You do realize we use lithium for other things.

Oh fuck is this what properly retarded people think?

Attached: 1423453861232.jpg (640x480, 71K)

Wrong oil comes from sucking arab dick

The lithium mine does not pollute air all over the world

why do the electric battery detractors always show the same desert strip mine and not the forested underground mine?

I work in the O&G industry and you're retarded.

Low quality bait. No one is this retarded

because the earth is flat

Its not even the right mine, its an Australian Iron mine.

You do realize that without petrochemicals the world would cease to function.

Shit is flat!

That's a copper mine and that isn't Alberta, do some research before you spread bullshit

>traps are not gay

Chuquicamata ( the mine in pic ) is located in the desert , there was nothing there before the mineral extraction began

you are making it sound like if the industry burnt a forest to make space for it when all they did was remove some cactus
t. chili

Pic is wrong.

As for the topic..
> affirmative action is a racist policy
> men and women have different strengths/weaknesses
> transgenders have an unstable mental illness
> genetic engineering is a positive thing
> the world would benefit from a global catastrophe that lowers population by 2/3rds

Your life is predestined at the moment your parents have sex.
You may sway it a little with hard work and a bit of luck but the right genome is basically the key to success / happiness.

The real issue is the lithium mining is a localized pollution issue, whereas burning fossil fuels contributes to a much wider area, and in the long term global

A.I. was a great movie. I even liked the ending.

Let's clear up a few things.

First, I know this is bait, and no I don't give the slightest fuck.

Second, strip mining is always done when wither the grade of the final product is poor or that the final product is scarce enough between the other elements present. In both cases, strip mining is needed to create enough throughput to be profitable.

In classical silver and gold mining underground, the reason the method works is because the large, often high quality veins are very apparent. These veins call for workers to drill holes around the vein or deposit, then use explosives to remove the rock. The exact sod which contains the highest concentration is then extracted.

In strip mining, enormous swaths of rock and earth are blasted or dug out to be processed all at once. However, that doesn't mean that the rock and dirt are just... gone. There are huge, strict portions of legislation and environmental movements that require the land be 'repaired' by the removing party, often at their own expense.

Usually the worst part of the mining process is chemical leeching, but companies generally face enormous fines for failing to properly handle the chemicals.

I'm not gonna say it's perfect, but pointing to mining of materials as a source of evidence against green technologies is generally moot. The damage is done, but it's comparatively no worse than digging up your yard to repair a septic tank.

>> affirmative action is a racist policy
Nope. AA allows colleges to measure inherent strengths and weaknesses of a candidate. If a black kid from the ghetto gets 50/100 on a test, while a white boy with every available advantage (rich, tutors, family, etc) gets 75/100, and you note that they're both within one sd of one another, obv the black kid is better despite the lower score. Without AA, in a situation like this, the nigs would never get in.

Still, can absolutely backfire into hella racist territory. Poor asian fuckers.

>> men and women have different strengths/weaknesses
Obv

>> transgenders have an unstable mental illness
na

>> genetic engineering is a positive thing
Any man who claims such certainty about such a mind-boggling and complex topic is an idiot.

>> the world would benefit from a global catastrophe that lowers population by 2/3rds
Holy fuck no this is dumb af

you don't mine lithium, its extracted from brine in
the salt flats.

niggers did not steal my bike

You do realize that cars no longer need to run on just gas. Therefore there'd be more gas to make the 'world function' whatever the fuck that means.

please sir learn me some more

So you want it to cease then? not same user as you replied to, but still a believer that the age of oil needs to end. I dont know shit about peak oil other then that once we hit it we are kind screwed arnt we? Either way oil is gonna run out before electricity in general so we have to make the change at some time. I wish theyd start to phase renewable energy into everything and cut out oil completely, but idealy this would take years if not decades so its an easy transition. .

>Half agree. Employees should be hired based on their merits and qualifications, not be given a shoo-in because of something that's out of their control. But, there are (were) companies that would intentionally not hire someone based on that aspect of their being. Affirmative action really only effects large companies, where it would be painfully obvious that they were disproportionately hiring a certain race/ethnicity and omitting others. In those circumstances, it's they're then hiring based on something that's out of the applicants control (being not black/brown) instead of their merits and qualifications, creating a necessity for it.
>agree
>agree
>agree
>agree, but I don't want to die, I don't want people I like to die, and I like the infrastructure that would collapse if there were a great extinction event. Although the world WOULD benefit greatly from it.

