I have a 90s Howard Roberts and right now it sounds more like a nice es175 than the reissue does.The top on this one is stupid thick, i think they've changed it back from a couple of years ago. Really though it just needs a new setup and possibly a abr-1 bridge, but the cheap fuckers didn't even include the proper wrench for the "historic" truss rod, this is supposed to be a $5600 guitar....
I just popped open an 18 pack. Im closer to getting that gibson and getting good.

Try using more of an angle as you fret. Make the shape and play it string by string and reposition your fingers until you can play it string by string and hear every note. Then you can start strumming.
