>Anglos

should went into BSD

not our fight

this

>yfw a drunk russian amateur hacker with a 10 year old computer will take down the british 3,5 billion pound carrier for the bantz some day

I didn't vote to fight Assad.

a big cyber attack is going right now. A lot of pcs got pwnd

It's not us. The lads say it's either chinese or nk

Pussies

It's a good OS desu.

pls no

Apparently lads lied to me. It was some slavs who only attacked brc (big russian companies)

Wew, why?

Idk. Maybe they just wanted to test the virus or only had emails of these companies.

It doesn't run Windows XP, stop being silly.

>Build a ship that costs 3,5 billion £
>Best_Korean_Ransomware.exe
>Vessel gets stranded in the middle of the Atlantic
>Pay 600$ or else
>Scottish captain:
>"No"

Jocks are tight as fuck with money, so I could see this happening.

Can't believe these rumours continue to persist in the media, terrible journalism which mongs continue to fall for.

>there is a special windows for warships

>"Windows for Warships"
Heh

That makes sense, no? You wouldn't run a military vehicle on an operating system that Joe Public has access to and 80% of viruses are designed for.

Yes, and believe it or not it's not connected to the internet anyway. It's the same with submarines.

it was written 17 years ago. I understand that it just works but military budgets are big enough to create a Linux based system for warships nor any military equipment
almost any device can be used for attack. Even ecig

She finally set sail yesterday on a couple years of trials, godspeed big warship.

Good thing that

>So what do the Queen Elizabeth class use? The new carriers will also be the first ships to be built with a BAE Systems designed operating system called Shared Infrastructure, which will be rolled out across the Royal Navy’s surface fleet over the next 10 years.

...

good for them then. Nobody would write a virus for such an obscure os aside from spies of course

You should see the papers over here about how Russia is going to spy on the new carrier. Which is really a normal thing to do.

i remember the news that an american destroyer or something went out of order because its onboard windows PC went into the blue screen

Bigger than i thought.

Both will be the biggest aircraft carriers in the world after the American ones. Well over 70,000t when fully equipped.

We didn't get ours ship from france because of ukraine shitfest so we are jelly that's for sure.
No surprise her. The software there as old as cpus they use in these things

>No surprise her. The software there as old as cpus they use in these things
Doubtful. Electronics, software and firmware are often upgraded.
t.guy who worked for a defense contractor.

Does it fit in the "Supercarrier" terms?

Technically yes.

There is a list on the internet what cpus aircraft fighters use. It's all old as fuck because it has to be a special version without backdoors and low power consumption

Is it nuclear or diesel powered?

>specialised version of Microsoft Windows 2000
So windows fucking XP. They're exactly the same thing, their drivers are interchangeable, XP just featured a fischer price UI targeted at niggers and women.

even ruskies use a fork of debian lol.

It's all about how much tonnage it displaces, over 70,000t to be classed as a supercarrier. These new carriers are using 2 Rolls-Royce gas turbine engines.

>a fucking ramp

Well, it was a good operating system. They could probably get the experts required to keep it locked up.

That pieces was written in 2015, pls see for what they'll actually be using.

Diesel, no reason to go with nuclear with the amount of overseas British territories and ports.

10 bucks it's actually an ubuntu fork with a menacing name to appear spooky and serious.

It can be retrofitted and the ramp removed in the future if they wanted to, there's space below for it. They made the choice for budgetary reasons, same for not going nuclear.

dunno m8 BAE Systems are a pretty big company and have billions of pounds behind them.

I see.

>with a menacing name to appear spooky and serious.
Don't laugh mate, spooky names are the most important part.

Had to wait until low tide to get it underneath the Forth bridges. Hence why the mast can be lowered at an angle.

Newer CPUs use less power and at least aircraft (most of what I world with) make a lot of power and also have an APU that is capable of generating power if something happens to the main system. We used to do hardware/software upgrades all the time for even older aircraft like the F-15. They don't communicate through the net you have to directly connect to the hardware and they don't have shit like USB connectors. You have specific programmers. Ships also have separated systems (email isn't the same as control). The only way hackers could get in would be internal sabotage by people who knew what they were doing.

>ramp
Oh god Brits, what are you doing?

>Scottish captain
I don't expect people to know much about our military but jocks really aren't that keen on joining/fighting
More likely to be a Welshman

Mate works on the f-35 AI systems
It's a mess of different stuff to make it easy to trouble shoot and program from what he explains

how does Australia have a more pussy national policy than England and Germany?

>t.guy who worked for a defense contractor.
how's welfare feel?

It was for the joke. I assumed you would realise this.
I was under the impression that the Scottish people have been stereotyped as being a bit parsimonious.

Didn't they resume airstrikes recently? It was only ever a temporary thing I think.

Post that to DM and it'll make tomorrows headlines

It's funny because it's true.

Much more friendly thread than the /k/ one.
