I went to church for the first time one month ago today, for a Vespers service. On the 19th, my priest is going to induct me as a catachumen. And then it's a year until I'm a full member of the Orthodox faith. Thanks, /csg/.
Idk lads. Maybe we should build mosques. You know, progressive. t. not a swede

Whenever I turn my mind towards religion, I'm bombarded by blasphemous thoughts. Like seriously disgusting blasphemy. Always make me give up..
Is this normal? Is it demons?
Benjamin Brown
Could be. He works hard to turn you away from God via a lot of sins.
What are some of the thoughts you have, user?
Xavier Green
I'm gunna get rekt at my first confession. >what have you done since your last confession This is my first confession. You need to tell everyone else to come back next week.
Xavier Baker
Does it call to you the way /d/ calls to me? You have to stay strong, user.
Isaiah Lopez
yes, ask for mercy, the Lord is the only one who can wash out our sins, and start walking in the light
Matthew Davis
What will converting to Catholocism do for me? I am extremely depressed and have no reason to live, I am poor and unemployed.
Juan Martin
Honestly, priests hear a lot of fucked up things. Don't worry about letting it all out, he's there to help you. Confess any major sins you can remember and then just ask for forgiveness of those that you can't remember.
That's all you need to do. God bless, brother.
Adam Reed
don't worry user. There's nothing you can possibly say during confession that a priest has never heard before. Afterwards you will feel amazingly better, knowing those sins have been forgiven by Our Lord.
Owen Hall
it will do pic related.
Thomas Nelson
Doesn't your Baptism take care of pre-Christian sins?
Charles Price
but it will also do pic related. God helps and protects his flock. He will give you sanctifying grace if you start walking with, but Christianity isn't a magic recipe for being happy, at least not in the normie meaning of the word. Either way you should speak to a priest first, he will be able to guide you through the phases necessary for conversion and to understand the doctrine of the faith.
William Powell
Thank you, user. Another question: being raised in a liberal brainwashing state, people have convinced me that Jesus was, essentially, this spineless male who was all about peace and love and would be a socialist SJW type. As if he was a one dimensional cartoon guy. What do you think about thi? Did Jesus have any balls?
Colton Morgan
yes, it washes away sins committed before baptism
Andrew Garcia
Think about it this way. Jesus is literally God. He came on earth for the sole purpose of being spat on, tortured and killed by ungrateful kikes, so that we could share eternal life and dwell in his glory in heaven. If you were God, would you do that? Subject yourself to pain and death for humans? I think that alone takes ball of titanium. Also people forget that the God of the OT is Jesus too. He came first as a merciful saviour, but in his second coming he will be a sever judge. He will condemn all the unbelievers and the sinners to the fires of hell. Edgy people on all sides of the spectrum will find out to a dear price how "spineless" Jesus is. Buddy Jesus is a misconception of people who have abandoned the faith and therefore analyse Jesus separating him from his mission, his divine nature and his intervention throughout human history.
Ethan Gonzalez
I'm self employed, affluent and suffer from depression. You can be Catholic or Orthodox and feel part of something very beautiful. Unity or something. It's cosy. Religion means something again. You're part of something greater. You don't need to believe. God is in the people. Okay that's probably not Christian or Catholic. So nice though. Unity.
Chase Gomez
about losing your salvation
> God’s gifts and calling can’t be taken back.
you can reject them tho
Andrew Harris
*and let us dwell
Easton Long
His gifts and his call come from Jesus though. Of course a sinner keeps being called by Him until death. About gifts: you can be baptised and reject the faith, the gift remains, you don't have to baptise again. Get what I mean? So I don't think that is a good refutation.
Luis Morgan
Has the Lord cursed Richard Dawkins too madness?
Ayden Thompson
I've heard from some Catholic converts online that it gives them a will to live because they have a new found purpose. I don't mean this in a way that it would be an easy transition/life, but you will feel more at peace as you grow in faith (especially if you improve your prayer life).
God bless.
Brandon Lewis
Oh my
Is that true?
sources?
Dylan Miller
the only way to lose your salvation is to reject God it's hard if you are baptised in adulthood to reject him, it was your choice, that's a problem with baptising babies
Aaron Roberts
That swan was clearly a Protestant Muslim. Dawkins is doing what Catholic scientists have always done. He has come around to the threat we face currently. He is a lad.
Leo Martin
No the last one is a joke based on him saying more and more ridiculous things on social media
Anthony Barnes
Thank you user. I am screencapping all of your words to reflect further. I am at a difficult time in my life right now. I am living and in a relationship with a Muslim Bosnian woman and we just had a son. I don't think that she is the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. I am uncertain of the future. She supports me for the most part. I want to live nearby so I can raise my son, convert to Catholicism and raise him as a Catholic as well. This is going to be tough over the next year or two.
James Cruz
Richard Dawkins is going to embrace religion towards the end of his life.
Connor Rodriguez
>the only way to lose your salvation is to reject God Rejecting wrong means you disobey him. For example if the Catholic Church is true and you are not part of it, you are partially disobeying God and therefore rejecting him. >it's hard if you are baptised in adulthood to reject him Come on, plenty of people who do. Also if they die unbaptised it's a very big problem for them. Who knows how many souls have been lost because of this. Baptism is so that the soul is saved even though you die as a child. What you try to do with baptism, we do with confirmation: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation
Lucas Torres
Christ said follow him not the church, Christ is what saves us, not the church, if the church helps you to be closer with Jesus, go to it, but you arent saved by going to the church. Baptism doesnt save you, you do it cus you have faith in Christ, that faith saves you
Hunter Hill
What matters is that you raise the child. The rest is more compliated and I don't think I have the expertise to give good advice. Wish you the best brother, God bless you
We need him to not. He's a firebrand. We've always needed firebrands. Well, maybe not Luther to create a schism that divided Christianity and Europe and cost millions of lives for centuries.. A biologist professor and meme master is fine though. He's admitted Christianity is a bulwark against something much more insidious.
Austin Robinson
Where do you think you are?
Hunter Taylor
Following Jesus becomes an empty word if you don't define exactly how to follow him. The purpose of a unified Church with a structure, with sacraments, with apostolic succession is exactly that. God is absolute truth, there is only truth in Him. He would never accept that members of his Church have conflicting views about the Truth that is in Him. This is what I think you fail to understand. Yes, those who believe are the Church, but believing entails also following the Way, the Truth and the Life to perfection. That is why the Catholic Church is the way it is. The deposit of the Faith is preserved from error and by adhering to it, you adhere to the fullness of Truth. That is why Catholics say that protestant denominations are in "partial communion" with Rome, in the sense that they have partial truth, but not the fullness of it. We cannot say that you are destined to hell, but because of this reality your chances get much slimmer. The gate is narrow for Catholics too, you know? Most Catholics go to hell too even though we have the fullness of truth. The gate is very very very very narrow. >Baptism doesnt save you It does, we are suppoed to be born of water and Spirit. >that faith saves you The faith pushes you to be part of the Church and get the Sacraments though. I guess this way you could explain the necessity of works. Think about it....if God gave us the sacraments as a gift, aren't they nonetheless works? If you reject them, aren't you showing a lack of faith in Christ? The answer is yes. That is the big problem for you if you are wrong user.

