Hur durrr music has objective value duuurrrr

>hur durrr music has objective value duuurrrr

itt memes that went too far

>listens to black flag once

the real red pill is learning that objective reality is not even observable

theres no objective value to music but you can give value when making comparisons

i don't think there are too many people who can properly argue that brokencyde is better than mozart, but faggot OP should try

mozart shit
brokencyde good
XD

I'll try:
some people like Brokencyde and don't like Mozart.

done

If there is no objective value, it's nonsense to say that something "is better than" something else; all you're left with is opinion.
Deal with it.

>all you're left with is opinion
nope

Objective qualities in music
1) how well it's played (are they playing they instruments correctly)
2). How well is produced
3) how well the lyrics are written
4) how well the music flows
5) how well a song is sung

Their*

great thread man

>how well it's played
and how do you judge that? maybe they are playing unpleasantly on purpose
>how well it's produced
maybe poor production is on purpose, ever heard of low fi?
>how well the lyrics are written
again subjective
>how well the music flows
subjective
>how well the song is sung
subjective

you get the point

You're making an error.
Objectivity and subjectivity aren't polar opposites they exist on a spectrum.
Something can be "more objective" without being purely objective. It's thus fair to say that Mozart is objectively better than [insert 2deep4u interchangeable hipster flavor of the week]

Badly playing an instrument on purpose isn't "art" it's just playing badly

Shure it can be badly produced on purpose. But it's still badly produced

Um no their are good songwriters and poets. Song writing and poetry can be measured objectively. Why do you think people think Shakespeare is the best? Do you think it's because everyone collectively enjoys his writing
It's because he had skill

How well the music flows is not subjective. If you change a note off beat or two notes don't go together in a melody it will sound like shit You should learn music theory

No singing is not subjective
If you can't hit notes you're not a good singer

Music is not subjective.
How it makes you FEEL is subjective
Please do not get the confused

Looking for objective quality in art is not cultural facism.

So playing goodly an instrument isnt art either. check

What the hell are you saying, is that English?

how can you claim something to be more objectively good when you can't articuale an objective standard for esthetic "goodness"

*articulate
europoster

fucking /thread
you stupid fucks never even read berkeley

>heh you know you just have to listen to the fucking music everything is relative heheh

lol you serious man? What's objective about music?

There are some qualities that you can consider more objective, like the time signatures. But then again, at the core, everything is subjective, you can only apply some objectivity on how you will judge the quality for yourself.

Again, none of these things are objective. Shakespeare is definitely objectively good, it's just very popularly agreed on that it is. There is no mathematical proof that demonstrates what good production or good singing sounds like. There is a generally agreed on principle of what good music is but it isn't objective

If writing (Shakespeare) can be objectively good, music can too.

You can perhaps remove some of the emotional aspect to opinions about music but that doesn't make it objective.

I meant to say definitely not, apologies

Like I said, it's impossible to judge something as "good" with full objectivity, specially because you need to compare thing with other things in order to judge them, but you can still add whatever you call "objectivity" in the process.

>implying it doesn't
>sales
>instrument fluency
>vocal range
>performance endurance
duuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrr

It has emotional value though, and your emotions can create objects if they are in a good place.
