You will never experience 1950s America as a teenager

You will never experience 1950s America as a teenager

That feel when you will never...
>drive a classic car
>pull up to a gas station and hear the "ding-ding" sound as the attendants run out to fill your tank
>share a malt with a classy girl at the local burger joint
>know the feeling of being the first family on the block to own a television set
>dance to rock and roll music with your friends
>have a strong social connection with your community and church
>have a mom who cooks delicious meals for dinner every night and doesn't talk back to your father
>have a dog who fetches the paper every day
>drink classic coca-cola from a glass bottle and have it cost only a nickle

A lot of this assumes you were well off and lived in a good neighborhood. What do you think “being poor” is a new invention?

Most people here, had they lived in the 50’s would have been just as bad off if not worse because their parents would have demanded they worked in whatever shit factory or desk they do at the age of 15.

That image was propaganda back then, you’re just falling for decades later

Why u do this to me OP i always dreamed of these years
> also no niggers

> work in a factory job with little to no health and safety regulations
> no air quality regulations at work
> btw working when you turn 12, 13 if you're lucky
> Maximum speed in 'classic' cars is a whole 50 MPH
> Korean war is just around the corner, you will be fighting in the Vietnam war in a decade or two
> Red Scare and the possibility of nuclear annihilation is always present.
> No computers to look at porn
> Still an autistic faggot
> No adderall

But you know, at least Eisenhower is the president, I guess.

Did trap porn exist in the 50's? If not then fuck that

Bitch, you don't know me. I do what I want.

Well I can assure you people are only going to dwell further into technology and automation. We are in the transition phase and it is shocking to some people that someone just born a decade later can live an entirely different way.

Just think about it. We will see the most change in one life time than any other human who lived before us. Most people throughout history had pretty much the same technology and life style their entire lives.

Which reminds me of a story about an American civil war vet that ended up being a passenger in a military jet in the 1950's (obviously mega old by then.) Can you imagine how that guy must have been to live from 1850's - 1950's? We will all likely feel the same, but in a shorter amount of time. The world in 50 years isn't even predictable at this point.

In the BDSM community there are some 24/7 relationships that do 1950s roleplay, I've always found this quite interesting but irl I think the future will always be better than the past

>fuck up and be black
>getting whipped, stabbed, raped, shot whenever your white master wants

I'm not disagreeing but classic cars were just cars back then bro, they hadn't acquired the vintage yet

>things were so great!
>A full tank of gas only cost 75 cents, burgers were around 20 cents, and I could buy a house for $20 right out of high school.
>I can't into upward mobility or go practically anywhere outside of the U.S., but I'm happy with mediocrity.

this
no niggers

Average man with a GED in the 50s made 20k more than the average college graduate does today

You also gotta think that due to inflation the people back then would have probably thought that a nickel was extortion as you could probably get another brand cheaper.

If true then sad pepe

dubs of wisdom.

It is.

Im trying to find the source hold on

>church.
Lol 'murica

To answer your post -- and BTW I *DID* live in the 1950's...

> work in a factory job with little to no health and safety regulations
There were many health & safety regs -- they actually started to be created in the 1920's and by the 50's were firmly in place. However we didn't know everything we do today and new regs were added over time as we learned more

> no air quality regulations at work
Very untrue - see the answer above

> btw working when you turn 12, 13 if you're lucky
Actually the child labor laws were essentially the same as today, work younger than 18 with a permit or hardship. This varied from state to state but was pretty much standard

> Maximum speed in 'classic' cars is a whole 50 MPH
Boy are you WRONG.... These beauties hit 120+. 8 cyl engines and unleaded gas - muscle cars were everywhere

> Korean war is just around the corner, you will be fighting in the Vietnam war in a decade or two
Korean ware started in 1950 and ended about 2 years later. The US had "advisors" (with guns) in VietNam in 1952 and the war lasted till 1975. So you are right, but nothing's changed - America's involvement in the middle east - Afghanastan, Kuwait - you still got war.

> Red Scare and the possibility of nuclear annihilation is always present.
This is still present today - the possibility of nuclear war and the proliferation of atomic and biological weapons is still a concern

> No computers to look at porn
Absolutely true - I had to get pictures of your mom in the mail

> Still an autistic faggot
Name calling by someone who really had no idea what they were talking about seems a bit trite

> No adderall
Absolutely true - we used marijuana and alcohol

Post scarcity society in 1st world countries
OR
Neo-capitalist hellhole.
2nd is more likely in USA

>I *DID* live in the 1950's.
When you were a baby.
You need to prove your age if you're claiming otherwise. Faggot.

