Didn't know Bill played the sax lol

Overrated. 80s were awesome. We were all going to go to space and shit.

>18+

That was like his fucking thing. It probably would be more remembered if he wasn't that "I got sucked off in office" president.

Born in 86, the 90s were based

>Born in 1998

A family member of mine literally told me I should vote for Bill Clinton because he was so cool he played the sax.

It was basically like now but with dial up internet. It didn't feel that different honestly.

>Were the 90s a good decade, at least for the West?

It was the birth of the modern internets as we know it. Man, what a time to be alive.

This.

Born in 77 here. The 80's the world was a wild frontier of technology and innovation while Reagan called out USSR and basically treated them like demons until Gorbachev got elected and basically gave in to Reagan (who did bend a bit as well) for peace.

Everything was new and exciting from music to movies to the advent of cable television and computers taking off and shit.

90s...were kinda dull and PC culture started then.

It's all been downhill from there folks.

We do have better computers, phones and internet...but at what cost I ask you. What cost. Can't talk to people in real life, SJW propaganda everywhere, etc.

Fuck yeah the 80's ruled. Watch the CNN doc to really understand.

> born past 1989

Cancer. Ghost Generation.

>leave computer on all night to download racy picture with your pimp 9600 baud modem
>mom picks up the phone at some point and ruins it
>dad complains about the phone bill
>try again later anyway, but it's just an ugly playboy woman with 80s hair and her short shorts unbuttoned
>already fapped to the JC Penny's catalog underwear section anyway

That's what a proper upbringing is like.

The 90s were the last time America was portrayed as predominantly white by the media. Muscular white men were still the heroes who got the hot blonde. Drugs were demonized and kids still had manly heroes.
Everything changed after 9/11. The kikes really cranked up the ZOG machine at that point.

Damn... I'm going to still be shitposting here when I'm in my 40's too.

#Dreams

Victoria's Secret was my jam.

No.
Clinton brought slavery and gun control, meanwhile he kept doling out welfare to old people so they kind of liked him.

Frederick's of Hollywood was better better cum catch imo.

That post is so true that I laughed for almost a minute straight IRL.

Then I cried because kids these days will never know the suffering. Damn kids, have all their porn served up to them on a silver platter.

>tfw i just realised people born in 1998 can now browse Sup Forums

Dear god where did the time go

to this?

It was almost exactly the same, but the internet was smaller and technology wasn't as fancy. Culturally, fuck all has really changed, except the shitty parts of the 90's (which was pretty much all of them) have basically snowballed well past the point of complete lunacy to the degree that we're now living in parody of a parody of the 90's.

This. I had some fun in the 90s personally, but they sucked. The nation had more pride and cohesion in the 80s.

39.

But I have a wife and kids and work full-time etc. Wife prefers shitposting to dancing with whores or gambling at the casino.

I'm ok with it.

You nailed it better than I could have.

'79 whaddup.

Frederick's was the raunchy shit. They didn't come in the mail that often either.

>The 90s were the last time America was portrayed as predominantly white by the media. >Muscular white men were still the heroes who got the hot blonde. Drugs were demonized and kids still had manly heroes.

Pretty sure that was the decade before the 90's, friend.

Less liberal bull shit, kids were a little less coddled. Still pretty pozzed though.

And the result is erectile dysfunction by your mid twenties and no desire to be with a real woman.

Good God he really does look terminal.

Yup. 80's were cool, the degeneracy was kept the a minimum other than coke and aids. The 90's were pretty lame overall, only thing it did was give us the internet, and even that wasn't until very late, maybe 97, 98, 99.

My dad was a big tech nerd so we had a PC and a modem before everyone else did though so I did a lot of "war dialing" (where you run a program that dials numbers and marks numbers that return as a connectable site) and found some cool bulletin boards (think Sup Forums anonymity in two tone colors) and a few other sites. AOL was gay though and all that shit brought us what we have today. It's good for alternative media, the cable and local news were the only game in town back then, so there's that, but overall it's far more depressing and boring in general.

>tfw found decayed strips of a porno mag stuck in the trees at the side of the road one day

I guess at least he knows I'm not gay.

You should probably just kill yourself.

The early 90's were ok. The late 90's were shit.

I've been watching porn since VHS was shiny and new. No problems getting it up. Your erectile dysfunction is your own fault user, not the porn.

Unless you're watching degenerate interracial or cuck porn, in which case you need to seek out more virtuous porns.

Also 77.

80s were awesome to grow up. Then 90s came. It was not bad in the punk/progrock skater crew. But outside the dawn of ghetto culture was starting, the Girl Power feminism preached to kids began. University "sociology departments" morphed into SJW training grounds.

