Good albums to listen while reading?

Mostly instrumental, ambientish stuff? I used to listen to Utopia's soundtrack and Amon Tobin's albums but trying to find new stuff

I really like Grouper for reading
early Stars of the Lid
William Basinski
Steve Hauschildt/Emeralds

>"listening" to Amon Tobin while reading

I like minimal techno/ambient techno and similar stuff, albums like
Monolake-Hong Kong
Yagya-Rigning
Maybe some Gas albums
Gridlock-Formless
Fennesz-Venice

Maybe you can't, maybe I can, maybe you dumb dumb

>listening to music while reading
Are you fucking kidding me?

Some people like to have ambient music on in the background while they read

why does this outrage you?

Explain yourself

Thanks for sharing guys, i'll try all those

>muh extra stimulation
Immerse yourself in the literature. Become sucked into the world. You don't need any further stimilation.
You FUCKING brainlets.

Who said anything about literature you fervid child?

What if the reading is for work or research purposes?

maybe some people don't desire to sit in absolute silence when they read anyway

>reddit spacing

>ur habits are not muh habits, ur habits are shit
What if the world and the music are compatible?
Its like a duet, I know what I want, I know why I want it, if you're not gonna share and just try to feed us your weak ass art consuming philosophy, might aswell not post anything

brilliant

I don't get it either, same with listening to music while studying.
I could never concentrate having all that noise on.

>being retarded

it doesn't need to be intrusively loud

>Become sucked into the world.
the real world is too fast and loud
what's wrong with filtering out everything with a bit of ambient or drone in order to better immerse yourself in literature?
I live with roommates, my college is busy, and the libraries here are almost always filled with fucking kids and babies yelling loudly and crying. there's absolutely nothing wrong with filtering the world out so you can focus better on your reading.
however I will say that, imo, you shouldn't listen to new music while reading a new book. listen to ambient/drone/lowercase you're familiar with when reading a new book

Still, you're hindering your studying by relying on having music on in the background.
You should be 100% focused on the material.

you are hindering yourself by allowing people and things bother you when you're trying to study.
in a perfect world you can study in absolute silence but silence in today's world does not exist.

...

I'm not saying absolute silence, but if you think listening to music magically makes you pick up the material faster, you're delusional.
That might be why I see so many college kids failing exam after exam. They're half-assing their studying with bad habits.

I found a way to study in the middle of the ghetto with people yelling on the streets at all hours. You should be able to find a way too.

to a certain extent I can sympathize
I don't listen to music when reading lit though

I can't read books with music, I usually read while listening to field recordings or something but I do like to pair albums with manga and comics
I read watchmen listening to pic related discography, very mood setting

how do you study?
college kids fail exam and exam because they don't study in the first place; it has nothing to do with their studying habits, since, you know, they don't have a habit of studying anyway

>I found a way to study in the middle of the ghetto with people yelling on the streets at all hours.
I'm willing to bet by this you mean calling the cops on your minority neighbors lmao

Welp, made a post to get some new music
70% are people trying to tell me how to enjoy my life and 30% actually helping. As expected of Sup Forums I guess. Thank you to the 30% tho

A Winged Victory For the Sullen is pretty good and uplifiting imo, you could also check out Stars of the Lid.
My absolute favorite in terms of ambient albums is Ambient 4: On Land, although it's probably not what you're looking for.

Check this one out senpai

Stars of the Lid works well

A little too colorful, will listen in another context though
