OH MARY LOU WON'T YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO

So /Cobain/-core thread?

Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking
Violent Femmes s/t
R.E.M.

Did Cobain actually like Beat Happening? I know he was a meat puppets fan but I didn't know about that

Obvious one

>REM

always thought this was a meme, all REM's 80s albums sound distinictly 80s... it's all jangle pop and post punk tracks

He was friends with Calvin at some point (although they had a falling out or something?) and he liked twee stuff (Vaselines, Marine Girls, etc.). So I'm pretty sure he liked Beat Happening.

nice, posting the image helps

Yes Jamboree was on his top 50 records list

...

>Violent Femmes s/t
absolutely

Pretty much all the Cobaincore because he defined a lot of the 90s' sound

Did Kurt ever acknowledge Slint

Energy
Surfer Rosa

non-Cobaincore post incoming

The first time I heard this and was informed it came out in 1981 my jaw hit the floor

Big Black feels way more 90s than 80s to me

Released in 1989

It sounds more 80s than Surfer Rosa, thanks to Gil Norton. And then Pixies got even more 80s-sounding with Bossanova.

...

the stone(d) roses

Honestly this does sound kind of 80s, but more late 80s rather than 1981. Vini Reilly truly is something else.

Slint was still majorly unknown by the time he died, but I wonder if Albini ever mentioned them to him. I doubt it though since they were just another indie band he worked with and they had an album to work on.

>Implying anyone sounds like Minutemen
There's been countless imitations, but they're in a league of their own.

...

>every 80s indie rock album sounds "90s"
This thread is retarded

pretty much exactly what i was gonna post

y/n?

Fantastic song but very 80s-sounding.

Faith No More - The Real Thing
RHCP - Mother's Milk

Both released in the late 80s, but they've got that radical xtreme early 90s sound to them.

One of my first thoughts

the geetars in this

>89
thats cheating dude.
and the real thing>anything rhcp has ever done

well... they were released in the 80s...
and i agree

early Screaming Trees albums

sonic youth

This thread is lacklustre, try to find things that aren't just alt-rock

when he came back with denim he sounded much more dated to a modern ear which is weird

You may not like it, but this is what peak Patricianhood look like

Forgot to add

Too ahead of its time

89

most noise rock / post hardcore from the 80s sounds years ahead
