I dunno really. If I disregard death metal as a separate category then early black sabbath? I don't have any of their albums but I like their music a lot. Um, I listen to Paradise Lost and Napalm Death so I don't think they really count. I would need to build up a thrash collection. Out of the big four probably I'd go Anthrax, they're fresh really.

I dunno. I've been interested in getting into metal but no subgenre interests me passed a few albums. Disco Volante and Dopesmoker/Jerusalem are two of my favourite albums though.

By your description I knew you were gonna link "Planet Caravan". Great stuff. Also yeah I forgot about Sabbath for a minute there. It's such a cliche at this point, but their first four LPs (especially Paranoid and Master of Reality) are such solid records.
