Just use a sculptor program. 3d modelling is more of a professional cartoon/video game genre than what you're probably thinking about.

Your best bet is to start out with a already rigged body doll template. Hell, get design doll and easy-export a body template from that. The models are almost fully customizable and they're rigged with a standard skeleton, nothing with anatomically correct restrictions tho.
Don't make the mistake i did and try to build a model from scratch...in full detail.

Make sure you start small when going after any game development project, get the basics in before doing anything complex, and is amazing advice, because you aren't going for the "doing it right" award, you are going for the "get it done" achievement. When it comes to making and editing models, a niche resource you may find useful is the SFM community. they have a lot of tools for new people to use, steal, or rig models ETC. and its pretty simple for them, and you can apply it to whatever program you are using.

Pretty much, but they have the most experience with ripping and flipping 3d models, and most of them are amateurs so its the best way to get into it if you are looking to use someone elses 3d model AFAIK. I am not a 3d modeller though, just a game developer, so I cant really offer any advice beyond a point in a direction that might help.

Like no just no end in sight on the far side, but a straight line of the earth just ending and the two long lines of people coming from a far distance where the curvature from the earth makes them fade from sight in the distance.
