Oh man is that the guy on top next to the crane. Hahhaaha

OOOPPSSIIEEEEEEEE! ABSOLUTE MADLADS!

VSL Employee applying additional stress to post tensioning rod in the exact spot where the failure occurred on the North end. The crane was holding up the hydraulic Ram The blue thing in this picture) that was pulling on the rod.

The VSL employee died in the collapse

>allright jeff. there's about six cars under it right now. Let her go.

Why can't they test bridge strength when there aren't cars and people underneath it?

They don't want to disrupt traffic. People be bitching when you do that.

they're probably more inconvenienced now...

i thought we knew how to build bridges?

well sure, that's how it is. Nobody knows what's in store for them in the future. If they did they'd always make the correct choices in the past.

This is Florida we're talking about.

Wait.
So that's what this shit's all about.

If a bridge falls down before the span was ever finished during construction, is it a bridge at all?

Because to me this looks like a construction accident.

Epic failure (on so many levels) this is not.

>is it a bridge at all?

It was a bridge, not for very long.

>this looks like a construction accident.

That it is.

Do we agree that this was a construction accident and not an engineering one?

What exactly was failed or neglected?

>Do we agree that this was a construction accident and not an engineering one?

No

>What exactly was failed or neglected?

The part of the bridge that holds the bridge.

News article bragging about the bridge 1 week before accident:
>The innovative installation method significantly reduced risks to workers, pedestrians and motorists and minimized traffic disruptions, FIU said.
>miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/west-miami-dade/article204506084.html

Fucking China its a deathtrap even the pedestrian bridges will kill you. True subhumans WHEN NUKE EM?

If you don't follow instructions of how it's supposed to be built, how can it be an engineering failure? There's a lot of messed up ethics in constructions when deadlines can't be met or costs start running high to where shit like this happens - so does anyone with a brain know exactly what failed and why?

This happened in Florida. If the Chinese had built this bridge it'd still be standing.

>If you don't follow instructions of how it's supposed to be built

So how does this work?. Did the engineer "if someone apart from the construction" actually come forward and say "whoa, whoa, I never told them to do this, they were executing the wrong design". If the engineer signs off on every step taken then obviously the engineer saw things going the way he designed it.

You filthy lying jewlover. Everything crumbles down if its made by chinks

If the Chinese had copied this bridge...
Fixed it for you

Some chink contractor has been assigned. Its the only plausible reason.

Nah. He has a point. Everything in China is rushed and built on extremely right budget and only 30% of it malfunctions. At this rate 90% of our shit on jobs like this will self implode.

lol look at this triggered trumpster snowflake :)

>Some chink contractor has been assigned. Its the only plausible reason.

Who do you blame for then?. The Chink that got the job?.

Back in 1887, the "Hot Metal Bridge" was built in Pittsburgh. That bridge is STILL IN USE today.

You telling me that with all the brains and technology, and permits and inspections and committee meetings and ISO and CE requirements this POS bridge fell down the day after they put it up?

You guys ever wonder what is wrong with the world today? That is what is wrong with the world today.

No one got a "permit" in 1887. They just built a fuckin' bridge that wasn't gonna fall down, like, ever.

Jesus, the "smarter" this world gets, the stupider it becomes.

i seriously doubt it was an engineering fault, that's about the most simple bridge you can possibly design; You would almost have to be a retarded to fuck something up that bad from an engineering standpoint

>that's about the most simple bridge you can possibly design

uhh. Simplest brige you can design is probably a wooden plank over two cinder blocks.

This thread started off well

don't be a faggot

Told you a chinese construction contract has been made. This is why we should never let chinks build anything in our country.

I see this kind of shit all the time in my business. The more regulations that get imposed, the longer it takes to build something, and the shittier it gets - why? Because to change a design involves more regulation and requirements, which means most people want to avoid that. It's stupid. If you find a better way to do something in the middle of production, just do it. Make it better - but nooooooooo, government regulators are there to "protect" the public by making life more difficult for the men who build things, and then blame them when their own stupidity results in something like this happening. They make me sick and they all deserve to die and rot in hell forever. Thank you for your attention.

Prove me wrong, faggot. Hot Metal Bridge is still there.

Fight me.

No, I'm making a serious point here. If you wanted to do a simply quick connect of two areas and build a small bridge you would use wood. It is light enough to support it's own weight AND a person's weight (as long as it's not too long). They needed to make this bridge simpler. They should have just used less wood and made it less heavy. It was only for carrying people.

wasn't that bridge designed by an all woman team?

They built a 900 ton bridge to carry 150 lb. humans. There must be some fatties at FIT.

Some more assembly was required.

It was not finished and the tower and cables to support it not yet installed and no temporary supports and yet traffic and pedestrians were allowed under it.

