Why has the MGS series not been adapted yet?
Is it because snake is a symbol of toxic masculinity?

>toxic
>not venomous
All MGS characters are too much for normies to handle tbqhwymf

The only thing that needs to be adapted is either Big Boss' story, the story from Big Boss' his point of view or a story that rightfully depicts Big Boss as the true hero of the saga.

>Why has the MGS series not been adapted yet?
because it's shit.
Splinter Cell needs an adaptation, that's enough StealthKino for everyone.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the guy directing Kong: Skull Island is/was attached to direct it

MGS is completely un-adaptable. It's fucking incomprehensible without 5 hours of cut scenes and another 15 of codec conversations.

Because games themselves are half-movies anyway.

You try cramming everything you need to understand a Metal Gear story into a two hour movie, user.

It's fine as is.

I think the subsistence disc came with a movie version of the third game. Watch that.

None of that shit matters. Most players don't even know there's a codec button let alone obsessively press it every five steps

It got delayed. It will probably happen 2018-2019

Videogames don't need to be adapted to movies.

Also most MGS games have around 4 hours or more of cutscenes. Try fitting that plus all the non cutscene dialogue into a movie.

>Try fitting that plus all the non cutscene dialogue into a movie.

Easy, because 90% of it is redundant

>toxic

I think you mean nuclear

>Implying MGS2 doesn't go right past what audiovisual media can possibly do while aiming for the stars
There's no need user.

>nuclear

i think you meant nucular.

Though, MGS is not only about being stealth ,you ignorant fool

I could them possibly making a good snake eater movie but they would need a director who really gets the source material and a amazing cinematographer

It's anti government.

It's like making a movie about che guevara, Hollywood doesn't glorify people like that.

it's a symbol of shitty script writing

'cause everyone would mistake him with Kurt Russell's Snake? And also that movie Snake's rights are the property of some other studio?

It's already been adapted. MGS is a rip off from a lot of movies dipshit

>It's like making a movie about che guevara, Hollywood doesn't glorify people like that.
wew

Who would you cast /tv?

I go with Daniel Day Lewis as Big Boss.

In a series it wouldn't matter....

Actually.. they should just shoot the same scenes as in the game but now with actors and shit

>so there was the bestest soldier ever and they cloned him
>also robots
>now watch as I spew highschool philosophy
Only Sup Forums eats that shit up. That crap won't even fly as capeshit

it flopped and cost Sonderbergh his career

>be watching Snake Eater 3D
>you have to take off the glasses halfway through

What if we remove the pointless bullshits?

>Kurt Russell's Snake?
neo millenials don't know that movie, they don't even know Kurt Russel

But user, it's all pointless bullshits!

What would you have left?

There is an animated movie coming soon by the guy who wrote Metal Gear Solid 4.

It's adapted from his novel, it's very metal gear without the goofy stuff.

>Wanting to give Konami more money after fucking over a number of their workhorse franchises
This series can never and should never be made into a movie, tv show, lifetime original daytime movie, youtube video, flick, pachinko machine, film, or whatever else bullshit medium other than what has already come out.

the poster looks kino.

Pic related is the only person who should play big boss

Never heard of this but looks kinda cool.

We need a director who will not submit to the producers, and will be true to the 10 minute ladder scene of the game, and not do something faggy such as shrinking it down to 2 minutes.

A movie cannot be MGS without the ladder.

Scott eastwood definitely looks the part of solid snake

I've read the book but I had no idea that guys worked with Kojima.

They could easily do a series of movies.

The problem is that everyone who (mostly) cares already now the story.

This looks very mature for an anime. Haven't seen anything with such a realistic design since Ghost in the Shell.
I'm not even a weeb but I might check this out.

Scott Eastwood looks like a limp-wristed version of his father. Plus he can't act.

Video games seem like a bad thing to adapt into a movie for me.

A video game basically has cutscenes connected by gameplay. How would this work in a movie?

It's called "adaption"

there are 14 movies in the marvel capeshit movie universe. Do you really think people will sit through 14 let alone 8 movies revolving around Metal Gear?

They could do the first two games. The MSX ones. They'd fit perfectly into two movies.

It's called transposition, if you want to get snobby.

Because they are already movies.

Too old to film the earlier/naked snake days.

But I agree, wasn't Snake kind of based on Kurt anyway?

Better off starting from the very beginning, i.e. MGS3. Imagine, for a moment, MSX Metal Gears 1 and 2 were made into a movie. It does well. Execs want to green light more. Now a universe is established and must be built upon. Prequels, sequels, and spin-offs start churning. Contracts are drawn up to keep mulitple actors attached to multi picture deals that span almost a decades worth of filming. Licensing rights to a number of products let alone legal battles would entangle the franchise in so much red tape it would make ones head spin. Feel free to add on any more unforseen problems which may arise.

Still wanna make it?

It's too outrageous to normies audiences and if they tried to make it more grounded it would ruin the spirit of the whole thing

STOP TRYING TO MAKE VIDYA MOVIES HAPPEN

MGS 1 & 3 could be adapted into movies pretty easily. They already had a cinematic quality and had fairly understandable stories, but only if you trim the fat.

MGS 2 & 4 would be near impossible to properly adapt due to the sheer insanity of their respective plots. These would need to be changed so much that you might as well not bother.

