first for fuck TK

Fernando Alonso to IndyCar next season.

#Possi

Color me doubtful still, he obviously has nothing to prove in F1 and has more than enough money to live off of forever, but I don't see him coming full time.

He obviously enjoyed his time here, most drivers do because the F1 paddock is full cutthroats.

I watched the Canadian GP last weekend and the only exciting part of it was Patrick Stewart doing the Shoey

absolute shit "racing"

twitter.com/IndyCar/status/874348638939598848

SATO-SAMA IS BACK HOME.

Has to feel good to be on the greatest city in the world as an accomplished motorsport driver.

>celebrate finishing 3rd by having a celebrity drink out of your shoe

Alonso's charge in a completely outmatched car was solid.
Vettel's charge from the back was enjoyable as well.

>Alonso's charge in a completely outmatched car was solid.
yeah, until the engine blew up, again, lol

>Vettel's charge from the back was enjoyable as well.
>make stupid mistake at start
>easily go back up to the front in your car that overpowers every other car except Mercedes
not impressive.

they have to do stunts like this to distract from the shit racing. which is shit because there is not an even playing field which means the "competition" is a sham.

Has Alonso even been seen since he went into the crowd? Could be walking to Indianapolis and hiding there

...

maybe it's like that time Ayrton Senna crashed out of the Monaco GP and just climbed out of his car and left without saying anything and went to his apartment there.

maybe Fernando just caught a taxi to the airport and flew home lol.

happy for sato

If he has the money, Alonso should pull an Ed Carpenter move and just start his own team.

me too
he deserves it

>i hate Will Power

I don't hate Will Power really, I just don't like Penske

they need to ditch the ugly paint jobs

whats their endgame

>what are their name's again?
Cheap Ganassi and Roger Pimpske.

make money at all costs, even if it means pressuring people to make decisions that hurt the entire series

>Verizon, Penske'a main sponsor, is also the series title sponsor

really makes you think

Of note, Will Power at 31 Wins has tied Paul Tracy and Dario Franchitti for 9th on the all time wins list.

Posted late in the last thread.
In case you gentlemen missed it, Chris Beatty is the man who jointly designed the 2018 aero with Dallara and Indycar.
Here's a podcast interview with him.
slipstreamnetwork.com/2017/06/12/p2p-feature-behind-the-design-of-the-2018-aero-kit-with-chris-beatty/

His design input was mostly used to balance performance and aesthetics.

Road America is fun as fuck to drive

>Izod sponsorship
>Briscoe wins fuck all
>Verizon sponsorship
>Power cucked at the 500 repeatedly

really sprains the brains

I agree, one of my go to tracks on any game.
Got within 4 seconds of 2016 P1 in Project Car's DW12.
Not particularly impressive, but I'm no driver either.

>Sebastian Bourdais will not race in 24h LeMans
>Tony Killnan will instead take out half the field so he can score a top ten finish.

I disagree. At this point he has no chance of winning more F1 championchips. However, he can still be the first person in 50 years to win the triple crown and possibly win the Indycar and WEC championchips for an even great achievement.

I don't hate power, he's one of the best drivers in the world. but I like the underdogs.

How mad would you be if he wins his category?

/ourguy/

I hate TK, so pretty mad. But i'd like too see /indy/ do well

He very well might be done too, he's certainly one of the oldest in the paddock.
(Who is the oldest?)

Alonso would be a welcome addition anywhere he goes.

Very improved, but I still don't fully like the rear end.

Would have preferred if they kept but minimized the rear bumper pods, maybe to just a metal bar or something (to prevent launches), and completely removed the the bodywork in front of the rear tire.

I don't hate TK, he actually one of the nicest guys in the paddock.
He's just old enough that his results don't match the quality of his seat.
This year probably will be his last full season.

Small rear pods haven't really prevented launches.
As I recall even in 2012 when they were introduced, we had a launch in either St. Pete or Long Beach.
Can't recall right now.
They were ineffective and caused a hefty rear weight bias.

motor/sp/ort died lol

we need it back for 24h LE MANS HYPE

meh, the OP(s) can't even list all the events right.
the fact the OP missed major events like MotoGP and Super Taikyu last week is pretty sad.

This.
Motor/sp/ort has its place for sportscar.
Those of us in /indy/ will post updates on how the Indycar drivers are doing.

when does le mans start happening?

June 17-18

this just means to sign God Zealanders and not Poostralians to race for you

Emergency bump because LeCuckold James just got BTFO by Commiefornia.