you keep saying that the church is the way, it isnt, Christ is the way. im not saying that the church is bad, you can be guided in the begining of your faith by study groups and feel part of it, but just to get closer to Jesus
sacraments are traditions, they do not save you, accepting Jesus sacrifice saves you
Praying in a community setting in church really helps, mate. Were you originally Catholic?
Parker Ramirez
>you keep saying that the church is the way, it isnt, Christ is the way The point is that the Church preserves the right way to follow Christ. Do you understand what I mean? Jesus is the way, but what if you take the wrong way without noticing? The Church is there for this. > but just to get closer to Jesus I try to get closer to Jesus day after day
The sacraments can be found in Scripture btw: Baptism – John 3:5, Matthew 28:18-19 Confirmation – Acts 8:14-17 Reconciliation / Confession – John 20:21-23 The Eucharist – Matthew 26:26-28, John 6:53-55 Matrimony – Matthew 19:5-6 Holy Orders – Titus 1:5 Sacrament of the Sick – James 5:14-15
Either way Tradition is a real thing, it is not man-made invention. In fact these so called "man-made" invention, for some reason, are 95% the same among Churches that go from Rome, to Ethiopia, to India, places that had no contact with each other but developed an almost identical Sacred Tradition. That is because they had apostolic succession as an apostle went there to preach and build churches. Men-made inventions wouldn't have that level of coherence.

Nope. John 3:36 The second word used here means "disobey". Scripture clearly tell us pretty much everywhere that to believe means to have faith and do the will of the Lord. Believing without obeying His commandments is an empty and therefore dead faith. >you can be the black sheep of your family, but you are still part of the family wut? No. There are no black sheeps in heaven.

Recently started getting interested in religion again I was raised a baptist but the whole Protestant "jesus rock band" and "appeal to the youth with new age christian memes" is really turning me off I have been extremely interested in attending mass at the local Catholic church because it seems alot more mature, and just all around more spiritual Any tips for a christian leaning towards becoming catholic? Would i even be able to attend mass? Any pointers in general would be welcome

If you are looking for a spiritural experience attend a latin mass, not the Novus Ordo. Look for FSSP (not SSPX, they are not in communion with Rome) Complimentary chant: youtube.com/watch?v=OgOitVtAgXA >Any tips for a christian leaning towards becoming catholic? Speak to a priest. In the meanwhile learn how to pray the Rosary >Would i even be able to attend mass? Yes, absolutely, just don't take the eucharist.
