There are 10 people at the meeting

There are 10 people at the meeting
They greet each other with handshakes

How many handshakes there will be in total?

You should be able to solve this

What if they all shake each other's hands at the same time? Just form one big hand-shaking circle.

is this even possible?

90

WRONG!

99?

It's just a circle. you shake the hands of the two people next to you, while they do the same, all the way around.

45?

you must shake it with all of them individually

yes

10!

None, they are all paraplegic

Follow up question: They all have different genders and pronouns. How long will they need to memorize the individual genders and pronouns of each other, so that no one will be triggered when named the wrong way?

this is a bullshit poorly worded question
you say
>they greet each other with handshakes
>handshakes
>shakes
shakes is plural, as in multiple shakes of the hands
you didn't say if this plurality applies only to each party's hands having one "pair' of shakes, thus counting as one shake, or whether the parties potentially are capable of shaking multiple times, thus creating more than one shake event with each meeting
and potentially each meeting could have a different number of shakes
my answer is fuck you and fucking bullshit question OP
pic unrelated

55

its the gaussian formular:
10+1
9+2
8+3
7+4
5+6

= 5*11 = 55

its 90

they'll be bowing instead; much more hygenic

The first person shakes hand with 9 ppl, second 8 ppl. 9+8+7...

45

45 dipshits.

100.

doh

Well that's no fun.

It's obviously 80. Anyone who disagrees is autistic

Tell me why

This guy gets it

this is what happens when you fail math class but still think yore smart.

There 10 people. Each person shakes a hand 9 times. So that's 90. But you need to account for the people who already shook hands so it's 80

This implies that:

a) Everyone has shaken everyone's hand 9 times, when a handshake between 2 of the same people shouldn't occur more than once.

b) You've only accounted for 10 of the duplicate handshakes, effectively murdering someone in the room.

c) The answer isn't 45, which it is.

It's 45, I'm stupid, But I'm not that stupid user.

The first person shakes 9 persons hands (can't shake his own duh). The second person shakes 8 peoples hand because he can't shake himself or the other person he already shook.
9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1=45
90 handshakes and you gotta shake everyones hand twice.

You didn't account that in one handshake 2 ppl gets their hand skook

Attached: 1518179162671.jpg (963x1024, 82K)

If 2 ppl shake their hand there's only one handshake and 2 ppl who shake 1 hand

My bad- the murder would have to occur before the 9th person commits their 9th handshake, leaving the total at 80.

Are we going to account for personal preferences? Because one person will refuse to shake hands and keep hand sanitizer within hands length, two people will hate each other and refuse to shake hands, one of them is a woman, so the idiot trying to sleep with her won't shake that person's hand either, and then there will be that overly social guy that doesn't shake any female'so hand, but gives them the creepy Christian side hug, so the answer is 37.

person one shakes everyone's hand once person two shakes everyone's but person twos hand and so forth

>He is author of this....?

Person 1 doesn't shake his own hand

>2015+3
>not shaking your own hand at business meetings to prove your dominance.
Shiggydiggy bruh.

>10 people
>They greet each other with handshakes
Assuming they each shake each other once
Person 10=9 hand shakes
Person9=8 hand shakes
Person 8=7 hand shakes
Person 7=6 hand shakes
Person 6=5 hand shakes
Person 5=4 hand shakes
Person 4=3 hand shakes
Person 3=2 hand shakes
Person 2=1 hand shakes
Person 1=0 hand shakes
>9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1+1=44
If everyone shacks everyone's hand
9x9=81
You can't shack your own hand

Jesus are you from 2012+3? References like
>shiggy diggy
And
>2015+3
Make it seem like you are

Just bored as fuck.

>9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1+1=44
How tf does that become 44?
Its 46, your calculator is high

checked

Nice try internet historian

10C2=45

Did you mean 10 factorial?

90?

I really don't know the answer to this I'm gonna say 20?

If 1 guy shakes everyone else's hand he would have had 9 handshakes.so assuming the buissiness men once they shook one man's hand and they moved on to the next the equation should be 9+9+9+9+9+9+9+9+9+9 = 90 profit?

45

Nope it’ll be 9+8+7... the last guy won’t have to shake anyone’s hand since the other nine guys already went to shake his hand

But wouldn't that mean he would have shaken hands with all nine of them?

It is 54. it would be 10+9+8....+2=

The first guy does shake 9 peoples hand but his hand is shook as well so it would be a full 10 people.

One

You know I feel like OP didnt really word out his problem right. So if the first guy shakes everyone's hand and walks off to the side where the next guy shakes the rest of their hands (not including the one already shook) and does the same so on and so forth that would be 44? 9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2=44

Each person has to shake hands with 9 others.

9 + 8 + 7 .... + 1 = 45

U can't have one because the problem didn't say the last guy shook his own hand only the others. It's 44

I would test this shit out but i don't own 9 friends

I'm not counting people stupid, I'm counting handshakes
10 people, named A through to J
A shakes the hands of everyone B through to J = 9 handshakes. No more handshakes involving A, he is removed from the equation. = 9
B shakes the hands of C - J - 8 more handshakes = 17
C shakes the hands of D - J - 7 more = 24
D shakes the hands of E - J - 6 more = 30
E shakes the hands of F - J - 5 more = 35
F shakes the hands of G - J - 4 more = 39
G shakes the hands of H, I, J - 3 more = 42
H shakes the hands of I and J - 2 more = 44
I shakes the hand of J and nobody more, J is the only guy left. There's my one = 45

Okay lets explain this so all the autistic kids understand. Everyone needs to shake 9 other people's hands (you don't shake your own hand duh)

A handshake is 2 people shaking hands. So in ONE handshake TWO people have shaken one hand each (2/90 completed in one handshake ). (90 because its 10 people which needs to shake 9 hands each).

45 handshakes and everyone has shook hands.

For example lets say its 3 people meeting. 3*2 (3 people shaking 2 hands each)
3*2/2 = 3
3 handshakes, this size is so small you can imagane it easily.
