything out of it without putting a lot effort. Never neglect rest, training or nutrition, fucking up one of the 3 can really negatively inpact your training.

You probably want to eat like 3k Calories a day, with a good amount of protein, fat, and carbs if you really want to gain muscle. You also should be going to the gym 4 days a week or more if you want optimal gains. Rest is really important too. The gym part is easy once you're into it, the eating and rest are what will set you back the easiest.
