Shit alien design tbqh family

shit alien design tbqh family

The film is worthless pleb bait. Villenueve is just another pre-assembled meme age "auteur" for the uneducated middlebrow to salivate over.

This movie wasn't intended for you

Do you just want attention bc you're spoiling what they look like? I think that's the case. Have a You.

The design was interesting and used to great effect.

It was intended for video game playing 18 year olds who think they're "into cinema" because they watch the movies that get highly rated on rotten tomatoes.

Shut up! You're a meme!!

You sound upset about something

And are you "into cinema," user?

source?

Last time I ever listen to rotten tomatoes.

What a shit movie

I've moved beyond enjoying it long ago. Once you reach a certain level of sophistication all you can see is the mechnical pandering. I haven't liked a film since I was a teenager and even the ones I used to enjoy, I can now see for what they are.

I'm 29 too before you try to go for some cheap joke.

33 here, about time to move onto post-irony amigo.

Waiter, this pasta is overcooked and too salty. And I ordered a salad anyway

>I haven't liked a film since I was a teenager and even the ones I used to enjoy, I can now see for what they are.

Translation: I'm a bitter, depressed, and condescending virgin who can't enjoy anything

Posting this to r/JustNeckbeardThings

>Translation: I'm a bitter, depressed, and condescending virgin who can't enjoy anything
I'm not a virgin but the rest is accurate, and there is nothing wrong with that, it's the end point for any cinematic journey. Unless of course you give up, become complacent and wallow in the pandering.

>Design

Its literally what the aliens will look like when we have our first public first encounter

this movie was to prepare us

They weren't aliens they came from another dimension

Is that aarival camrip? where_

But this movie has almost no "action" in it

Which is why it lets them feel super smart and superior to the "lower" cinema viewers.

>I'm 29
DOUBT

Unless you're some crossposting tourist you won't ever leave here. So who are you kidding? There is no switch that suddenly flips in your mid 20s that makes you become part of regular society.

*nods respectfully towards you*

these meme auteurs will never learn, am I right m'sir?

this guy gets it. He's actually into cinema unlike most people. I'm sure he has an exquisite letterboxd portfolio and has done some awesome things in the industry

>Which is why it lets them feel super smart and superior
That's funny because it's exactly what you're doing right now.

>vlcsnap
>using vlc in literally 2k17

Got a link to a camrip?

I agree. They are literally squids.

Funny thing though. I was watching the deep sea episode of Planet Earth a while ago and I remember thinking, "These creatures down here look more "alien" than anything I've seen on television or in movies.

This design is shit too but the moive as good

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying your posts don't indicate the emotional maturity of a 29 year old. They convey the impression of someone who still has a lot of brain development left before maturing fully. Someone who's most likely college aged.

Fuck me

>Someone who's most likely college aged.
I didn't go to college, I went to Sup Forums.

I kinda imagine cynicism like this as shit.
So imagine if you were covered in shit.

I suppose there's nothign wrong with that. But don't sit next to me. And don't expect anyone to want you.

There's nothing good in this life. To think otherwise is self deceit.

ayy

these fuckers would scare me

But wouldn't video game obsessed teens just want an action movie? That's the part I'm confused on why you said it

Really they look like dollar store rubber aliens

>But wouldn't video game obsessed teens just want an action movie?
Not necessarily. Entry level IMDBcore has two main flavors. "fun" and "makes you think". They'll watch Dredd for "fun". Villenueve for "makes you think".

why haven't you killed yourself if you accept this?

*tips fedora*

I can't wait for it to be the current year plus an additional current year.

I thought it was pretty cool tbqh family

I think you will find they are Demons user.

nice buzzwords brah

Because I am not strong enough.

How do they fly their UFO?

>tfw I'm a big fan of Dennis but really didn't like this movie (and for some pretty valid reasons desu) but unfortunately I won't be able to discuss that since there was one pretentious user who decided to derail the thread with his exaggerated cynicism and now I'll just look like I'm shitposting if I don't agree that this is the best sci-fi movie in generations

Probably have these little faggots chauffeur them.

Almost makes you wonder if the "exaggerated cynicism" was a false flag planted by the film buff brigade to stymie any words of dissent about this film.