The Bible holds some amazing truths and we could all learn a lot from it's teaching.

I was just on twitter arguing with people who’s names and faces I could fucking see, that all laws are pointless, and you shouldn’t NEED to take a driving test to be allowed to drive because if someone wants to, they’re just gonna do it (you can imagine where the conversation started).

People ARE that retarded

Family bonds are overrated.

>you do realize

>>>reddit

Kek... bait. Got a few biters tho. Well done.

It’s easier than thinking or trying to understand anything. Whatever let’s them assume what they already believe is correct

See We've built the modern world around oil.
Fuel is a minor part of it now.

I'm an extreme far-leftist who wishes the south had won the Civil War so that the USA wouldn't be so fucking huge, with a worthless federal government ruining everything.

Maybe OP isn’t that dumb but people surely are

Oh wow.. You sure got me ya faggot.. Great retort.

>far leftist
>wish the south won
Pick one conservitard

Cleaning your room will not do anything to help with depression

Day what you want but that user is long gone and assumes they won the argument.
>these people shouldn’t be allowed to vote

Jewish privilege?

You can't use leftist knowledge to defeat the left, you'll only add fuel to their fire and confirm that their belief is correct on white privilege.

Radiohead music sucks.

Agreed

Slavery was already on the way out, and being replaced with proletarianization. Trust me, it did not end because white people suddenly decided to be civil.

That's not an opinion, buddy.

There's a thing called energy balance: it takes X amount of energy to make something, X amount of Joules in the most stark terms. Most 'clean' technologies, 'green' technologies, take more energy then they can ever convert. Windmills are a textbook example: it takes ~5 mil barrels of oil to make a Windmill, and, without a major overhaul of the generators and bearings (which are the most expensive parts), only produce about the equivalent of 3 mil barrels. They are pretty much always a net loss in energy from the perspective of a human life. The only net positive energy source, from a human perspective (2nd Law notwithstanding) is Nuclear.

Having the world built around it, specifically doesn't solve the problem of it running out which is the problem im saying needs to be addressed. Im talking about moving things over to renewable sources while using what non renewables we have to help with the transition. No matter if its being used for simple vehicle fuel or to power homes world wide, crude oil will run out one day. We need to start looking for a substitute.

any nudes of hot male Venezuelan soldiers?

>~5 mil barrels

Also, before anyone asks, this isn't just the 'cost' in oil for manufacturing the physical parts of a windmill, but transporting them to the location, mining the ore to make the steel, wiring out to where they are (and they nearly aways are VERY remote) and other associated REQUIRED tasks to make them function. They are always a net loss in energy.

even the officer looks uncomfortable with giving such a crap gift.

A polygamous relationship is fine so long as you honest with each other

The good 'old times' were not so good. It's just fucking nostalgia.

are people actually this stupid?

I dont believe that shit, my piss poor Provence has dozens if not a hundred or more of windmills, i assume their for power of course cuz the damn things are huge. No way they spent 5 millon barrels for each one, you just hate renewable energy and saw some outrageous numbers once and took them as fact.

>Usually the worst part of the mining process is chemical leeching, but companies generally face enormous fines for failing to properly handle the chemicals.
I guess the gas equivalent is fraking.

wasting water and making the grounds toxic, btw this isnt a mine this is where its purified

50 > 75? the nig didn't do better.

You're retarded

>Its not even the right mine, its an Australian Iron mine.

ty

however anons never mention the other mines. Besides this one is in the desert with little wildlife. compared to the fraking oilstands. Contaminated ground water.

Being 'busy' all the time is not something to be proud of or brag about. It just means you are not efficient.

you do know the water is separated from the ground by a barrier right?

Shit I’m not used to people coming back at me with logic or reason of any kind. Still sorta disagree (not about the white people, the other stuff) but I yield either way.

