Start in band in 2016

>start in band in 2016
>almost two years later and we still suck

I wish I had the confidence to start a band, too bad anxiety is such a fag

>band is semi-decent but only having one guitarist is holding us back
>don’t want to expand beyond being a three piece band because our dynamic is great and all the people we’ve tried haven’t worked

Music for this fee?

I was in a band from 2011 to 2012. We were a skramz/screamo band. We were well known locally, but we weren't that fantastic. I miss touring though. I miss that life.

Just have your guitarist record two tracks

What's preventing a reunion?

If you aren't making music purely for yourself and to create works of art that you like, then any band you start will already be doomed to fail.

I am in the Navy, last time I heard the bassist was a homeless drug addict, the other guitarist and founder of the band is pursuing becoming a vet, the drummer works at some coffee shop back home, and our vocalist's brother killed himself a few years ago and I have no idea what he is up to.

We all grew up and apart.

Dude I was just like you earlier this year except mine began in fall 2015 and in May they kicked me out because retarded bullshit, I can’t speak for you but for myself I’ve definitely gotten a lot on insight at least with this way things worked out, consider doing whatever it is you want to in regards to what it is you exactly want to accomplish and what your options are.

If you have friends play with them. Playing with randoms is almost always shit

Fucking a man, hard to come to grips with 2012 being ~6 years ago. My inner calendar is telling me it's been 2 years tops

I'm in a similar position. I've been casually playing guitar/bass for a couple years now and really crave being in a band. I don't even really care about being good, I just want a few people to mess around with and play some awful Rush covers. Unfortunately I have an inability to go out and make friends, so somehow finding people who 1. play an instrument, 2. are a similar skill level to me, 3. I get along with is literally impossible at this point.

Yeah, it's weird. It's hard. I feel too much when I think about all of it. Even if I could get back together with them it wouldn't be the same. When we started the band I was fourteen, and the other guys were 14 to 16 years old. We played hundreds of shows, with Raein, Empire! Empire!, Loma Prieta. We recycled the same girlfriends between us. I was sort of the glue that held the band together, but the tension and the anger broke out. When I moved away it fell apart. I wish they knew how much of an impact they had on me, and the music scene in Arizona in general. It's weird to look back.

Those were guys I knew for almost a decade too. All to dust.

Some of the best bands ever have been three-piecers

I think trite is the word, yeah this is going to be trite, but at least you had those experiences and have those memories. Also, you never know, stars might align and a reuinon of some kind might go down one day.

Name three

you gotta dig up jimi hendrix
you gotta play 420 voodoo magic on his bones

trust me; ive only done this once before

Dinosaur Jr
Jimi Hendrix experience
Husker du
Nirvana
Cream
Primus

dude i'm in the exact same boat. I've started it with some friends, and we've recorded a couple song but I don't think anyone is super satisfied with it, maybe they are idk, But every time we try to jam and create, nothing seems to happen. Sure we seshs were its amazing and we can write like 10 songs, but a lot of the it just seems to go nowhere.

i think its just commitment though, like I know for a fact we all really wanna make something with this, but idk it just seems stagnant.

>never played in a band
>can't practice drums because live in apartment
>too poor for electric set
music for this feel?

download a daw and use a virtual drum set.

Fuck it, what's a decent book on music theory and a good cheap midi keyboard?

i cant help you with music theory, id say literally just you tube it. It can be a really good tool, And I use mix craft 8 and vst drum sets, """real"" audio engineers would hate that and call me a retard probably for using both of those, but they work.

there's literally no sense in having two of the same instrument