Yes you are! You can do it! I believe in you!! :)))

Well I didn't like it. I'd give it a 5 or 6 out of ten purely based on the fact that I appreciate it not being the same cookie cutter capeshit that gets churned out every 2 weeks.

Having said that, it fails on almost every other level as a movie desu

that doesn't make sense

that implies that your implied weakness has some comfort to it, hence there is something good to life

>I appreciate it not being the same cookie cutter capeshit
It was no better, lets face it. Don't fall for the hollywood "Prestige" picture meme.

Where did you get that fucking picture from?

When will we get a mainstream science fiction movie that doesn't feel like it was made for Neil Degrasse Tyson worshipping nu-males? Arrival sucked but The Martian was one of the worst things I have ever seen.

I didn't say it was much better, I just said that I appreciated it deviated from the strict formula they seem to use for nearly every single big release.

I'm actually convinced there's a blockbuster machine in Hollywood which "screenwriters" just feed black pages into and watch it shit out a "story".

So I guess I'm saying I like that this movie at least feels like someone physically wrote and made it. However, unfortunately if you were to judge everyone involved in this solely off this piece alone, the only logical conclusion to draw is that they're all hacks of the highest order. Other than the brownie points for trying, this movie is a complete and utter mess and is actually very surface level in terms of its themes and messages.

And yeah I'm already fully aware that anons are just gonna say that I didn't get it. I got it. It's just shit desu

Now go back and watch Villenfraud's other films with the realization you made while watching Arrival in mind. He has been shitmaster supreme the whole time.

If I thought sicario was kino will I like this movie?

This film was Nolantier to be honest. After the words ARRIVAL appeared onscreen at the end and we were clearly supposed to be bowled over, still not having come to terms with the majestic art we had just witnessed, I stood up and started clapping ironically as loud as I could and shouted the words "10/10 reddit kino" at the top of my voice.

interstellar

Nah I disagree. I don't think he's some revolutionary pioneer on the cusp of changing the industry or anything... But he is above Arrival.

Prisoners, Enemy and Incendies all have rightful places being praised within their own genres (probably Enemy a bit less so, but I guess that's personal bias creeping into the conversation). Sicario is not on as high a level either, but he compensates by it looking the best out of all his works. Del Toro was captivating too for me. I enjoyed Maelstrom for what it was, even if it comes across as a bit pretentious itself. However, I think that given the day and age we live in that movie is hard to watch and have it not give that impression. It just feels like the sort of trash some numale hipster would make next week, but to be fair to it, it was made almost 17 years ago so you really shouldn't view it in that mindset.

And I actually haven't checked out polytechnique yet. So I can't comment.

I standby that Arrival is garbage though. Especially compared to the rest of his filmography. Not being a contrarian.

I think Arrival did the "emotional human story" angle better than Interstellar. I also think Interstellar was great though.

Prisoners is a pretty shit film if you look past the cinematography and Dano's performance. It is IMDB cinema in the worst meaning of the term. Only reason anybody gave a shit about it were the technical aspects and the "DARK THEMES" that resonate with teenagers.

HAVE THE JAPS DONE TENTACLE PORN WITH THESE THINGS AND AMY ADAMS YET

Both films failed completely on the "emotional" "human" level. I had a better time watching Interstellar though since at least you could laugh at the wackier elements and I found more genuine awe in that film. Arrival just made me wish I was watching a better version of the movie. Very middle of the road.

I actually thought the performances were some of the weakest parts of the film honestly. Terence Howard's "acting" was laughable and lmao at wolverine crying scenes.

But I don't go on imdb and shit so I don't really know what you're on about there. I just liked it because it followed the conventions of a thriller well, whilst also subverting quite a few of your expectations.

Like I really felt like Dano was definitely going to be the main villain for the first hour or so of that film, and it wasn't until they kidnapped him that I started to think that something may be amiss.

I'll give you that the conflict between Jake and Hugh Jackman felt a little contrived, but I suppose they need something to stimulate tension..

Again, not a perfect movie. But I would still say that it's one of the better thrillers I've watched in the last 5 or 6 years.