MGS PW & 5 could make pretty cool TV shows. You could start a HBO style series and get into the philosophy behind creating a socialist style military state. Also the implications of living as someone's body double. The rise and fall of Venom Snake could be shown from the beginning of Peace Walker and into Operation Intrude with flashbacks filling in the blanks from MGS3. Each season could be a year of time.
S1: 1974 - Peace Walker Incident
S2: 1975 - Ground Zeroes (would need to be extended)
S3: 1984 - Beginning of MGS5 (hospital escape, beginnings of mother base, recruitment of Huey and Quiet.)
S4: 1985 - Revenge against Skullface and Quiet stuff (This season would need a lot more depth than what is depicted in game. Season would end with twist reveal)
S5: 1984 - 1987: This season would start with time spent with real Big Boss showing his activities in the US and working for Langley again while secretly working on the creation of Outer Heaven. Halfway through season would return to Venom (this could be the mysterious Chapter 3). Season ends with Diamond Dogs transitioning into Outer Heaven
S6: 1995 - Season focus switches to Solid Snake as he infiltrates Outer Heaven.

Redundant?

Underrated

>Splinter Cell needs an adaptation

Unless they can make a younger clone of Ironside I don't really see the point.

Pic related was attached to play sam for awile but i dont know if he still is or not

that half mick faggot was an hygienic moron who would've been a genocidal tyrant, far worse than the people he railed against

>all these people acting like MGS is actually kino
It's got terrible writing and everything aside from the gameplay is retarded. That's why I love it, it's over the top insane cheesy shit, that's what they have to capture in a film, not an actual well made movie. They need the over exposition with awkward japanese translated dialogue, dumb plot twists and camera shots, semi shit acting

This guy gets it

It's a good question. If you cut out the stupidest bullshit Metal Gear Solid is basically Die Hard in a nuclear weapon facility.

>the greatest threat to mankind is umm, a tank that can carry nukes...
>despite the fact that submarines already do this :/

As much as I revere Metal Gear for either how wacky it gets with its overarching narrative, or the great characters, I still think that you couldn't sell the Metal Gear being such a bad thing in a movie. It works in the games because everthing's retarded already, so might as well not question it, but in a toned-down movie, eh.

Why they shouldn't tone it down
And the patriots sort of became the main threat anyway

>a toned-down movie
why would you do that

PW and MGS5 have way more retarded shit than MGS2

>Why they shouldn't tone it down

What are Hollywood producers dictating that the movie should be nuanced with more believable things to sell it to a wider audience?

Who would you guys cast as cobra unit?

They already made two G.I Joe movies though.

Me on the right.

Terrorist group with nukes is a pretty bad thing alone. Then again it makes you think the point of a Metal Gear movie when you're basically forced to cut out the idea of Metal Gear as really silly.

>Redundant?

You don't actually need the 30 minute radio conversations with Snake's tech advisor about what she had for lunch that day to tell the story

Nor do you need the constant Aizuchi in the dialogue which stretches out that dialogue considerable. A very Japanese thing that the English versions of the games carried over faithfully, for some reason.

The biggest thing for me is that the movie will be MGS1, but MGS3 is a far more compelling, adaptable and broadly appealing story.

Because it's already been done.

Holy fuck sticks.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aizuchi

Now that you bring it up, about half the dialogue in the game is "go on" or "got it".

After the reception to Batman v Superman I know no normie could handle MGS unless they were hypocritical with their tastes.

>for some reason.
Because Kojima's a spergy auteur.

Aizuchi?

MGS is a collection of cliches from action movies woven into a literal convoluted plot. Works great in games but for cinema? Fuck no. Id imagine people leaving the theaters just from the amount of "FUCK WHAT IS THIS" thrown at them.

LIke seriously, even the Crank movies make sense when compared to MGS.

It's already a fucking movie
You just have to play it on a console

Please don't compare MGS with that garbage.
Stop trying to mix your shit taste with objectively good things.

the whole point was to make a fucking anime video game and Kojima nailed it. MGS could work as an anime with all its convoluted bullshit

It's the weeb term for metal gear parroting.

Parroting?

But BvS is superior to your b-movie parody. The cutscenes for your parody didn't even look good until MGSV.

Yes
MGS is all about homosexual undertones and manly men, no way it would pass today

>was
if Kong isn't a fucking flop probably he could do it but also he will get on a different tier and that means they will offer him shitloads of money to do other crap and not yet another videogame adaptation.

>literal convoluted plot

So basically capeshit then?

how about because the story is batshit retarded

because the storyline is garbage and most of it is a rip off of various movies

All they'd need to do is have cut out that contrived nonsense Kojima put in and still do the same alternate history, slightly futuristic story as it already is

based on Michael Biehn actually in the first Terminator movie.
Iroquios Pliskin in MGS 2 is a shoutout to Snake Plisken from Escape from Newyork but actually Snake there looks like a blend between Reese from the future and Snake Pliskin.

MGS is one of those game series that wouldn't translate well to film
All the fourth wall breaks only work as a video game

From the guys tweets, he's still attached too it.

twitter.com/VogtRoberts/status/550127629521518593
twitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/757061138773192704

mark my words, if Kong flops, he won't get shit and if it goes well he will get "more interesting offers".

Kojima is such a fucking nerd about movies.

>DDL as big boss

I see him more as Revolver Ocelot more than anything

>people not thinking that mgs5 was pure kino

it's like you hate cinema or something

What's so bad about the metal gear? It's a robot designed to be all terrain, so that you could carry nukes across a border and launch it undetected.

Is this a real question? Because the plots of MGS are *aggressively* Japanese. They have already been told in the highest production value video games in existence. If you made them Anime you just end up with the same story but not interactive.

If you try to make them a live action hollywood? It's like taking a healthy 100ft oak and chainsaw carving it into a shitty sculpture of an owl or something. Sure the end product might be alright, but it's almost unrecognizable from what you started with, you lost a ton of perfectly good shit in the process, the original hardcore 'treehugger' audience will hate what you did to their tree and the casual normies will be like "climbing that tree was pretty fun back in the day, you had to go and fuck it up just so we can have another fucking shitty owl sculpture?"

The fact that ballistic missile submarines do the same thing and already exist?
