Wes Anderson has been doing TV commercials for years. What's wrong with it? Directing stuff is his job. Personally I rather like seeing some commercial kino while I'm watching my shows rather than the same uninspired boring ones.

Anderson has been doing ads for quite awhile. Brody is a good actor who has also been doing ads for quite awhile.
That was quite a well-made ad with a wonderful aesthetic that a lot of ads lack (most are sterile and look as though they've been run through the corporate blender), with nice acting and succinctly told a simple but good plot.
And beyond that, both Brody and Anderson still need to get paid. They're workers. Why not take on a smaller gig that you can shoot in a day and make some solid and quick cash for it?
