Many hip hop artists are socially conservative.

dude from QOTSA is a libertarian kinda thing

he also seems dumb as a brick though but I like his music

...

Ed Sheeran

If you view Conservatives as inherently idiots then you're not going to find many, but if you're reasonable about it then Alice Cooper, James Brown, Bryan Ferry, etc. are all fairly intelligent Conservative musicians
Also, Douglas P is most probably a NatBol if he genuinely has radical political positions, and it's somewhat arguable if you can call them "legit Nazis"

Alex Jones is a techno producer in his spare time

in interviews he tends to come off as pretty sharp if you ask me

Ariel Pink booyyyyyyy

Zappa

eric clapton

Buzz Osborne

why does it matterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

why do we need another thread about politics on the music boardddddddddddddddddddd

Master P

nope, conservatives aren't capable of art or music due to their small and closed brain

Kurt Cobain

Swans

He seemed pretty smart and quick witted in person.

hi

...

hi vincent

Why do you care in the first place? Curious.

Most classical musicians were socially conservative. Most dumb shitter indie musicians are progressives

...

Dave Mustaine is one, Death From Within is a great example of this.

Bob Dylan: ethnic Jew, Christian convert, American nationalist

based

All of the big four except for Dave Lombardo and Anthrax are conservative to some degree

...

>legit nazis like the guy from Death in June
are you really this fucking retarded? these soyboys I swear

mmm all of them? :)

Eagles of Death Metal

question, who is an actually GREAT artist that is liberal?

are you a fan of Dylan?

buzz osbourne is libertarian and said “I consider thomas Sowell the greatest philosopher of all time. He is a PhD economist and he’s written more than 30 books about everything you can imagine, from social; commentary to how economics works.

he was on coke during this time and doesn't remember anything from this time period

Dave Smalley (ALL, Dag Nasty, Down By Law, DYS) is a conservative Republican, but most of his music is apolitical, probably because he knows it wouldn't go over well in the punk community, especially since he's grouped in with the DC scene. Either way, he's a key pioneer in straight edge hardcore, post-hardcore, emo, and pop punk.

...

I'm not a lib but I would say Rage Against The Machine was genuinely a great music group

Wut

most celebss/musicians are idiots though

>confuses liberalism and socialism even though they're completely different.

>conservative
>sees masculinity as primative and claims his music is a safe space for weak beta males
Pick one. You're not conservative just because you make fun of trigger warnings and PC culture every now and then, user.

Billy Corgan

Frank Zappa would probably qualify.

Mc Ride

>Conservative
>Not an idiot

Pick one.

"Masculinity" is not a liberal or conservative thing.

okay but rage's music still gud rite

Taylor swift

It seems like there's a kind of defiantly individualist liberalism that I'm certainly sympathetic too, and it seems like there are more and more public figures, especially in music, with the same views.

It's like a liberalism that's still essentially centre-left, being that it's for social programs like universal healthcare and affordable housing; but unlike the broader progressive movement, it's loudly pro-free speech, and does not buy into the Marxist western guilt model of global exploitation. While it's for gender equality, it seems sympathetic to the masculinist trend that's loosely associated with the right. Maybe the defining element, as far as the masculinist element is concerned, is simply an obsession with self-improvement, from philosophy to business to fitness.

I can't think of any politicians who have this stance, but I can think of a number of political commentators (David Pakman), musicians (Nergal, Penny Rimbaud), and I can even think of some historical philosophical precedence for it (pro-market left-anarchists like Pierre-Joseph Proudhon and Murray Bookchin, Oscar Wilde's individualist socialism, maybe Max Stirner to an extent).

In American political lingo, it's like left-liberalism with libertarian elements. There isn't really a clean term for it. But it definitely seems like a noticeable trend.

I live for leftist mental gymnastics

He was though and admitted it multiple times.

Lennox is described by some friends and colleagues as racist. His friend Brian Weitz (Geologist) described him as "Nazi-esque", saying: "Every once in a while there'd be something about Jews and I'd be, 'But Panda, I'm Jewish,' and he was like 'Yes, yes, I don't mean you.' He has a definite Nordic Aryan streak, [the belief] that he is physically, spiritually and creatively superior," a view he continues to maintain through his years as a heroin addict and long after his appearances on music magazine covers had become a thing of the distant past. According to Weitz, Lennox once attacked a mixed-race woman in a restaurant with a smashed wineglass, saying "I hate black people". During a performance in Berlin, the audience rioted after Lennox performed the German national anthem "Deutschlandlied", including a verse omitted since 1945 for its nationalist associations.