This week. Wednesday is the first practice and qualifying sessions

There's an Indycar test at Road America June 14th.

Some Indy Lights drivers will also be testing some Indycars at Road America.
motorsport.com/indycar/news/indy-lights-drivers-to-test-indycars-at-road-america-918001/amp/

3 current Indycar drivers will be present at Le Mans.
Scott Dixon
Tony Kanaan(Sebastian Bourdais' replacement)
Mikhail Aleshin

What's Alotion's role?

LMP2 racing a BR01 Chassis.
For SMP Racing(Not to be confused with Schmidt Peterson Motorsport who he drives for in Indycar)

Fug wrong picture.

Cool. Streaming?

Some incite from a Dale Coyne employee.
motorsport.com/indycar/news/coyne-race-engineer-laments-string-of-destruction-918007/

Dale Coyne is paying out of pocket for repairs this year.
Possibly, if nothing else Indycar will post an onboard or two.

...

I don't follow.

>tfw coyne has bad luck and could go broke from it

Yeah it hurts.
He started the year with 4 tubs.
1 was written off at Indy, another was damaged at Texas.

Ed's tub was structurally fine though Vautier's sustained damage.

bump

What time is the testing today?

Tomorrow m8.
14th.
Also it seems a lot of teams have cancelled their visit to Road America after Texas incidents.

>tfw eddie said he liked the race at his track and it reminded him of figure 8 racing or some shit
i wish indycar didn't race there

Bump
Some stuff happening soon.

Coyne is working hard to have both cars ready for North America.
racer.com/indycar/item/141407-coyne-team-rallying-to-make-road-america-test

>North America
Jesus, Road America test.
Too sleepy for this.

Here's what the Le Mans grid looks like out there.

Why are there so many LMP2s

He's a dumb piece of shit. Listen to his episode of dinner with racers and you lose IQ.

because LMP1 is a shit category with shit rules that killed privateers. They're trying to resurrect it for 2018 and several lmp2 teams seem likely to enter lmp1 but I am doubtful it will work as expected. They'll still be uncompetitive to the hundred million dollar factory programs.

Montoya is the closest current racing driver to doing it since he has a monaco and indy win, but I doubt he'll ever go to wec now.

I don't see why LMP1 can't be reserved for factory works teams and LMP2 be the privateer jungle.
Isn't that how it already is?

>Isn't that how it already is?
yeah and it sucks

LMP1 was at its best early when it was all privateers and super competitive. Then audi showed up.

Even if LMP1 was opened up, you said it yourself that privateer teams would be uncompetitive against a factory works team.
LMP1 can remain a proving ground for Manufacturer technologies.

Why should a sport being a shitting ground for big companies

>LMP1 can remain a proving ground for Manufacturer technologies.
lol come on. Even Audi's diesel propaganda was full of shit, which is why their parent company is in so much trouble right now. If they want a proving ground, most manufacturers own several of their own private testing facilities, they can fuck off from my entertainment.

for the same reason Mercedes and Ferrari are the only competitive teams in F1

money

this year LeMans LMP1 is Toyota vs Porsche. there's one privateer team but the best they could hope for is 3rd place.

Red Bull spends just as much if not more

redbull used to be the top spender, but mercedes has outspent them since 2011.

all they can usually get is a 3rd place and a Shoey

...

Fug

top kek

Group C prototypes looked better

>race cars will never look or sound this cool again

what if Dale Coyne Racing has more crashes and goes out of business lads?

I'm scared ;_;

same thing that happened when KV went out of business: nothing. Indycar doesn't really care about the small teams.

testing for the 2018 aero kit will use current, but not active drivers.
autoweek.com/article/indycar/indycars-jay-frye-says-aero-kit-testing-will-use-current-not-active-drivers

Vautier? Karam?

servia, jpm, briscoe

I don't think Vautier and Karam are experienced enough to give good feedback.

the field of cars is already too small we can't lose more

the series even struggles to get the 33 for the 500

Townsend Bell?

I like those walls, i don't know why.
Same with shark fins in f1 cars.

possible

I'm guessing Oriol Servia for the Honda car, Juan Pablo Montoya for the Chevrolet car. (they are gonna test the aero kit with both engines)

Shark fins are kino

youtube.com/watch?v=d4gFYO5uAWg

what a fucking race 24hLM was last year. Holy shit.

I agree LeMans is cool but let's try to keep /indy/ about IndyCar

motor/sp/ort for Lemans shit user

because that one is small
