I have seen it. Also to make your face and body visible you have to wear relatively scant armor which leaves you quite vulnerable to backstabs/reverse backsteps. If you want to show off your face that also means no helmet or using a crown/veil both of which leave a lot to be desired in terms of damage absorption and resistances.

Honestly damage absorption only works noticeably with heavy armor characters with fucktons or vitality like Havel monsters or cathedral knighta. You can hit an acceptable damage absorption just by having a clothing item in each slot. Gives you more points to put into damage anyway

It is noticeable even with much less armor(it is less noticeable but it is still easy to see.) Absorption was much better in dark souls 1 and 2 and then three kinda made armor into a fashion statement instead of real protection which is a shame
