Artists first album was their best album

>artists first album was their best album

>artists last album was their best album
When has this ever happened?

The Mars Volta

Gastr del Sol

The Serpentine Similar and Upgrade and Afterlife are better than Camofleur

>artist gets progressively less interesting with each new album

These are both tropes of pop music. If most of what you listen to follows this trend, re-evaluate your life

Tyler The Creator
Earl Sweatshirt

>pop music is inherently bad
Nice meme

Liars

not really that doesn't even apply to big popstars today
>Beyonce
>Gaga (Overall The FILLER is not good, the fame monster is)
>Rihanna
>Katy Perry
>Miley Cyrus
>Ariana Grande
>Justin Bieber
>Britney Spears
and on and on......

no

Unwound
Nick Drake
Talk Talk
Beatles if you count Abbey Road

>artist improves his songwriting skills over time but also become progressively less interesting

Pop as in pop in which the people playing the music are also the writers. Manufactured pop doesn't really count seen as you can't account their career to one person/group of people

The cure

>if you count Abbey Road
I do not

Gorillaz

Neutral Milk Hotel
Noname
Young Marble Giants
Tyler, the Creator

radiohead

Fugazi.

Don't try to deny it.

MF DOOM
Wu-Tang

Neutral Milk Hotel

Uncle Acid

Tbh The Night Creeper isn't that bad but Mind Control is just a bunch of forgettable filler

Death Grips.
I am not counting DG EP. Exmilitary is their first and best.

Joy Division

Every single pop artist you named there is trash.

>every album in their discography is better than the one before
How can one band be so based

>Tyler the Creator
is he quitting music?

bowie

...

Sex pistols

Childish Gambino, if he keeps his word about quitting music for good.

>FIDLAR
>Mac Demarco
>Crystal Castles

Lots of indie shit end up doing something interesting in the first album then watering it down with each consecutive album.

This. So disappointing that band. Bllood Lust was instant classic tier and the rest just sounds boring to me.

In Utero

This is almost the tragic, universal rule of artists

Crystal Castles II and III were on a level with I, I don't see them as inferior or superior.

Amnesty is Ethan's first misstep but is forgivable seeing as it produced my favourite tune of theirs, Concrete.

Talking Heads

Tonic?

at least woman was ok

Jeff Buckley......Kek

...

Room on Fire was worlds apart an you know it.

blood lust wasn't their first album though

This so much this.

Best example. The first album was experimental and fun and then once they found out that it could be profitable they sucked out all of the entertainment value to make it a full-time, "serious" project. There is zero joy in it anymore.

Interpol

No.
Sadly so. I tried to give those a listen, but nothing stuck like that album did.