FUCKED UP

Attached: ThatExplainsIt.jpg (580x680, 66K)

probably still better than having americans build it.

Assembled in the u.s.a.

real life isn't the same as polybridge you dumb bitch

>real life isn't the same as polybridge you dumb bitch

Anyone ever tell you you deserve to be a radio host?

I don't wanna bust your bubble but China already invented domino

As a true american patriot you never say anything positive about other nations. Especially not chinks you just look at the news everyday some chinkshit collapses explodes or malfunctioned. They are useless i really doubt they can assemble my mobiles because it still has not killed me by battery explosion.

Yeah. I want to know how he's doing.

AHHHHH

You most either work for or are an FIU paid operative on damage control.

The rats are scattering, FDOT is already distancing themselves from the colossal stupidity of allowing traffic and pedestrians under an unfinished span.

SO STUPID!

And it would have cost 90% less
>OVERPAID UNION LABORERS

So let me get this straight. It was designed by women and built by minority scabs and it fell down go boom.

Shrugs

If a bridge falls down on a highway and everybody sees it, is it the sound of one hand clapping after the horse has bolted?

Blue progress was coming to red fly over except.....Enter TRUMP

The bridge collapsed because, untill they had put the correct tension on the supports that would hold the bridge up, there should have been 2 supporting structures underneath the bridge to hold it up. These were not put in place, to save time and money, and the bridge collapsed. That is the official explanation as given by a team of forensic construction engineers

Fuckin Bunjee jumpers get everywhere

Are those people on the top left of the bridge?

the tower and cables were decorative, not functional.

someone made a thread the other day with a pic of all of the women that made the bridge. he said they were diversity hires and had a bunch of quotes from them basically saying shit like "about time women build bridges", "bridges are better when made by a diverse group of people" etc.

Attached: 1519820237606.jpg (530x637, 86K)

Florida doesn't have labor unions, faggot.

Clearly wrong, the concrete diagonals as a part of what collapsed are at the same angle as the cables not yet installed. Each one is a different angle to exactly align with the future cables (which is done for engineering reasons).

Yes, VSL employee applying additional tensioning under direction of the Engineer to a structural rod at the exact spot of the failure.

Gee, lets apply more force to an already overstressed structural element because the bridge is not yet supported by the cables.

Women should not be engineers. Their minds are wired wrong.

Funny this shit will happen more often with the feminism on top.

It don't fly so good.

Is this also an example of the results of Globalism?

If thats the reason, then its the more stupid logic i heard since if they know that the posibility of disrupt the traffic with hundred of tons of concrete is posible to happen then why dont just fucking disrupt it safely, well i think feminism did it again.

This is what 950 tons of concrete does to a car with people in it. They had to take the car away, covered in a blue tarp and extract what remained of the occupant with tweezers and tooth picks.

One of the vehicles was a jeep with a roll bar.

Didn't help.

they didn't test jack shit
They were changing the tension of one of the pretensioned struts, because they changed the way the bridge temporarily supported (until the cables would be done)
Problem is that they tensioned it a little too much and the strut snapped. Miliseconds later, the whole bridge followed.

The 174' span wad designed to not need the cable stays, it met LRFD strength criteria on its own. The cable-stay was mostly for aesthetics and to help with natural frequency.

So what's with the animal paw print at the step numbers?

Are we to take them seriously?

This was the MCM/FIGG proposal to win the project. Firms will often pepper in little things, such as the paw, in hopes it gives them a slight advantage when it comes to proposal grading.

"Oh look, this firm used the FIU Roary the Panther paw throughout their proposal!"

Isn't something terrible wrong when a single tensioning rod fails and it results in a catastrophic progressive collapse of the entire structure?

What happened to redundancy and safety factors.

Or is that a Guy thing?

So prioritizing paw prints over sound solid Engineering processes.

Check

"Roary the Panther"

How fucking gay is that.

Its the diversity bridge lol

Kek, it's a few dead ameritards, wheres the problem?

Labor unions are in all 50 states troll

Opps

this is the state of our educational system (science !). Where gender issues, affirmative action and socialism are most important.

Because white men never ruined a bridge.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_Bridge#First_design_and_collapse_of_August_29,_1907

and a thousand more.

It's got nothing to do with their gender or race. A mistake was made.

>is it a bridge at all?
Well it sure as fuk isn't a chocolate doughnut.

"Artistic touch and were able to build too"

Might want to add "Sound Engineering"

Just saying

>a mistake was made
Affirmative action?

Affirmative action is a mistake, but I was talking about the bridge, either in design, execution, or materials.

Were is the 5 step were the bridge gets fucked up?.

it accelerated towards the ground

>How the fuck do you even misspell oops

Womyn stronk design rushing concrete cure cracks result minorities out to 3 martini lunch post tension without hang weight wewlad that's a lot o dust down there....
