Why does everyone always mention registered guns? Most states don't require gun registration, and the states that do only require it for certain types of guns (some states handguns, some states rifles, etc). The overwhelming majority of guns in America are "unregistered".

In the 30s we banned machine guns. They're going after AR-15s and weapons like it on the basis that it'll help stop mass/school shootings -- it won't. So long as anyone has access to a firearm the possibility of a mass/school shooting exists and through sheer probability alone it'll happen again. When that happens, what are the gun grabbers going to go after next? Probably types of handguns.
I mean look at what gun grabbers point to in which countries America ought to model itself over like the UK: "gun control" has morphed into "knife control" now. I'm too far left and liberals are too corporate for me to call myself a liberal, but allow me to clarify anyway.
We don't want to take guns away.
We want to pass laws prohibiting the manufacture of specific types of guns.
While this won't stop the guns from existing, it will drive up the price due to simple supply and demand, to the point that it takes an obscene amount of money to buy something that can take out 100 people in 90 seconds.
We understand that criminals break the law and that guns are protected and needed for defense. But everybody obeys economic laws; if it's too hard to obtain for furious little shits, shootings will go down.
And we know that guns aren't doing the killing. We have to address why it's happening. But in the meantime fewer dead kids per day might be nice, right? Yes they might still come ready to kill, but it's going to be a lot easier to take down a kid with a knife or a 6 shooter than basically a machine gun.

If they were not able to be legally purchased in the first place they would not be in circulation. Also, guns are much, MUCH harder to smuggle internationally than drugs, due to being larger and made of metal.

The industry around the armed forces is ridiculously important to the economy. We have factories pumping out tanks and jets we don't need or use just so the factory workers keep their jobs. Our military is in fact grossly overfunded but you can't just stop funding it and expect it to be cool.