You can still do most of the things you listed.

Is this dependant on career path chosen though as I imagine there would be more jobs today that weren't available back then, jobs that require less technical skill administrative jobs and basic tech support and call centres.
Low income jobs that simply weren't around due to technology restrictions and the fact that bulk buy stores and places appliance (pcs and game shops too) simply didn't exist.

It's obvious that life was better in the 50's, Is anyone here who doesn't hate their life?

Or time travel.

Or an immortal

There are things in life that I hate, but I don't hate my life.

There's like one thing on there you can't do now. Even the tv one. I'm the first family on the block to have a smart home setup and a VR system.. New shit man. It keeps coming..

As for idealising the past, it never works. They say music was better then.. that's because all the shit faded into obscurity and no one listened to it long enough for it to make it to our time. Only the really great stuff endured...

Life always sucked. The entire baby boomer generation was raised by ptsd suffering veterans who witnessed the worst war in history, Russia was going to drop nukes on you any day, now, Vietnam was coming and you were going to be drafted into a useless war where many Americans died for nothing, and the losing war was extended on the sole purpose Nixon said himself was to maintain his voter base..

Still had polio, mumps, measles and rubella because those vaccines weren't out yet.

People reminisce. They remember how great things were. They forget the bullshit.

When you're 70 you won't remember 9/11 as well as you remember your favourite TV shows and music that shaped you.

You won't remember this shitty ass election as much as you'll remember you first love.

You won't remember the school shootings as much as you'll remember your best times with your buds.

Oh and

>You'll.never be the first family on the block to get a first tv.

One family per block got to have this experience. And they were rich. This isn't exactly a crazy common experience all people in the 50s got to have.

>have a girl who isn't a slut
>nignogs act with respect
Yeah op a better time man it is sad. I grew up in the 80s and it was better than this

Did you push a hoop down the street with stick as well?

You are correct, Satan. But at least in the 50s up until at least the early 90s, we had no true cuntservatives, libtards, cucks, polygenders, nogs or the like.

What were the 80s as a whole like for you, user?

I got to live it for a bit. It was all it was cracked up to be. Except my father had to work about an 80 hour week as a retail manager to keep it going.

>Drive a classic car that if something goes wrong you either have to know someone or pay to get it fixed because you can't just google that shit
>pull into the gas station and only hearing the ding-ding because music isn't as portable or abundant because no spotify or torrenting
>Have to be in specific places at specific times for romantic attention because no tinder/dating apps
>Having fuck all to do in the winter months indoors because you don't have a TV
>You can still do this, and even organise huge meets through facebook for this
>You can also still do this, again even moreso with huge organised events
>Not having a mother who absolutely resents you and your family because she has no choice or options in life, instead have a mother who does things because she loves you and choose this life
>Read news IMMEDIATELY without leaving the comfort of a bed, or having to rely on a dog.
>Saddest thing on this list

The 50's really wasn't all that OP, we still have milkshakes and racism the world just got better and more connected.

If he were in his teens or 20 he could potentially be for real if he were in his 80s(and on Sup Forums kek), but he's clearly a dipshit with a boner for a past that never existed.

Rocky got blacked and they're making a sequel.

They made Stallone apologize for Clint Eastwood

Right in the feels. Good music, good neighbours, and no niggers

>What were the 80s as a whole like for you, user?
It was great but it got really messed up when my friend Will went missing in the woods(at least that's what we thought!)

Checked. I agree. The only way to insulate your self is to be debt free. Totally. Owe no one a dime. Otherwise move to a country with a less insane system. 2 party system is a march of tyranny that is going to set up cyber feudalism

>You won't remember the school shootings

If anything we'll be nostalgic for them.

"What happened to the good old days when a kid could just shoot up a school, man?"

Something tells me it was the south and Iowa just like it is now.

Possible I imagine the latter is correct
Fuck man imagine if he's 80 oldest Sup Forumstard ever

>have a mom hooked on Quaaludes to help calm her anxieties making her semilucid at best
>have dad being an alcoholic with a girlfriend he sees whenever possible
>having to hide anything about you that's "different" cause your dad will beat your ass and disown you
>God help you if you're a minority, or gay, or dirt poor

The flower power movement and hippes in general we're just around the corner... They're why drugs became illegal, because they were super anti war and the Nixon administration wanted to criminalized them to deligitimise their position to the public.. there's your libtards and cuntservatives in one shot..