I think Prisoners is a decent movie purely as entertainment schlock with better production values than the material deserves but if somebody implies that it's "powerful" or legitimately "great" study of morality that's worth taking seriously I know to disregard their opinion.

Also did you think Incendies was a funny film because when I figured out what the twist was going to be I couldn't stop laughing. No actual comedy movie can make me laugh but Incendies did.

This post made me think.

>The Arrival

i cant go into detail why

but i will let you know that i have an unending, and incredibly hatefueled rage towards this movie and all the people involved with it
i wish fucking death and hell upon them for making this piece of ultimate fucking crap and wasting so much money
i cant begin to describe how this movie makes me fucking feel and the mere fact it exists is a constant reminder of broken dreams and promises and things to come, i wish it had never been made and i wish it never even got thought of, this stupid fucking piece of shit worthless fucking movie
i cant fucking take it

you just described autism so

>i'm 29

so you're post-nuteen

You mean the brother/father thing? I thought it was a pretty peculiar choice that honestly shouldnt have worked in the movie for the reason you said. But having said that, its also one of the reasons incendies is my favourite film of his. Breath of fresh air in a way, I suppose.

See By now you should have seen the light of Lord Kek and gone full memetics.

Not in the near future except if a madman like Mel does it.
This is understandable from a business point of view. The TBBT regulars and the Ifuckinglovescience crowd are ready to shill your movie for free.

This is reddit, this is memes

>I'm actually convinced there's a blockbuster machine in Hollywood which "screenwriters" just feed black pages into and watch it shit out a "story".

You just described "Save the cat!", the manual every single hack in hollywood is using nowadays. Lindelof, Kurtzman, etc, etc.

Cutest aliens ever. I loved them.

Based Villeneuve has done it again, lads.

>Based Villeneuve has done it again, lads.
Made another shit film? Based Sup Forumsilleneue/v/e indeed.

Just rated it 10/10 on IMDB. How mad are you?

Are Enemy and Incendies good? I liked Sicario, Prisoners and Arrival.

>Abbot is death process
This line pissed me off because you can tell it was literally written to be a meme. Then all the reddit types can spam it everywhere and help promote the movie for free.

from what is that?

>Are Enemy and Incendies good?
No.
>I liked Sicario, Prisoners and Arrival.
But for the purposes of somebody like you, then "yes".

>that one turbo autist who derails every Villeneuve thread

right because the rest of >us are a

when you stop being depressed maybe you can enjoy life and leave your paranoia behind.

Here's some legit brilliant alien design.

You have serious fucking issues if you unironically think a Hollywood screenwriter specifically put a line in a film for the sole purpose of reddit quoting it.

This is what we've come to.

>You have serious fucking issues if you unironically think a Hollywood screenwriter specifically put a line in a film for the sole purpose of reddit quoting it.
Did you not watch The Martian?

What did he mean by this?

(the alien, I mean)

DID YOU NOT READ THE FUCKING BOOK IT WAS BASED ON, WORD FOR FUCKING WORD?!??!?!!?!

>DID YOU NOT READ THE FUCKING BOOK IT WAS BASED ON, WORD FOR FUCKING WORD?!??!?!!?!
No, and if it's anything like the movie I never will.

Those reddit lines were in the book. The book was written by a fucking redditor. You can't blame Hollywood screenwriters for that. They just adapted the source material

>You can't blame Hollywood screenwriters for that.
How about I am Groot or wouldst thou like to live deliciously or the entire deadpool movie.

ARRIVAL WAS VERY VAGINAL

CAN SEE MICHAEL MOORE BLUBBERING ABOUT HOW NO WOMAN EVER STARTED A WAR

AND THE MARTIAN HAD CHASTAIN SAVE THE DAY, LE STRONG INDEPENDENT CAPTAIN WHO DONT NEED NO MAN

WOMYN PROPAGANDA IS EVERYWHERE, FUNNY HOW IT DIDN'T WIN THEM THE ELECTION :^)

Creating creatures that look viable has never been Hollywood's strong point.

>Cloverfield
>Super 8
>Godzilla 2014
Is there a name of this category of meme design?

I liked Pacific Rim's kaijus
