that shit was intensely satisfying
>parent has to take a phone call

Dont touch the fucking fone mom!!!!

I remember when I only had a 14k modem
Also remember when Internet access was 100% free
Before social media. Before Google.

Everything was better then.
C'est la vie

5 minutes to download 1 song.

More like 5 days in my case

>not having modem sounds play when your computer boots up and connects to the internet

I also still have the female voice from Prodigy letting me know I have new mail.

I miss the pre-internet days. Social media was a mistake.

Internet was amazing until 2001 or so. It got better but also worse until 2007 and it has been complete shit since then.

I still have the 5 &1/4" floppy with Prodigy.

Also...., I love & truly miss the sound of a dialup modem connecting.
It always meant that "dirty pictures" were soon to follow.
Just sayin'.

>miss the sound of a dialup modem connecting.
I hear you. That and the relaxing hum from my 50mhz Packard Bell.

That bzzzt bzzt bzt bzzzt as it was read

>still don't have facebook

remember you could SEE the games and pick?

I remember it but I don't miss it.

I miss how people were interacting and chatting at BBS, exchancing files and waiting there for those downloads to finish. I don't miss that slow speed or how small capacity those floppies and disks had back then. But that feeling of togerthenes, common interests and when you only knew eachother by files, nick, hardware and contact number. Fuck. It was epic.

sauce pls (pic related)

Those days when I was the only computer addict in the house.
Now all these nephews and cousins have phones in their hands instead of toys and skateboards.
All sitting in the same room saying nothing. Awkward as fuck.

Yeah and people on the street walking around staring down at their smart phone.

I've never made a social media account. I've never owned a touchscreen phone. I'm a bitter as fuck old man and I'm only 35. Fuck this world.

BBS. FidoNet. Usenet. Better in every way.

I remember setting my friends windows 95 desktop to goatse man. And changing the login sound to a screamer audio file.

Do you remember 300 baud? 1200 baud? 2400 baud? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

2400 baud was my first. Upgraded to 14.4, 33.6 and finally 56k.

mad respect

>I've never made a social media account. I've never owned a touchscreen phone
Exactly the same here and I actually am an old man (by comparison). But am I bitter? The fuck I am. Life's too short and I haven't got those things because I've chosen not to.

Do you remember punch cards and mainframes?

Do you remember tape computers? My friend used to work with them for a bank.

You mean tape drives? For sure.

Do you remember the Babbage Engine?

Do you remember getting those road runner cd’s with your internet service so you could install the software on your computer to run dial up?

When I was a little autist in elementary school I used to have a collection of AOL CDs. I guess I liked the different patterns on the discs so whenever they sent a new disc in the mail I would add it to this little CD case I had full of Only AOL CDs. The funny thing is I didnt even use AOL.

I loved this shit dude.

>I miss the sounds it made
The sound of dial-up is something to be fondly remembered. It invokes the feeling of connecting to a whole new world.

...

There was a website called No More AOL CD's. You could mail them aol CD's and their plan was to collect a million of them and do something like dump them at AOL's headquarters. Of course we always got a couple in the mail every week and the post office down the street always had a display, so I'd get 20 at the time. I mailed some to them a few times, but ended up collecting about 500 that got too heavy to mail. But I'd probably sent about 100 to them.

i like how that sticker isn't y2k compatible

dialupsound com
its better to just miss the sound and not the waiting three fucking day to download one episode of a show you like.

icq

No we must go back user.

...

I used this a lot lol

...

Well shit you guys probably put my collection to shame. I hated having multiples of the same CD so I would only keep one of each version they sent.

...

Used to login to my brothers msn after putting a RAT on his computer. lol those were the days xD