Also oil companies we're putting lead in our gasoline as a cheap additive and it was literally making our children retarded and poisoning our brains. when scientists discovered it was a neurotoxin the court battle took 20 years as the oil companies ran campaigns convincing the public that lead was naturally occuring in the environment and had no harmful effects. Scientists against were labelled as corporate shills.

As for polygenders, there have always been weirdos and people living extreme lifestyles.. all that's different now us their platform to make themselves more apparent, and how much you choose to pay attention. Don't like it? Build your environment accordingly.

It.. always. Sucked..

At least now you can find a friend group on the internet and be at a social space with new Bros by tonight, and several kids on your block aren't going to die from rubella while everyone shrugs and say, welp, that's how the world is. Innocent kids die at alarming rates from disease. Que Sera sera.

Devil trips of truth my dude

I think American culture peaked in the 80. Coolest movies, just enough technology to make lives convenient but not take it over and ruin our relationships, good music, you could get into a hobby and not have to worry about idiots taking it over. It's all been down hill from there.

No, it didn't. Mostly just naked tits.

Drugs were also made illegal to sell the anti-immigration agenda to people and to keep running prisons for profit. Easier to subdue the coloured people by making weed seem like the devil. Its only changed now because the controlled population has more access to information than ever before in history.

But yeah user, people were so controlled back then - and the lack of medicine and technology made life full of a lot more suffering than it had to be.

someone just watched back to the future for the first time

when you can smack a woman on the face for doing stupid shit women do....when women didn't even dare to think about doing stupid shit when man is around

when feminazis were still being made in the testicles of their faggot fathers

Good Times....Good Times

A lot of people don't want the immediacy or constant bombardment of information. Also people didn't need dating apps back then because they enjoyed meeting people naturally like you are supposed to. A lot of people want a simpler life.

>You will never experience 1950s America as a teenager
>That feel when you will never...
>>drive a classic car

You are an idiot! In the '50s no one drove a 'classic car'. They were not 'classic cars' by then, they were just 'cars'.

The 80s had some neat as fuck tech for the time.

The 80's were all right. Absolute oeak if porn. Ginger Lynn.

Compare what lowly workers made in the 50's to what their CEO's made.

Then compare todays numbers.

And now you know why people struggle even with 2 income earners and family life suffering because of parents not being home and needing overtime / bonus to scrape by.

Shit i work in a union shop and the last few holdout oldtimers talk about how they hired in at $5 an hour back in 1974 which is $30 - 35 an hour in todays terms. and thats what they STARTED at. after a few years they were making $10 an hour or more depending on the job.

That's what I mean. Companies actually cared about designs back then and took risks. All the cars look the same today, even if some car designs in the 80s were stupid. It would be cool as fuck to visit Japan in it's prime.

Literally no-one is forcing you to live your life like that if you don't want to. I know plenty of people in the millennial age range who limit their internet/phone time to a couple of hours a day and spend the rest of their time out hiking in nature or with friends or pursuing other hobbies. Using the internet all day everyday is an unhealthy addiction.

There's nothing wrong with meeting people "naturally", and again you still can. But the places this is socially acceptable are few, and they are usually only open at night. The whole idea of dating based on minimal information has existed since forever in dating through friends, people would even write letters to each other before meeting. All these apps have done is streamline the process so you can actually get to know the person a little via instant messaging and determine what they actually want.

No-one is stopping you from having a simpler life - but the truth is life would be so much more effort and energy without technology.

How long do you think it'll be till economic collapse and bloodlust for the 1% user?

I don't have source and I don't know if it's been referenced in this thread, but I read the decline in salary and values were the women entering the workforce in droves. Companies no longer had to pay men high salaries to support their families so they held up salaries so they didn't even come close to keeping up with inflation. EQUALITY!

It's more the fact that people were much more open to interactions and meeting new people because they didn't have any other options. Sure, it will always still happen to an extent, but it is much less and much different than before.

My goal is to buy some land and live off of that, but even that is different than a few decades ago. All the young people move to cities now and it's hard to fit in or find people that you bond with in rural areas.

That feeling when you're living in the 50s and never will know how it is to have technology.

>delicious meals
Why the fuck do you talk like a retarded commerical?

I'm sure women had an impact on the lowering of wages, but people can't afford to support their families now. Companies don't really care whether or not men can support their families, they only care about whether or not they can get away with paying less.

If you believe this then you're a fool. These people at the very top (and I mean, very top, not your surgeons or lawyers, but CEO's of fortune 500 companies) WANT you to be fed bullshit that keeps you fighting each other.

