the shining

Kubrick's Shining

shining is good movie
but bad adaptation
not the worst though

The Shining
It gets a pass because muh kubreck, but its the most boring fucking shit ever filmed

I loved it as a kid but its pretty bad. Maybe this or Maximum Overdrive

>it's an "autists try way too hard with way too obvious bait" thread

The Dark Tower

The langoliers

...

Every fucking Kubrick movie is.
It's like going to the zoo to see a cool animal and it's asleep.

there's a lot of shit ones but the bag of bones miniseries with pierce brosnan was hilariously shit

Itt: plebs

>doesn't like to see wildlife being pleasant

youtube.com/watch?v=3LNvXjb44-U

lolgolier

When are they going to adapt the most kino King book?

Golden Years might be the absolute worst
Desperation might be the second worst
The Tommyknockers stinks
Riding the Bullet is shit

They already did, it's called The Hunger Games.

Why don't you wake them? Throw shit on them or make noises. They are there to entertain you and you have every right to watch them do animal activity as a paying customer.

seems like it would be pretty cheap to film

Why does a good adaptation have to be a perfect reacreation of it's source material? I prefer an adaptation that does it's own thing (assuming it does it well). It means each version of the story gives you a unique experience.

t. Sony shill

Dark Tower is shit, we see it coming out of your asshole.

What did he mean by this?

Worst CGI-laden garbage ever. It's less like a movie and more like a "spooky" ride in a theme park for kids.

Don't get me wrong. That shit's just lazy pandering, and doesn't alter the material in any way interesting.

I just do not understand that what kind of rainbow land do these people live in?

Trump may be annoying but he has a couple of good points. You can't really run a country on imaginary money and expect everyone to be happy.

>any of King's work would make a good adaptation

He's a hack. Not sure how even he got as far as he did when all of his stories are retarded. Well, except The Mist.

Suffered through it just to test myself once, can confirm.

His stories are fun retarded.

I liked how the mood was very unnerving for the whole duration of the miniseries, and then the mystical creatures of death and mystery are showed on camera and they look corny as shit, completely and utterly ruining everything

the stand
pet semetary
langoliers
the shining
probably dark tower

I was like 8 when I saw it, and I thought they were awesome looking.

black lives water

>pet semetary

You're a fucking faggot and I hope you get killed.

Stranger Things

Hes basically a senile hack at this point

>I prefer an adaptation that does it's own thing

Good thing everyone isn't you huh

>JACK, I'M HORNY GET IN HERE AND GIVE ME A GOOD FUCKIN!

>Trump may be annoying but he has a couple of good points. You can't really run a country on imaginary money and expect everyone to be happy.

Are you clinically retarded? Trump intends to run up the national debt at a rate never seen in history. Look at his proposed budget and tax plan.

Who cares. We can just bomb China if they ask for their money back. And European debt is a complete non-issue.

Do you think China will lend you the money for the bombs?

How silly do the Children of the Corn sequels get? Fourth one actually sounds pretty interesting but I found the first one pretty enjoyable.

delete that

...

I'm a big fan of King novels but I never got the love for the dark tower series.

I really struggled through the first book and dropped it altogether halfway through the second one. Just found it really badly written, the gunslinger guy had no personality and the story was tedious as hell.

Answering the question at hand though I'm gonna say Dreamcatcher. The book was also shit though to be fair.

Senpai. The book was great. One of my favorites by King. The film adaption was fucking awful.

Omg what happened to her?

But it wasn't, and it's also one of my favorite novels. The only thing the movie fucked up was not including Judd's wife and the final scene. Other than that it's one of the best horror films of the 80's.

She posted on /x/ ONCE.

Age and genetics, senpai. Entropy is a bitch.

They'll just "borrow", aka steal, from social security. That's where most of the national debt is.

Then they'll call the people who spent 40 years paying into it dead beats and entitled when they complain.

Please. No wendigo, Baterman is ev0l instead of just creepy, too much Victor Pascow.

It's not very good, bro.

That one with the mom and son that turn into cats.

They did alter the material all to hell, they had a synopsis leak, it sounds fucking terrible

SCARING THE LITTLE GIRL???

I can't vouch for the book because I don't read Stephen King, but I actually liked Dreamcatcher. It's been ages since I've seen it though.

I didn't think the book was that bad. I don't remember ever seeing the movie.

LeafBlower Man

Probably this

She got out of the tub

I mean, granted it was a kinda weird. I don't even remember where the ayy lmaos or mutants or whatever they were came from. I just remember you develop terrible farts and eventually shit your brains out until you shit the spikey worm thingy out and die. Maybe my outdated memory is why I don't mind it.

I dunno, it was a random movie I saw as a kid and I liked it.

They were aliens. It's really kind of Alien only instead of chestbursters they come out your ass, which actually makes more sense if you think about it.

Yeah, not sure why Alien decided to burst through the only real natural armor humans have instead of, I dunno, right back up the esophagus and our your mouth or ripping off your head or something.

Not technically applicable, but how terrible is this movie?

King got a lot o flack for the ass weasels, but to me it's a good horror thing. There's a reason parasites are horrific and the idea of something eating you from the inside out is offputting to say the least.

Don't tell me the idea of looking down in the bowl and seeing a huge fucking worm crawling in there doesn't make your insides roil a bit.

Far and away the worst movie I've watched this year. It's bad in a way that doesn't even allow it to be fun. Total incompetence on display.

yeah, they should have never showed the creatures

I know right

Ding Ding Ding. The only decent adaptations of any of Steven King's shitty books and stories are the ones that took the basic idea and chucked the rest. 'cause Steven King is a shitty writer whose output is meant to be read by middle schoolers and intellectually challenged adults.

Trey Parker was pretty good in that.

This post is brilliant. Went right over that guys head.

Clearly

Maximum Overdrive is fucking great. So much fun. Lightning in a bottle.

I just watched this and honestly it's definitely one of the better ones. There's some fantastic acting going on in it at least.

Did Bronson Pinchot win any Emmys for that?

I liked the langoliers.

>fucking balki

"The Shining is a good movie but not a good Stephen King movie."

Literally kino and Emilio Estevez' best work after Mighty Ducks 1 and 2.

Kind of unfair to compare low budget TV shit to actual film adaptions though, desu.

It's funny how "millennials" or whatever you call em think that "It" and "The Langoliers" are anything other than hot garbage because they saw them as children.

Graveyard Shift

Bad adaptation wise, I'd say the shining, but ironically that's the only adaptation of his books I think is better than the book.

Misery is a great adaptation, but the movie isn't as intense, the situation feels less dire.

Probably the best adaptation would be Carrie, Christine or cujo, because they were pretty short books anyway, so the movies are pretty much the books on screen with nothing cut out.

Damn 80s posters were so cosy.

> that's the only adaptation of his books I think is better than the book

It really isn't. The Kubrick meme needs to stop.

Nostalgia is a hell of a thing. Personally I don't think Stephen King's horror holds up when rewatched as an adult. Misery could be the one exception just based on the material but I haven't rewatched it recently.

The Shining where the actor from Wings plays Jack Nicholsons character is the worst one.

The book was shit

Hunger Games

>inb4 plebs not understanding what I mean

He's dead, bro. He can't feel you sucking his cock.

>Don't tell me the idea of looking down in the bowl and seeing a huge fucking worm crawling in there doesn't make your insides roil a bit.
It literally would desu senpai

Porntopia

Duma Key movie when? That book is so underrated.

The book WAS shit.

I was excited to see it had an adaption as it was the first king story i read, what a horrible fucking mess

Uh huh.