In general the 90s were so simple and easy that we let our whole society slide into the shitter.

what's the name of the doc?

My mom got that shit sent to our house all the time. She was the quintessential example of shitty single motherhood in the 80's and 90's. A slut ordering lingerie from Frederick's on her ex husbands child support dime, while her kids barely had wearable clothes and never had a proper lunch for school.

So yeah, a shitty childhood with pretty good jerk off mags sent monthly. I just had to intercept them in the mail, which wasn't hard since she was never home anyway.

h-holy fuck dude

i understand you're a pleb, but aren't 80s movie supposed to be popular with millennial retards? as like a kitsch thing? like, you shouldn't be this dumb.

i guess one could argue that you're confusing "the internet" with "the dot com boom," but i'm not giving you the benefit of the doubt because fuck you

>In general the 90s were so simple and easy that we let our whole society slide into the shitter.
Tfw born in 91 and wasn't old enough to save America

Feels bad man

>tfw emigrating to the US from the UK at the end of the 90's.

Happiest years of my life pre-9/11. The 90's US was rad as fuck. I wish I were around for the 80s though.

Also, the UK might as well have been the fucking Soviet bloc compared to the US in the 90s. There was fuck all there other than decent chocolate, retardedly overpriced crappy satellite TV, and shitty fucking boy bands.

Having lived through the full 70's, 80's 90's,00's

I would rate the 80's BY FAR the best.
Then the 70's. The 70's were very good as well.

I remember in 1992 thinking, we'll that was good while it lasted. I was in Sweden at the time and they had just brought in the first 5,000 Somalians the year before.

Life before AIDS and being able to smoke anywhere and bars PACKED with people every night.

It died out in the early 1990's because of AIDS. The bars emptied out. Social live's became much smaller.

Smoking bans were the nail in the coffin.
After that literally every last bar closed. From 100's in a city to 2 or 3.

I moved to Asia afterwards trying to find the 1980's, I did for awhile until the SJW's from the US arrived to teach the Asian's about the blue pill.

feels bad I'm 18 and go out with my friends and instead of talking to each other they all have to snapchat and facebook to everyone else that we're out "having a good time"

Don't feel bad. It's the fucking degenerate hippy parents and their butt hurt that is to blame. That and the simple fun lives we had. We stopped keeping the bullshit in check.

I feel bad that my 5-10 year group didn't just ignore your psycho helicopter moms and sneak the younger kids out to train in being human and cool.

Everything started going to shit pretty much after 9/11, and the it went in full force after Obama was elected. Degeneracy,SJWs,internet, mainstream music,
games,private life, pro-immigrant policies,anti-gun policies, everything started in 2008.

>t. american visiting european countries

OK cool kid. You have no idea how unknown the internet was until the 90's dot com boom. It was LITERALLY non existent. We didn't even call it the internet back then, it was just the modem. This is from the perspective of a young teen by the way, so while, yes, your benefit of hindsight entitled you to knowing the "internet" was technically around in the 80's, the world wide web didn't exist, browsers didn't exist, etc.

What we had back then was very very limited and extremely unwieldy to use. Unless you knew the number to call, you didn't have the benefits of a search engine. So as far as I'm concerned, the "internet" didn't really exist in the culture until AOL and Prodigy really caught on, which was in 97, 98, 99. It's called the dot com boom because .com didn't exist much earlier than that.

Are you related to Lisa Simpson?

You'll regret it if you don't have some fun while you're young. And by fun I mean things I should have done at a younger age.

Later on, you'll fall in with a smaller group of friends who are more interested in having sensible fun together.

You never watched the animaniacs as a kid did you?

which documentary?

burgermath

I'm not even going to finish reading this post because the movie War Games features a kid using the internet to hack into an army computer, and that was in '83. Get some fucking perspective in your life, for fucks sake you embarrass yourself like this. Just be grateful you're anonymous.

To expand on my example
>Tron
>Weird Science
Maybe even

>Terminator i&ii

All from the 80s and featuring the internet predominately in the story, good fucking night you're a dipshit

Dank shirt. Billy Boy should play concerts for Hillary.

I knew nerdy kids in high school who were online back in the late 80s, but the media hype over the internet ("information superhighway!") didn't get going in earnest until the early 90s. I first got online in 1994.

I gotta agree that the early days of the Internet will always hold a special place in my mind.

If it's popular enough for Hollyjew, it's popular enough to say "the internet was a big part of the 80s."

It's the same as those kids who swear up and down that the mid 90s was the beginning of computer gaming, fuck you guys.

The 80's were only good in comparison to the 70's, which were truly horrible.