"Fuck women for wanting to work forcing my wages to go down" ... meanwhile, the average CEO salary spikes by like 300% over the space of a couple of years. Like do you honestly think they money is going to other people fighting the same fight to survive as you? The numbers have to be published for legal reasons, you can literally SEE where the money is going. How can you un-ironically believe its anything other than the greed of the 1%?

I know, being exactly how I'am now in a lower upper class family and being blond haired and blue eyed growing up in 1950's America would have been amazing. it really would have

tits or gtfo

I can see what you mean - different mindset for a different time. Do you really think given the choice though that people would pick the harder route? Unless your conventionally attractive, finding a partner back then would have been a nightmare! Do you think Cindy at the grocery store wanted to chat with every single guy that asked for her number, eventually winding up a shitty marriage? Do you think Brad really wanted that 3/10's number? If they had the choice between spending days, weeks or months pursuing romance compared to hooking with someone whose into you within the hour that they'd pick the former?

And solid goal user, I really do hope it works out for you. And with automation living off the land should be a lot easier. I'm pretty sure those bored lonely people looking for friends are on the internet - you can always look for local forums and meet people that way.

A) I'm not a woman
B) Cool persuasive argument

not a woman but you whine like one. if you are jealous of the 1% you've had your entire adult life to make decisions to become one. then if you really value the 99% you can change the system. but no, you want to be a little bitch. reach up into your vagina and pull your balls back down and please don't breed.

I live in Iowa. I have, in order:

Driven a Classic Car
Heard the ding ding, had my gas tank filled
Shared a malt at a burger joint
Danced to rock and roll music with friends
Have strong social connection with community and church

It can be like that again my man, if you do what's right.

you cried when trump won, didn't you? be honest!

Sounds nice. It's not like that in most of the country, unfortunately.

Yeah user because I was totally born into a rich family with amazing connections to the upper echelons of society. I was totally able to invest millions with no real risk to my current financial security. I definitely could have become the 1% despite not having access to red brick university education or immense amounts of free time and luck.

I'm posting about this because I want to discuss the situation of the world and see other peoples views on the matter. I like debate - I want to discuss how change can occur and see where I'm wrong or have room for change in my views. But since you seem incapable of doing so without resorting to insults about my manhood, I will assume you're underage/a troll.

Either way, this is the last (you) you're getting until you can respond with a sense of understanding, dignity and reason. Have a good day user, because if you're spending your Saturday trolling on Sup Forums I can only assume something is up.

Tfw polio

Dat Reddit spacing tho.

redit is beter than 4chingus

>hey, nons look here, a glitch!!!

Both good for different things to be honest. What kind of retard faggot expects a good debate on Sup Forums of all places? (You)

kek what a fucken baby

The last civil war vet (12 year old drummer boy that lied about being 16 years old) died in the 60's I believe

Than feel free to move your faggot ass back there.

> will never linch nigros everyday
feel bad man

He could have been born in the 40's and be barely hitting his 70's now. It's not implausible just improbable

Only 25% of Vietnam vets were drafted, and on top of that of about half a million men only around 50 thousand actually died compared to over a million Vietnamese

Quaaludes didn't have a patent filed for it in the US until '62. 50's were different for everyone.
(You)

My grandfather was lower-middle-class and lived this lifestyle. Having strong family values and keeping niggars out of your neighborhood doesn't cost a fucking penny

Being poor is for black people

Someone like you would be chased down the block and hung from a tree as you should be

The only thing that sad is that your entire generation exist. Anyone under the age of 25 living today is a useless piece of shit human being.

Lmao OP the idealized 50s you see in product advertisements never existed. There was just as much abuse and loneliness as there is now. Where do you think the beat generation came from?

All you're describing is having a community, which you wouldn't have had back then anyway because you'd be the same degenerate inferior being you are now.

Ahhh, the 50’s

Your just a child that doesn't know shit about the world or how anything was or is. So shut the fuck up and live your crappy life. Fucking millennial piece of human garbage

uh oh touched a nerve

Keep blaming your lack of fulfilling relationships on the world and not on your behavior bucko

Alright buddy I think it's time for your nappy.

*you're

AGREED

arguably the only thing worth living for nowadays

Only gay wads and Christians would ever want this.

people were way dumber back then so if you were smart and could invent something to get people hooked on, like burgers, you'd have it MADE

I'm married to a gorgeous Icelandic blonde I own a house I own three motorcycles a truck and a car for her. I live and breathe the American dream. I'm angry at you little sons of bitches because this dream is very attainable, just not when you're a leftist faggot, or any coddled little man child
