Alternatives to Metal?

So after listening to 100+ albums from 100+ different artists over three months, I’ve finally come to the conclusion that metal (Doom, NWOBHM, Thrash, Black, etc.), more often than not, is complete and utter shit. The problem is, however, is that I still like harsh and aggressive music. So I was wondering what alternatives you guys listen to that fit this discription. I’ve recently come across D-Beat and it’s pretty fucking amazing, but I’d still like to broaden my horizons.

Listen to Screamo and post-hardcore. Pic related.

Listen to Squarepusher. Worth the time to dig through

Hey, I did the same but I came to the conclusion that I should only listen to metal. Nice.

Will do, thanks.

...cool?

The thing is, music, more often than not, is complete and utter shit

Based quads.

>power violence
>skramz
>hardcore punk
>post-hardcore
>emo violence
>Industrial

I'm the same way OP. Tell me what you think of these songs. Been getting into "The Wave" of Post-Hardcore. I find that really strained, intense music like this is a good balance between overly done metal and obnoxious, sugary "post-hardcore"

(Defeater is a concept band, and every song they do tells a part of a story)

crossover thrash and grindcore. both use the d-beats and blastbeats

Listen to Whitehouse

Am really digging the third link

Well hell yeah, Touche Amore is fucking great. They put out an album, last year, about lead singer Jeremy Bolm's passing (cancer). It was my 2016 AOTY, and an incredible, incredible album. Check it out, and for fuck sake, call your mom and tell her you love her

>I took inventory of what I took
>For granted
>And I ended up with more than I imagined

That hit me hard. Thanks for the rec

You could check out some noisy shoegaze? Tokyo shoegazer, loveliescrushing, and so on.

>no La Dispute
Son...

If that hit you hard the album is going to crush you for the first few listens, trust me.

Post hardcore sucks. They take the idea of yelling to convey emotion and turn it into some lame technique. It feels fake to me. Some bands are better than others but the big names of the genre are absolutely terrible. They just make music for girls and sad bois.

You need some hardcore punk. Not revival or post punk or pop punk. You want the real shit.

Minor threat.

Lots of post-punk is pretty harsh

I like La Dispute but they're not who I turn to for aggressive music, they're who I turn to for oddly introspective and whiny music

la dispute is what i turn to when i want to hear "darling" 50 times in a song

Just listen to noise rock.
