super-spooky cover art
True, that's honestly half the reason I shared it. The album isn't bad, but there's significantly better stuff out there though.
what are you listening to?
>black metal mixed with punk is terrible without exception. And yes, that includes the crusty Darkthrone releases.
I like that album a lot op
i love this record a little too much
IN THE NAME OF SATAN
BLOOD SHALL BE SPILLED
MIGHTY NAME OF SATAN
BLOOD SHALL BE FUCKING SPILLED
...
Has ANYONE actually listened to this thing ONCE?! I've tried so many times to sit through the whole album, but it's just so disgustingly boring, formulaic, tactless, directionless, and generic that I haven't been able to get over the first three tracks.
Not that I'd expect otherwise from Satyricon at this point, but what baffles me is who everyone is praising this fucking shit as if it was the second coming of Christ.
I feel that way about pretty much every Satyricon album.
>it's just so disgustingly boring, formulaic, tactless, directionless, and generic that I haven't been able to get over the first three tracks.
That's how I honestly feel about most black metal releases.
>everyone is praising this fucking shit as if it was the second coming of Christ
i don't think i've seen a single person do this
c'mon, Nemesis Divina is one of the best black metal albums out there, you can't deny that, and if you ask me I would even say is the best in all black metal
>disgustingly boring, formulaic, tactless, directionless, and generic
most of the records posted in this general are like that desu
That's fair. I actually like Dark Medieval Times, and while I'm not a huge fan of Nemesis Divina, I can see why it's praised.
I fucking wish it was generic
if it at least adhered to the standards of the genre it would be better.
Eh, Nemesis Divina has quite a few missteps. I'd say Dark Medieval Times is better as well.
only real misstep on nemesis divina is immortality passion but that is purely because of it's length
every other track is absolutely masterful. literally the best songwriting in the genre.
Hot opinion incoming: I hate Mother North. Think it's cheesy and a bit too dramatic.
>the second coming of Christ.
but that would be a bad thing
Yeah, no. Not generic in the strict sense of the root word; generic meaning boring as fuck.
How do I write ice-cold atmoriffs?
then say boring as fuck you illiterate mong.
Chop up and rearrange the riffs on Transilvanian Hunger.
...
Leave your guitar in the snow overnight. When you pick it up in the morning you'll find that all your riffs send a chill down your spine.
Hey cassettefags, I have two tapes in my collection that doesn't play well. Depending on the position of my tape player, the left channel will be more or less attenuated. Do you know what's wrong by any chance?

Haha having bad taste is cool right guys
You've listened to some pretty great stuff. What's your favorite so far?
Nehemah - Light of a Dead Star
Raate - Sielu, Linna
Nordlight - Nebelmeer
Woods of Desolation - As the Stars
Grausamkeit - Helveterich
Kristallnacht - Warspirit
nothing but charts november
get outta here you lefty cuck
Thanks I've got a few Grausamkeit albums in my backlog that I've been meaning to check out. DsO was brought up last night so I'm just going to power through their discography at work today because it's easy to listen to and I haven't heard it in about a year :^)
another quality post, color me surprised
what's the most disappointing record everyone has checked out this month?
I think i liked Kaevum the most so far other favourites are
Riivaus, Caverne, Woodtemple and The Peste Noire/ Horna Split
Definitely Movimento d'Avanguardia Ermetico. They're a one trick pony and I have no clue how I sat through a record that's over an hour.
/nothing but shitty bedroom ambient november/
...
Here's my first 100
Propably Make a change... KYS - Fri
The first two albums were so great and then it became naïve and boring af, complete garbage
Shitty bedroom ambient is one of my favorite genres
And here's my new chart
Midnight Odyssey - Funerals from the Astral Sphere
i felt like i was going to fall asleep listening to it. it just plods on and on but it has absolutely no reason to be so long because the concept isn't even that enticing. Just avoid this album unless your time is worth literally nothing
The new Summoning. Straight up sleep-inducing.
A lot of people have been saying they are disappointed with the new Summoning, and it worries me since I haven't listened yet and I didn't care for Old Mornings Dawn.
Does anyone have a chart or some recommendations for different national/regional folk black metal?
I am thinking of stuff like Panopticon (US folk), Saor (Scottish folk), Melechesh (Middle-Eastern folk) etc.
Fuckin' Clandestine Blaze - City of Slaughter
CB's always going to be mediocre isn't it
The new Blut Aus Nord. I stopped after 3 or 4 songs. Who thought it was a good idea to bring the shitty drum machine to the front of the mix?
The more the time pass, the more I dislike this band.
Skagos - Ást.
Being an Atmo-fag I thought they'd be right up my alley but I didn't really dig it.
fell asleep last night listening to this, surprisingly comfy for a harsh sounding album
It's significantly worse than Old Mornings Dawn.
That album put me to sleep too cuz its so shit
postem recem
2nd one for me
Check out Vemod and Lunar Aurora
Man that is a huge bummer, they've been on the downhill since Oath Bound.
>tfw we likely won't get another amazing Summoning album
>tfw people are going to start making ds and Summoning worship based on Game of Thrones and what little they know of dnd through Stranger Things
i'm only 4 tracks in but holy fuck, this sounds light-years ahead of its time for 1984
check out Ljáin
What’s with Mexican nsbm fans? There were a ton at the Horna show
HAIL URZEIT desu

Listen to Mare Cognitum and Alrakis if you haven't already. Also, Darkspace.
already on it senpai, this was my first half of nbbmn
So what was the worst thing you heard this month?
For me it was this album here, the vocals reminded me to much of teen girl squad

>CB's always going to be mediocre isn't it
he's always amazing
I'd say Blood Tyrant just because my expectations were really high. Still enjoyed it though, definitely not the worst I heard this month.
Into the Abyss (1987) is amazing.
yeah if you could upload it that'd be neat, it looks cool
but Mistletoe is great tho
I thought it was alright, nothing amazing, but not awful either
That being said I didn't expect it to be a black metal release after their last album
rec me some god-tier bm. none of this edgy sounds the same bullshit gimme the best of the best
burguli
this
truly underrated
