Making mine OP, I recognize The Red Shoes, Lady from Shanghai, Shanghai Express, Bringing Up Baby and Detour, what are the rest?

Not Red Shoes, Hoffmann surely?

here ya go

what did he mean by this?
nice

What's the centre one? And top left and bottom?

night of the hunter
arrebato
The third man

I feel like I'd lose a lot of time if I really got into these type of vidya, but they sure look comfy

middle is indeed the red shoes

top middle - the death of Louis XIV (just saw it in theaters and fell in love with it, such a hard character for JPL to play and Serra makes everything look impeccable)

middle left is Murder, My Sweet
bottom left is My Favorite Wife
bottom mid is All That Heaven Allows

Night of the Hunter is pretty fantastic, so is Third Man
You've seen anything by Welles?

...

>You've seen anything by Welles?

Yeah, F for fake is my favorite.

I really like touch of evil but i feel like it has some dragging scenes that really puts it down (the motel)

Thanks.

...

I prefer his 40's work, despite how much Hollywood tried to hold him down.

>Yeah, F for fake is my favorite

Do you like Chris Marker?

4/5
What are top left, bottom left and bottom mid pls?

haven't seen anything by him, have had La jetée and Sans soleil on my watch list for quite a while, should probably get on that

That's a big 3×3

great taste itt

I don't know any of these titles. Help me please.

Yeah...
He's definitely one of the most interesting left bank film makers and Sans Soleil is quite the experience.
Can't recommend Erice enough, he only has three films but they're all equally mesmerizing.

1/1 I really liked letters from a dead man, didn't like visitor quite as much but it's still a good film

top left is boogie nights
bottom left is blade runner
bottom mid is magnolia

city of pirates
the little mermaid (kachnya)
narcissus and psyche

visitor to a museum
the eve of ivan kupala
clone returns home

nazareno cruz and the wolf
the death of maria malibran
pirosmani

i think you meant to reply to me
i actually thought visitor to a museum was a lot more human than letters from a dead man
and just a lot more visually expressive, which says a lot considering letters is a visual marvel

I've been meaning to check out Ruiz for a while now, don't know about the others

I guess I'll have to rewatch some Lopushansky

Alrighty then

Titles?
Man with a movie camera is great tho

You crashed this thread, with no survivors.

Thanks, you like other films from PTA?

Yeah, I really like pretty much all of his films

Thanks, I appreciate it.

no problem!
heh start with hypothesis of a stolen painting

Sup Forumscore

hello fellow patrician

I saw Rousseau's Les Antiquites de Rome recently, it was amazing, don't know if i liked it more than La Valle Closee but I loved it.

also saw O Ultimo Mergulho from Monteiro, great stuff, my favorite Monteiro so far, followed by A Flor do Mar
still haven't seen Come and Go
I can see why you love Silvestre, it's marvelous and was my favorite Monteiro film for a while
I'd describe it as nothing less than magical

great stuff

also i'm going to see City of pirates on 35mm in NY! very excited

>muh obscure flicks

let people like what they like

la vallee closee is one of my favorite experimental films together with quick billy, I can't really explain why but I think it's because they both remind me of how much you can do with the medium of film with so little, they're like the film equivalent of joyce's stream of consciousness

A flor do mar is my favorite too. There's 2 types of monteiro, the one from silvestre and a flor do mar an the one of god's comedy and come and go, I prefer the first, probably because when I watched them I didnt get all the obscure hegelian references...

cool user, I'm jelly, we don't get much of that over here

I highly recommend Twice a Man and From the notebook of...
if you haven't seen them
also the work (particularly from the 90's) of Guerín

Yeah I love Robert Walser with my soul but still couldn't really get into Branca de Neve, still love Monteiro though.

>cool user, I'm jelly, we don't get much of that over here
Well I'm not from the US either, but I'm flying to see it because I really can't miss that.

>when the /lbg/ kids( the usual suspects) are feeling uppity
You just have to stretch your eyes a bit and see past the bullshit. Everytime it happens, by the way. Or don't, of course.

love from the notebook of! that film is so weird reminds me of a film version of renaissance painter paolo uccello

I think i forgot twice a man lol I'll watch it again. Guerin, I absolutely despised in the city of sylvia, en construccion was actually fun, never felt compelled to watch train of shadows, what do you rec?

I just recently put jakob von gunten in my short-list I expect it to be very good. Just getting thorugh krasznahorkai's melancholy of resistance

never posted in a lbg thread in the 4 years ive been here, it's a nice and polite conversation

Innisfree and Train of shadows (this one's my favorite film)

I recently saw la vie réelle: sans défense and had to go back and re read of all Weil's work lol

very interesting comparison between uccello and the beavers film, guess you could compare it to Twice a man too