Almost everything about the 80's was inferior to the 90's. The music in the 80's was worse. The economy was worse. The clothing and hair styles were retarded. The cold war was still going on. Movies... There were good movies in both decades. And Married With Children bridged the 80's and 90's.

I saw "WarGames" a few times in the cinema when it came out. What Broderick's character was doing in that film was practically black magic to 99.5% of people in society at that time. To call hacking into a military mainframe "using the internet" is a serious stretch.

I used to love watching MuchMusic back in the day, seeing the new Stone Temple Pilots music video, or the Foo Fighters..

And I used to get so fucking jacked up for 90's action movies like Broken Arrow and Sudden Death.

They don't make shit like that anymore, that's for sure.

Probably the last good decade.

77 here. Only thing good about the nineties was the pussy I got

There was no internet in the 80's
You dialed into BBS's with your modem...

I know I had an brand new Apple ][+ with a 300 Baud Hayes modem and spent many night wardialing, trying to find other computers to connect to.

>Almost everything about the 80's was inferior to the 90's. The music in the 80's was worse.

80s music could be cheesy, but it was at least optimistic and white men hadn't yet reached the stage where they were constantly whining about how shitty their lives were (except maybe Morrissey and the Cure).

>The economy was worse.

There was a huge economic boom in the 80s, and a recession in the early 90s before things got back on track.

>The clothing and hair styles were retarded.

Only in retrospect. The 90s gave us piercings and the popularity of tattoos, plus the shabby grunge look while that lasted.

>The cold war was still going on.

That at least gave us some moral clarity (except for the SJWs of the time, who were more or less pro-Soviet). In the 90s Westerners were drunk on the delusion that it was "the end of history" and there was a lot of complacency about the dangers of the world.

> Rates decades coolness by fashion, and media.

Yep. Hipster level faggotry.

Apple ][s were pretty rad if you took the time to get to know how they worked inside.

gsIIs were also not bad, but really missed the mark overall.

it's why he's considered an honorary negro

He was doing that while all other fucking white male politicians were George Bush clones

You are right. I remember living in NYC in 1991 and using a modem to connect to Minitel. A french chat service. There was no internet. 1995 I was using Oracle and Aol. 1997 I was using Netscape on what could be considered the Internet.

First post worst post

Just so you know you are part of literally the worst generation ever period in American History.

>not having a panix account

>80s music could be cheesy, but it was at least optimistic and white men hadn't yet reached the stage where they were constantly whining about how shitty their lives were (except maybe Morrissey and the Cure).

You're talking about that grunge shit? That was really a west coast thing.

>There was a huge economic boom in the 80s, and a recession in the early 90s before things got back on track.

The economy started turning south in the late 80's, although it didn't get to full blown recession until the early 90's. But that recession was mild compared to the one that was raging at the start of the 80's. The beginning of the 80's was really, really bad. Stagflation was still going on.

>That at least gave us some moral clarity (except for the SJWs of the time, who were more or less pro-Soviet). In the 90s Westerners were drunk on the delusion that it was "the end of history" and there was a lot of complacency about the dangers of the world.

There were no serious, world ending dangers in the 90's. That was the point. The cold war was over. There was no moral clarity derived from the cold war, just faggots waving flags like it would prove who had the bigger dick while holding the threat of nuclear annihilation over our heads.

You did the same thing, faggot. Punk is just a lifestyle with a particular type of music and clothing.

>he 80's were only good in comparison to the 70's, which were truly horrible.
Yeah no...

>Almost everything about the 80's was inferior to the 90's. The music in the 80's was worse.
You know I have collected albums and cd's since the 70's. My 90's collection is small because the music truly sucked. there was Nirvana..and umm yeah.. that's about it
The 80's had Punk Rock, Early Gothic like the Cure and 100's of other bands like that, great New Wave and New Romantics. Hell in the 80's literally every single week 4 or 5 songs came out that you still hear today.
Motown in the 1970's blows away anything made today..
>The economy was worse.
Nope.. A guy could work at the Hardware store and buy a house that cost 400,000 now. His wife didn't need to work and he could have two cars and two kids. I know this because every family on my block lived like that. With yearly trips to Europe.

> The clothing and hair styles were retarded.
The 90's had what clothing style ? Grunge and that's it. Women in the 90's dressed to the nine. they took hours to get ready to goto the corner store. It was amazing how beautiful women where in the 80's.

Yes. And all that happy go lucky milquetoast bullshit is what allowed for people to start getting tweaked out over non issue problems. That is why we are here in a world of screaming infants wanting safe spaces and global multiculti hug boxes.

No. I stated that I was part of a more fringe 90s crowd that wasn't inside sucking up the MTV reality tv shit and beginnings of American thug culture.

