Western General

I just watched Once Upon a Time in the West. It was pretty awesome. Good balance between action and story. Good music. Good characters.

I'm pretty new to westerns. What are some of the best?

And thank you. This sounds interesting

REQUIRED:

The Legend of God's Gun is weird western kino

If you have all that time, add two more to your view list then

>The Man who shot Liberty Valance
>Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Dont forget Winchester 73

Was surprised by how much I enjoyed that.

Django

You're welcome OP, enjoy the Wild West

>and rango if that counts
oddly, it does

>not having The Wild Bunch

You all need to kill yourselves...

Probably highest quality Western film ever

Don't forget, No Country for Old Men is a western

The Shootist is chocked full of feels and John Wayne Jimmy Stewart realness.

They call me Trinity is the spaghetti comedy western that pre-date Blazing Saddles. The german and italian dubs are the best.

The Great Silence

The assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford is kind of a deconstruction of the genre. Also the best musical score of the last decade.

...

El Topo is more of an hippie movie, same director of The Holy Mountain.

This was way better than expected. I started it on a whim and watched it in one sitting.

Genuinely awful. Maybe you watched it as children and liked it, but it's not good.

This here is my favorite western of all time

Are you by any chance American?

No.

Why you don't like Terence Hill?

That movie is so iconic Tarantino put it's soundtrack in Django.

youtube.com/watch?v=eooAsoxuJJI

It's not funny.
Nothing about the movie is iconic, even if you like it.

Not one of the best, but In a Valley of Violence was a surprisingly decent movie. Definitely worth a watch, though it's not going to go down as a classic or anything.

>It's not funny
That's just like your opinion man

>Nothing about the movie is iconic, even if you like it
Another director put it's soundtrack in his own movie as an homage. That's literally what the definition of iconic is.

>That's literally what the definition of iconic is
That literally isn't, you faggot

Just because Tarantino liked it and used it doesn't make it iconic. He routinely borrows shit from other people, that doesn't confer some meaning of quality on their work.

You haven't yet provided argument other than "stop liking what i don't like!"

youtube.com/watch?v=Yd8TpzioY6k

no shitbrain, the onus is on you to explain how someone else borrowing something makes it iconic

It spawned it's own subgenere of spaghetti-western called fagioli-western (fagioli=beans).

>spaghetti-western.net/index.php/A_Man_called_Trinity

Definition of iconic: "famously and distinctively representative of its type".

Now it's your turn to explain why They call me Trinity is a bad movie without using "i didn't like it" as an argument.

Buzzards gotta eat

just a little movie called The Good The Bad and The Ugly

I never argued the merits of that movie, just your fast-and-loose goalpost moving definition of iconic

Oh damn, you are so salty.

How would you rate the dollar trilogy?

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly > a fistful of dollars > for a few dollars more

This is straight to VOD garbage that no one would give a shit about if it starred Michael Madsen or some shit.

How is Hateful Eight?

>The Good, the Bad and the Ugly = a fistful of dollars = for a few dollars more

I honestly love all of eastwoods westerns

>good music
understatement

>Cantona

fuck yes

ctrl f tomb

ONLY ONE RESULT

that fucking cast.

Good taste.

High Noon
Shane
McCabe & Mrs. Miller
The Missouri Breaks
The Professionals

>Eric Cantona
well now I have to watch