If someone has a racist outburst while they're drunk, they're still racist. Drugs just lower your inhibition and make you reveal actual feelings

It's different when you're on so many drugs you think witches are stealing your semen
Also, Bowie in the 80s put out shitloads of anti-racist stuff, and he wasn't even subtle about it

The Nico Copypasta never gets old

There are mart consservatives. Its just the dumb ones are the noisiest.

Smart conservatives even

Kate Bush

You do know Alex Jones is a techno producer and him and Aphex Twin were planning a collab?

I'm not joking, he said this on his official leddit account

>straight edge hardcore

It's actually not a surprise that the "no drugs no sex no fun but have a respectable haircut" grow up to be conservatives

Didn't know Bowie was a retard, cool

Dougie P isn't a Nazi, hes Nazbol at worst

It's sarcasm and irony you dips.

lel

You aren't allowed to have a career as a recording artist if your political views don't comport with the industry standard (although nowadays you can self publish for whatever good that is). Most people who are oriented conservative politically also end up in different career fields. You can probably find many classically trained working musicians who are conservative, but not recording artists.

>Most classical musicians were socially conservative
It's not like they really had a choice

As opposed to the ostensibly anarchist "obey the government and never assume my gender" wing of punk?

>"obey the government and never assume my gender" wing of punk?

the fuck are you talking about?

Considering most classical music was written during the Enlightenment and a good century or more after the de-Christianization of Europe, yeah, they pretty much did. The Inquisition was over by the 1400's you boob.

The hilarious irony of people whose entire political philosophy relies on a central state with a monopoly on violence and the self-suppression of certain speech and thoughts calling itself "anarchist" or "punk". So, you know, like all punk music made after about 1973 or so.

josh homme is an idiot. he can't even use a computer. terrified of the things.

Cool strawman but you can't even name a single band

That old bait still works, eh

Who are some conservative musicians that aren't the same ones always posted in these threads? Like, who's one I wouldn't expect?

Johnny Ramone.

Fuck drumpf and fuck white people.

t. Sup Forums

You don't understand classical anarchism, nor do you understand when punk took up anarchist politics.

Within the anarchist model, punishment is exclusion from social systems. The social system is run democratically, and a person's say is proportional to how much a given issue affects them. In other words, communal living.

Anarchism did not become associated with punk until the band Crass, and it didn't become a significant social movement until about 1978. By then the CBGB scene was already dying, and the 77 punk explosion had already happened.

Morrissey

I love how he commented on a Guy Called Gerald video

Has anyone found his music yet?

>conservatives
>who aren't idiots
oxymoron

Danny Elfman

I thought that was just when he made Only a Lad?
Great musician anyway though.

Danzig fucking hates the Clintons and calls Democrats fascists, plus he believes in AJ tier crazy shits. I guess thats what matters for a poltard

In an interview he described the song Capitalism as 'serious satire', whatever that means.

Are you kidding? Kurt was an SJW before SJW's were a thing watch videos of him kicking out dudes from his own shows cause they were "harrassing girls" or some shit, and krist and him yelling at other people at the shows because their shows were supposed to be super inclusive for everyone. Kurt absolutely hated conservative minded people because in Aberdeen he grew up around red neck types and was bullied

t. Soyboy Hillary voter

>The Inquisition was over by the 1400's
>Galileo was forced to deny heliocentrism in the 1600's

soyboy!!!!

t. completely bugger pisshead

Except that he’s conservative

Zappa is the Ur-Fedora Lord

Lots of musicians are very conservative even if they're ostensibly left wing.

>Kurt absolutely hated conservative minded people because in Aberdeen he grew up around red neck types and was bullied

I've been a big Nirvana fan for over 20 years and I think I've picked up on what his real deal was. He acted like a pretentious fag and was generally disliked by his peers. Hearing him speak conversationally with that passive-aggressive tone of voice is almost unbearable. Unless you're a woman or a homosexual, conversing with him must've been like hearing a radio broadcast of a "Golden Girls: The Worst Of" marathon. I love his music, but the man himself oozed pretentiousness, emasculation and inclusiveness. What kind of person wants to be around that when there isn't money and fame (and drugs) involved?