I didn't disparage any group based on whether they wore cool clothes and had cool haircuts.

Very fucking weak. Nu male shit there. You sound like a woman.

80s was no limits to outer space in terms of music, but early 90s was pretty good.

A local profitable radio station proves this. Too bad they have to do sports radio most of the time when I might catch something new that fits.

Who was the best?

You actually LIKE motown and grunge? ...shit.

Well, I strongly disagree with your taste, and my music collection is large from the 63 - 71 and 93 - 00, with not much between 71 and 93.

Can't really argue taste.

But I can argue economics, and you are dead wrong. Real Median Household Income peaked in 1999. The economy in the 80's was significantly better than the 70's, which was atrocious, but aside from the one blip around 1990, it continued to get better throughout the 90's. In 2000 it started going south.

Household median was higher because most families were dual income by 99. Did you not pay attention to the other part of what he said?

Blue collar single working parent families could afford a nice house, a good life for the kids, and fun family vacations.

It's not just about whole numbers. It's about quality of life.

The end of the cold war led to safe spaces and hug boxes? I don't think so. There were previous periods of time without war and that didn't happen. There were other causes for that. But, even if it did, hug boxes and safe spaces are better than the threat of nuclear annihilation you dipshit.

Yeah, your clothing, hair, and music made you so fringe. And oh, you probably had skateboards, too. Very fringe, and very cool, but not because of culture at all. It was all because of, that other thing, which you haven't yet mentioned.

>hug boxes and safe spaces are better than the threat of nuclear annihilation you dipshit.

Now we've got both. That's worse.

express.co.uk/news/world/618758/Putin-nuclear-threat-to-America-missiles-US-defence-shield

I read the other part of what he said, and it was bullshit. Very few people had $400,000 houses in the 1980's and fewer people had multiple (or any) cars in the 80's than in the 90's.

Your making an assumption that women are forced to work and don't do so by choice.

No, it sucked donkey dick. 50's is where its at.

Are you me? I'm in the same situation. Friends don't want to meet up. Only play league of autism and fuck around with social media.

The current situation is in no way comparable to the cold war. Suggesting so is absurd.

Anamicans you young piece of shit, DIE FOR BEING YOUNG I HATE YOU

>The current situation is in no way comparable to the cold war

It's practically the same, but without the media hysteria and with the added threat of a conflict with China. NATO and Russia are constantly issuing threats and deploying new forces at the moment, and a war between them is more likely today than at any time since the mid-1980s (especially if Hillary is elected).

The 90s were good. Spent a lot of time outside but the games were awesome too. The music was fun. More innocent and simple times.

What made us fringe was not being part of the mainstream of the generation. We all wore different clothes from each other and none of it mattered.

The "threat of global annihilation" is objectively better than the degradation of whole societies by cultural psychosis. If only by the mere fact that one was a threat and the other is reality. Many more aspects to that too.

The culture that tied us was freedom to be outside unsupervised and living. Our families were intact, we knew all of our neighbors. Dad was someone to be proud of and mom laughed at our wildness. TV or video games were for cold rainy days, not a buzzing colorful nanny.

Shit man I could go on and on. But you are a product of the non life of 90s -now. You can't understand something you never experienced.

dude i owned 2 vehicles before the 90's were over (3 if you count the croch rocket) and i was barely in my 20's
That graph accounts for worthless niggers and beaners also, who still dont have a vehicle.

I'm just 18. I understand what you mean in essence and I'm deeply upset I had to live through my childhood in these shitty times. I really hope Trump can make future decades worth something.

The economic climate is such now that women for the most part cannot choose not to work. Don't give me that feminist talking point drivel. "Muh choices"

Is the merchant actively puppeting your words with his fist up your ass right now?

Damn you really are devoted to your own cage.

No. The cold war had things like the cuban missile crisis and multiple proxy-wars all over the world. We didn't trade. We didn't travel.

It's mostly just talk, now. We trade. We travel. Hell, we even co-operate in fighting terrorism. There are a few, minor incidents, like Snowden hanging out in Moscow, and disputes over missile defense shields and defense shield evasion, but nothing remotely comparable to the cold war.

And there is no threat of war with China. China's economy is dependent upon trade with the US. The US economy benefits from trade with China, but does not depend on it. The Chinese know this. If a war broke out between the US and China, China's economy would permanently implode. There is no threat of war between the US and China. China's military build up is aimed at intimidating others in the region, not the US.

I was born in the 70's. If you really believe that cultural bullshit is worse than the threat of global annihilation, then I don't know. Congratulations on still being fringe. I hope you still wear different clothes.