I'm using 5million as a visual metaphor: price wise it's 'less' because of how economics works and the dispersion of the cost: the metal manufactures don't make money on 1000 lbs of sales, but millions: they would lose money supplying *1* windmill. But between the mining of the ore, transporting the ore, refining the ore, machining the metal, cutting the metal, making the wires, making the wiring covering, making the magnets for the turbine, mining the copper for all that wiring/generator, hell manufacturing the paint, the lights and glass, the damn fence that goes around it, transporting all these materials once made TO the location which again, is typically very remote, laying a foundation, actually errecting the structure, and considering it actually requires a small gas engine to turn it on (it needs to get to a set RPM before the wind is capable of maintaining it's rotation (it needs that initial 'kick' to overwhelm the frictional force)), food and ALL the manufacturing/transportation costs associated with people BUILDING the damn thing, and then any gas, materials, and just 'stuff' to maintain it even before major overhauls, yeah, all add up to ~5 mil per windmill.

When you are a Chemical Engineer, in the last 20 or so years, they have you do these calculations to sort of show you green tech is bullshit. The only green tech that works is Nuclear power, because from a human perspective, it 'pays' for itself. The payback period for a windmill, from a human perspective, is ~500 years, which is beyond the reality of the machine lasting. That is why windmills are nearly always subsidized: businessmen have figured out what a boondoggle they are because no self respecting PE will sign off on a design that implies it is 'energy neutral."

any barriers never break..... lol

concrete barrier, I do not know about Chile however...

You monster

yeah the plant may look like that but all of the surrounding lakes and rivers and fucking toxic dumps, plus all the pipelines leak constantly and often not reported for weeks at a time.

Try again AlbertaConservativefag

>compared to the fraking oilstands. Contaminated ground water.
Ground water isn't contaminated by oilsands SAGD operations. The sandy ground already has oil and water mixed. Further no one uses what little ground water is present for anything given the whole area is a swamp with enough surface water to meet what limited demand is present.

the more white a community is, the better it is

Is that unpopular though?

Among untamed animals it is.

noice
hell if you go by that logic, then show the processing plant for oil

OP oilsands are worse to burn, not extract. Burning it is so bad its illegal to use in the US, companies refine it then export it to countries with lax environmental laws.

you mean undereducated simpleton contrarian thread?

The justice system is an idea which is supposed to comfort masses. It has nothing to so with actual justice.

gay porn please

>Mine in the middle of the desert
>Oilsands site in the middle of forest, cutting trees and contaminating air

dick pic?

Electric cars need a huge over haul in bartery technology.
Oil companies need to realese some patents before were too fucked

>OP oilsands are worse to burn, not extract. Burning it is so bad its illegal to use in the US, companies refine it then export it to countries with lax environmental laws.
It's called refining. You refine all oil because it's nasty to try and burn raw. The only difference between oil sand oil and lighter oil is the need to use methane as a source of extra hydrogen, rather than just refining the oil down into petroleum coke.

The final product from the oil sands is a better feed stock for refineries than even the best Texas light sweet crude.

i also like huge dicks?

^this.

While I am entirely for always looking into better practices for existing tech. But all you 'whatever that means' cunts need to stop and look at the list of things, from rubbers, to basically all lubricants, to makeups, foods, etc that use petrochem.

And even if its not the end product, you probably need to lube those gears, or that piston, or any other number of moving parts on that tool you want to use to create your hipster paradise.

Until you find equivalent substitutes, we gonna be suckin that shit from the ground.

Kinda agree with this. We put minimal effort into actual rehabilitation. If we don't believe a prisoner has been rehabilitated in their time, why the fuck are they let out

If they are as ineffiecient as you claim then how the fuck are they getting funded? In Corporate America all profits are attempting to be maximized at all times and I can't see many businesses purposely choosing more expensive methods. I can understand the PR move of representing yourself as a 'green conpany' but I doubt that accounts for even half of all instances. I'm not buying it.

>>Oilsands site in the middle of forest
Swamp. Environmentalists won a major battle in renaming swamps to wetlands, and that type of shit wood to parkland.
Parkland is about one step up from boreal forest.

Also when mining is done all the land is returned to a like natural or better state. It's objectively better than what was before because the toxic oil is removed.

Attached: parkland.jpg (1606x834, 400K)

Problem with increasing battery technology/capacity means it also becomes more volatile. As you increase energy density when it fails it fails more violently. Look at the samsung phone issue that happened.

The oil sands are a natural disaster that we're cleaning up. People don't fucking get that.
