has there ever been an instance where the politically inspired album turned out to be on par or better than the artists previous works, other than kendrick?
>inb4 Animals
ok now name another
my favorite shit is when an artist says this and the lyrics don't even seem vaguely political
Master of Puppets ramped up the political shit
well Year Zero was lightyears better than With Teeth
Actually yes, that's true
Joey Badass's All Amerikkkan Badass. It's arguable, but I feel like his more well rounded sound is better than his throwback sound. He was able to deliver some really solid slow burners (ish), and ditch his more limited boom bap style.
>our new politically-charged album
>it contains right wing beliefs
Okay I personally don't seem to think this is as good as their previous albums.
But the majority of people seem to disagree with me.
>kendrick

It’s their best album. Maybe wait a year or so, it’ll actually start kicking in
The thing about musicians is that they're artists and that doesn't mesh very well with the deliberacy of politics
Also we're living in the most political time in history and liberalism isn't exactly known for its good reasoning
I cannot think of a single politically charged song I've ever heard that made some kind of legitimate point or accomplished something. Or was even discernable what exactly they were objecting to.
I don't know man.
Helplessness blues is one of my absolute favorite albums.
The melodies, vocal harmonies, the lyrics...
It all works for me.
I feel the lyrics on CU are a little too preachy for my tastes by comparison, and the melodies just aren't there either.
Sure it's more musically complex and there's more varied instrumentation.
But those things don't impact my actual enjoyment of most music.
>Or was even discernable what exactly they were objecting to.
The system, man!

YOU JUST GOT
Crack-Up takes pretentiousness to a new level. It tries so hard to be a specific something and not be a specific something else. The result is a headache, no more no less. I have hopes for the next record though.
good political music exists
actually they do
